Interesting stat development by the Eritrean riders. As for the team, not many changes, core stays intact and good addition with Felline. |

Great season! Looking forward to 2022. Interesting that De Plus isn't the best grand tour cyclist but he still won the tour.

Yeah, the Eritrean really had a boom there. No reason to change the core for now and probably not for the next few years either.

Thanks. I know. And even crazier is that it was an ageing Froome who he was battling with.

Inspired by some of other story writers who update their teams jerseys at the end of the season, I decided to do something similar. But instead with updating with the real jerseys, I decided to do with fantasy jerseys for the teams since I like this as a what if so fantasy jerseys seemed like a better fit.
Credits go to the creators from Le Gruppetto community: tg779, YaëlT, Hansovic, LibertySeguros, CoucouMichel, Evil, Petersagan22, Froomeyy, Akela26, Luckynot. I downloaded more jerseys for each team before deciding which ones to use so sorry if I missed anyone or added someone whose jersey I did not use in the end.
Anyway, here are the new colors we will be seeing the pack starting with the 2022 season, including a Rabobank inspired Jumbo jersey.

Looks good. I love doing the same after a few years. The Jumbo one is awesome, as I think Rabobank is one the best cycling jerseys of all time. I believe LeGruppetto make those jerseys because they have a MG-like forum game, but use real teams, so its great for stories and long careers as well.

Danny Van Poppel and Michael Matthews shared the orange jersey between themselves in the first four stages, with each winning one mass sprint, with Bling also taking a stage win after a late attack with Davide Formolo in the second stage.
Matthews beats Van Poppel to take the orange jersey
Not a lot of attacks on the queens stage up to the Willung Hill, with Simon Yates creating a gap to the others only in the last kilometre. He got a gap of 14 seconds but it was 1 second short of what he needed to beat Michael Matthews. They were matched in the GC after the stage, but the Aussie had the upper hand with two stage wins.
Simon winning for his new team
Due to poor positioning at the start of the Willunga climb, George Bennett was not able to do better than 5th in the GC, which means this is the first year in the last four that we do not have a rider on the podium in Australia. Danny Van Poppel started the race as it started with a stage win, but due to time loses in the Willunga Hill he was only 10th overall.

A much more mountainous profile than what we are used to Down Under. Plenty of attacks on the last climb of the day, with Herrada, Majka and Gesink proving to be the strongest riders of the day. Herrada took it one step further to leave the other two behind an enjoy a early season solo win.

Christoph Berguige played the perfect strategy in the last kilometres of the finishing climb in the second stage as he sat and watched the favorites attacking each other before making his final acceleration in the last corner to get a gap and the stage win with it.
Berguige sprints past Herrada and Pogacar to take the win
A massive crash at the foot of the Xorret de Cati gifted Berguige the overall win as his main rival for the overall, Tadej Pogacar being taken out of contention as well as the entire Jumbo-Visma squad. A group of 3 riders led by Dan Martin managed to drop the young Belgian on the brutal climb, but all of them were quite behind in the GC at that point and were to threat's to his leader's jersey.
Jumbo's rather disappointing race was saved in the last by Eduard Grosu. The Romanian sprinter took the victory after a brilliant lead out from Wout Van Aert.

Groenewegen and Banaszek shared the sprint victories between themselves, with the Jumbo rider taking 2 out of the 3, which also allowed him to top the points classification despite having the same number of points as the Pole.
Groenewegen strikes in his first try of the season
Bob Jungels won the only uphill finish of the race in front of Laurens De Plus, but the Belgian would put quite some distance between himself and everyone else in the fourth stage time - trial to defend his title.
De Plus reminded everyone that getting the rainbow jersey wasn't a fluke

A soft paced first stage allowed Caleb Ewan to take a very unexpected win. The next uphill finish in the next stage would prove to be decisive for the general classification , with Adam Yates taking advantage of a brilliant team work to leave his closest rivals one minute behind.
Adam was untouchable in the decisive stage
The race ended very well for Jumbo with 2 stage wins. First, Van Baarle took advantage of the cobbles at the end of stage four to win the sprint of what was left of the pack after a difficult day, before Kelderman finished off the race with a win in the time - trial. It won't be last year's overall victory, but a stage win and second overall is still a great race for the Dutchman.

After losing the opening team time - trial to Ineos, Jumbo made out the most of the two decisive uphill finishes. In the third stage, Sivakov sprinted away from the strongest riders group inside the last kilometre, with Powless following his move a few moments later when he saw everyone in that group was empty to give Jumbo a 1-2. The same tactics was repeated in the penultimate stage.
Sivakov retains the title

The last cobbled climb saw 4 Jumbo riders making it to a group of 18. Van Aert and Teunissen were quick to give up their own ambitions to set up Danny Van Poppel for the win and the former Dutch champion did not disappoint.

Danny Van Poppel looked set for a third consecutive stage win, but he did not adapt to the awful weather conditions as well as Ewan who managed to beat him to the finish line. Ewan looking very impressive so far, having survived some very difficult stages in Andalucia as well.
