To be fair to him, Vacansoleil was his last option.
The other possibility was Unzué's team, but the sponsor said no.
Speaking of which, Unzué's confirmed they've already got everything set with Valverde for 2012
You are forgetting that Valverde is innocent, and a victim of a witch hunt for a significant part of the Spanish fans. |

Well, Ricardo, it's not like you showed any results.

Vacansoleil aren't completly without a chance to be invited to Grand Tours. They have still a small change to get themselves to top 17 of UCI World Ranking.
But anyway, no surprise with Vacansoleil's decision, we all know their doping stand.

I keep saying it. But no matter what the rankings, the ASO/RCS Sport/Unipublic can still turn round and say no.

I do not know why you are so happy. If Ricco does not participate in the GT next year will be a great defeat for cycling ... we would not see a great champion. Yeah, the pharmacy industry mourned his suspension and the lack of publicity it implied. They'll be glad to seeing him again on T.V. Great advertising for a wide range of various medicines. |

Alex Dowsett -> Sky
Too soon.
Also, Radioshack can't be happy.

Well, what else was Dowsett to do, wasnt it his last year as an Under 23?
Glad he went to Sky though, over Radioshack - didnt want a reason to support the latter

Get loaned out to a smaller team. Landbouwkrediet or something.

Not really sure what Landbouwkredit offers that Sky don't
Besides, I dont suppose British Cycling have kept links they once had with teams like Landbouwkredit now that Sky exist.

A smaller environment with less pressure. It's good for a rider to rise slowly. Big leaps are risky for development.

Not signing anyone from the academy is a better example of isso's argument. The best rider in the academy at the moment is Luke Rowe - and he is still only 20.

Me and doddy were talking about Sky's signings and promoting youngsters the other day (it started off as being about Kennaugh, then it escalated).
I was saying at the time that Rowe and Fenn need at least another year before moving up, unless they do monstrously well in the Worlds/Avenir, and even then...

Thats fair enough really. Theyre both still 20, and have not been as successful in Italy as Kennaugh last year, or Swift 2 years ago.

Matthews has had a great season for Team Jayco-Skins, over 10 victories, including wins in Tour de Langkawi and Tour of Wellington. He was also second in the RVV u23 race, and hes only 19. Really hoping Sky signs him |

This must be the surprise of the transfer season. He has felt like the ground stone in Cervelo. Almost mister Cervelo himself. Who will be Cervlo:s GC contender now? |
