Great performance by Nerz. Maybe you can jump into the lead on the 4th stage, which is also a mountain stage if I remember right. Also you should be the better time trialist.

Cya logic: let the GC-leader do the pace in a climb far before the finish, let him attack several times and let him easily win the sprint for the stage win..... Hate these things...
Anyway, good jobm hope you can stay in touch with Tschopp in the next stage (Grossglockner?), so you can crush in in the ITT.

@ FreitasPCM: I really hope so. But it seems as if Tschopp is unstoppable at the moment. And he's not that bad in time trials... We'll see
@ alexanderlens: That's the beauty of random potential
@ sutty68: Thanks a lot! I'm very happy with the results so far, too.
@ roturn: Yes, fourth (and fifth) stage are mountain stages. But I guess it's more about limiting time, at least against Tschopp^^ About the time trialing: In the Top 5, Dominik is better than Rutkiewicz and Tschopp (70 vs. 66), equally good as Gaia and worse than Van Garderen (70 vs. 77). Therefore, it's most important to gain time on Van Garderen.
@ dienblad: Yep, that's insane! Next stage is Großglockner, yes, I just played it, will try to post the report later today.
Oh, and another thing: It's transfer time again and I'd like to discuss how I'll handle it. Firstly, my transfers: They're done and I'm very happy about it. I think I'll present them as last year - step by step between Tour and Vuelta. Or would you prefer them at the very end of the season?
Secondly, the AI transfers. Again, I'll intervene if transfers are too silly, like Evans to Euskaltel or Devolder to Barbot. But what about things like Duarte to Caja Rural? I mean, the third of the Giro should ride in a Pro Tour team, but Caja Rural isn't too bad and it's not that unrealistic, so I tend to let him go there. What do you think?

Your transfers: as last year.
AI-transfers: I agree that Duarte to Caja isn't unrealistic, so let's keep that.

Österreich-Rundfahrt, Stage 4
The second mountain top finish, the third in a row of four mountain stages. Today will be another hard test for the riders. Can Johan Tschopp continue his incredible performance?
Dominik's Pre-Race Comment
This is the day of truth! Will I be able to keep up with Tschopp enough to overtake him in the time trial? Will I make up enough time so that Tejay won't overtake me? I want a Top 3 result today to secure my overall podium.
Km 1: | Within the first kilometers already, the attacks begin. Most known rider is probably German sprinter Andreas Stauff (Atlas). | . | Km 29: | 13 riders are in front at the moment. But the attacks keep coming and the group will probably grow too big. | . | | | Km 50: | Finally, we have a stable break: Seven riders including first stage runner-up René Weissinger are 2 minutes in front, four more riders are a bit behind them and will soon catch up. None of them is a decent climber. | . | Km 66: | The pack takes it easy on the first climb. CCC and GreenEdge make a reasonable pace and keep the escapees at about 4 minutes. | . | | | Km 69: | Rasmus Guldhammer attacks! The young Dane is no theat at all to the general classification but is a decent climber and on a great day, such a move could bring him the stage win! | . | Km 97: | Over the second mountain, Guldhammer catches up with the original break which now consists of 13 riders and has an advance of 5'30. | . | Km 124: | 60 riders cross the penultimate climb together. | . | Km 147: | The escapees enter the last 17 really steep kilometers with an advance of almost 5 minutes. For someone like Guldhammer, that could be enough. | . | | | Km 149: | Early on the climb, with 15 kms to go, Michael Rasmussen and Constantino Zaballa, GC's 7th and 8th, attack! | . | Km 153: | They soon catch up with the former break, whose advance decreased rapidly. | . | | | Km 155: | Soon, it's only those two who are in front of the 12 men favorite's group, of course led by Johan Tschopp, who again seem to have terrific legs... | . | Km 157: | But both are caught again a bit later. | . | | | Km 158: | With 6 kms to go, Gaia attacks followed by again Rasmussen and Rutkiewicz. This could be a dangerous move! | . | | | Km 159: | As Tschopp goes, Nerz reacts, too, and crosses the mountain sprint in third position behind the Swiss and Michele Gaia. | . | | | Km 162: | Tschopp soon leaves the Italian behind. Nerz follows closely and has 30 seconds to a group of four behind him. | . | | | Km 163: | Rasmussen attacks to reach Nerz on the last kilometer. Can the German keep the third spot? | . | | | Km 164: | First of all, Tschopp can celebrate his third consecutive win. He totally dominates this race. Gaia finishes second, 33 seconds behind. | . | | | Km 164: | And in the snowfalls of Austria, Dominik Nerz can be very happy about the third spot. He loses about a bit more than minute to Tschopp and is now within the same time as Gaia, but he gains valuable time on the likes of Rutkiewicz and Van Garderen. | . | Km 164: | Valerio Agnoli had a rather bad day and ends up 11th, after another day of hard work for his leader. He loses one position and is now seventh overall. |

Tschopp domination continues... But well, I'll just have to acknowledge his superiority, he'll be a deserved winner. As I guess that the Top 5 will stay together tomorrow, due to the long descent into the finish, I'll have to fight for place two in the time trial! It'll be incredibly close as I estimate Gaia to be equally good in time trials as I am, and we're really within the same time at the moment... Maybe I could gain some bonus seconds tomorrow, that would be great!
Marek Rutkiewicz is now pretty safe behind me. And I also hope that 2'29 should be enough to keep Tejay Van Garderen from overtaking me. So at least a podium is rather safe now, I dare say.
Anyway, this is a great race! Very exciting and exhausting, but very satisfying as well. I hope the best for tomorrow,
See you,

2'29 is probably too much to gain in the ITT, so hope you can keep in 2nd!

Dominik is climbing brilliantly. Tschopp is pretty much unbeatable it seems.
And could you post Gaia's stats? Looks like he has developed quite a lot.

@ all: Thanks for the comments!
@Pelli: Here you go:
BE = Mountain
HÃœG = Hill
ZF = Time Trial
I'm not sure about his original stats but yeah, he's pretty good.

Dominik doing fab job so far, hope he can keep that up. Although Tschopp looks untouchable, hope Nerz will keep up the fight. will be great watching you fighting with Gaia for 2nd and also trying to beat Tschopp. Good luck

Just played the fifth stage, it'll come up soon.
By the way, some more opinions on the transfer matter would be appreciated.

On the transfers, I think you should definitely intervene with the ridiculous ones, but I think what could be interesting would be for things like duarte to caja rural, you could come up with a fake reason to why he isn't at a protour team, for example, he made some outlandish comments, tested positive to EPO but let off the hook, or something like that. But definitely, you should keep them, it is what makes PCM great!
Phew, that was tough to write on an iPhone...

July 7, 2012
Österreich-Rundfahrt, Stage 5
The last in a row of four hard mountain stages is the shortest (109 kms) but still very tough with two long climbs. The last descent might prevent bigger time gaps, still it's the only possibility left for weak time trialists to make up some time.
Dominik's Pre-Race Comment
My shape keeps improving. I hope for another Top 3 result today, I mustn't lose more time on Gaia or Van Garderen, that's the most important thing. If I even could gain some time, that would be terrific.
Apart from myself, we'll try to send Timothy Duggan into the break, we think he might have a chance then.
| | Km 1: | Following Piotr Kieblesz, Timothy Duggan attacks! | . | Km 17: | 11 riders are in front at the moment. | . | Km 22: | The group seems to be too big for the pack so Duggan attacks again! | . | Km 35: | It didn't work. GreenEdge and CCC pull them back. | . | | | Km 41: | On the first really steep kilometers, Duggan tries it again! | . | Km 44: | Four riders come together at the front but GreenEdge keeps chasing... | . | | | Km 49: | While the leading group stabilized an advance of 1'20, GC's 11th Andreas Zeits attacks! | . | Km 52: | Zeits quickly reaches the escapees and wins the mountain sprint. | . | Km 78: | Seven riders are in front at the moment, leading with 1'50 at the second intermediate sprint on the bottom of the last climb. | . | | | Km 83: | Early on the climb, Duggan has to pay the tribute for his many attacks in the first kilometers of the stage. He falls back. | . | Km 88: | Zeits left all the other escapees behind and leads solo. He extended his lead to almost 4 minutes. With 14 minutes back, he's no threat for the overall and the pack takes it easy. | . | | | Km 92: | Once again, Johan Tschopp takes over the lead in the peloton and it falls into pieces. | . | | | Km 95: | Three kilometers from the top of the climb, 15 riders are still together on the graveled roads. Agnoli leads, Nerz sits comfortably in the third row (green jersey). Zeits is still more than three minutes in front and rides towards his first stage win. | . | | | Km 97: | 1,5 kms from the top, Nerz goes for it! He wants to take some more seconds before the time trial. | . | | | Km 98: | He crosses the top with a solid 40 seconds gap. 11 kms of descending left! | . | Km 102: | Gaia, Tschopp, Rutkiewicz and Van Garderen got away from the other favorites and are now, Nerz's first chasers. But the German even extends his lead now! | . | | | Km 105: | Nerz shows the descent of his life! His rivals are already a minute behind and he even can see Zeits now! | . | Km 107: | Zeits is caught by Nerz. Will the young German even achieve a stage win? | . | | | Km 109: | No. The Kazakh had a bit more energy left and is rewarded for his courageous attack. Now the clock is ticking in Nerz's favour. How many seconds will he get? | . | | | Km 109: | Tschopp leads them over the line 46 seconds later. Considering the bonus seconds, Nerz is now only 1'39 behind Tschopp, 58 seconds in front of Gaia and 3'27 in front of Van Garderen. What a fantastic move! | . | Km 109: | Agnoli follows in the third group. He keeps his seventh spot. |

Hell yeah! So great! Finally, I was able to get away from the others! Even Tschopp! A very successful move, and I'm extremely glad about it. Now I'm confident to keep at least the second spot and you never know about the time trial: 32 km can be a lot and Tschopp didn't seem that overwhelmingly strong today... Maybe even the overall win is still in reach.
We also showed a nice team performance again with Timothy in the break and Valerio still in the Top 10 overall. This turns out to be a very succesful race for us.
Tomorrow is another mostly flat stage and I'll try to regenerate as much as I can for the time trial. Yours,

Nerz does great! And about the transfers, you should only edit the strangest ones, and you should do them step by step.

Wow, I've played that downhill a few times, and every time it's a good result! Great work, that TT will be great, let's go Dominik!
