However i am very sad, because i believe in his innocence. I may be stupid, but i think he had no reason to dope, he is the best without it. Guilty or not, i will miss him at the Tour a lot, it will be half a race without him.
How do you know?
Because he is the best stage-racer since 2008, or he was doping since back then? And i say honestly i am biased a lot, he brought me so many positive emotions that even all the rest of riders together cant beat it...
There's no way of knowing when he started doping, just that he was doing so now and hence any previous years are now tainted, like proverbial meat.
Wait, really ? How many test this man must have gone through since 2008? How many times he was cought with a positive test. Witchhunters...disgrace i say.

Once. Which is the exact number of times you need to test positive in order to be found guilty of doping

How many times was Bjarne Riis tested positive? Right, he didn't use doping either ... oh, wait.
Let's also forget Operacion Puerto. |

You know that you can mask doping positives, right?

Not happy with this for several reasons:
- Another big name has used doping.
- I believed in his innocence, possibly blinded by the fact that I loved his attacking style of riding.
- I don't know who should be my GT-hero now..... Evans because of 1 great Tour and is getting old? Wiggins who never attacks? Schleck who can't timetrial? Cobo who has to show he isn't a onedayfly? Gesink who has to deal with the pressure and stop crashing? Kloden-Kreuziger-Brajkovic-Sanchez-Basso-Nibali, who can do very well, but won't win the Tour? Think I'll stick with Anton or Rodriguez, they'll always attack (and loose it because of the ITT)...
- Hope the ban starts from the positive test, and someone should also punish all the doping-authorities for not giving a verdict sooner
Why do you need a GT-hero?
And why should the ban start from the day of the positive test? He has been racing since... Besides, it's not the authorities fault that the case took so long. Contador's team asked for several delays.
I need a GT-hero, because it makes the GT's nicer to watch (at least, that's for me....). Just as with the classics, smaller races etcetera.
The way I think about it (and any doping case), is that a ban should start from the moment a test is positive. When the verdicts is given months later (like this case), then all the results should be erased and the athlete should pay a big penalty.
Anyway, the whole case with all the delays is one big example of how it should not be. The verdict should come quicker, hope the CAS/WADA/UCI and also the athletes and their legal teams...

I was reffering to the opinion, that he is rotten from the start and thoughts about him doping for a long time. seriously you guys believe Contador is the constant doper, who have won all the races thanks to dope?

Could he have been banned from today for two years and additionally loosing his 2011 wins? I think not, because that would be like a three-year-punishment.
Thus, the CAS made the best decision they could do. Which is the worst for Saxobank, though.

Well, is it likely that having won the Tour in 2007 and 2009, he decided 2010 was the right time to dope?

Quite shocking really. I didn't believe CAS would have the balls to do it, and to be honest, I have to say I'm not very happy with this. I have come to enjoy his presence on the road during the last year, which, I believe we'll all miss.

Correction: Suspension from January 25th, 2011 for two years MINUS the five months he already had in 2010, makes return August 5th, 2012
... the five months that weren't really a suspension since he would have stopped riding anyway.
Disgrace. |

Nice world of double standarts we live in, world champion has won his title with banned helmet and he is a hero. Then the best rider of a decade get caught with the amount of substance that gives him no advantage and he is witchhunted. Nice...you must be proud guys.

... I love fan boys. They never make any sense.
One last time: Alberto Contador tested positive for a banned doping substance. If that's no longer enough to ban a rider, then what is? |

I like how they take off the time of the ban he served, but don't add on the time he rode for the period this ban covers

Good decision.
Haven`t expected this. I am not 100% sure yet if the ban is until January 2013 or August 2012. I read both so far.
And as many others already said. The amount is absolutely unimportant as there also must be a reason for the smallest amount and it`t not important if the smallest amount gives him an advantage but the advantage that it gives you in general as the test can`t say on what day he took it. |

To been seen on www.uci.ch:
UCI President Pat McQuaid said: "This is a sad day for our sport. Some may think of it as a victory, but that is not at all the case. There are no winners when it comes to the issue of doping: every case, irrespective of its characteristics, is always a case too many."
And he's totally right about it. Was a Contador-fan, but he'll get a second chance from me when he returns.
And to all the people that are happy with his ban: don't forget that the great one of cycling-history used doping (for some time) when they won their races, such as Eddy Merckx.... Give this guy a second chance when he returns, make the authorities test him a lot, so he can prove he's clean. And when he isn't.... throw him in the ocean..
