Bit of a pointles post dont you think...
Hehe Crommy. At least you have a car. There is talk of raising the driving age. It better not kick in for next year. I will be soo pissed off if i don't get to rightfully start learning at 17 |

Me too, it's not that fun I thought... Especially when I drive daddy's car, that is too expensive for learning to drive |

it makes sense.
Once you take drivers ed and pass you get your learners permit when you turn 15. You are limited to from 5 am to 9pm with someone who has had there license for more than 5 years. if you go without any violations then in 6 months you get to drive anytime with a supervising adult who has had there license for more than 5 years. After 6 months with no violations you get your full license.

That does make sense to be honest. But how many 15 years do something wrong in those first 6 months? |

No clue. But all i know is I'm 15 and better then most drivers. Right now Im being cautious I go the speed limit and don't do illegal things unlike people. There are a lot of drivers who arent cautious.

Well yeah, the older people think they own the roads. Sometimes their vision is blocked and they cant see the illegal things they are doing. |

They've been talking about that for years - it won't be happening any time soon

One of my mate got his driving licence in the US for the time he was there. He just took the car and drove around the houses, like 1 or 2 miles and that was it, he had his licence delivered.
Don't know if it would have been the same, hadn't he had his French driving licence.
In Franc, given you learn for 20 hours minimum in driving schools and pass your theorical exam, you can drive with an adult who is older than 25 years old and has had his driving licence for more than 5 years (not any adult fitting those conditions though, you have to register their names first).
Then when you're 18 you can pass the licence and drive on your own, having only half of the points during the 2 first years if you drove with older people before, or 3 years if you passed your driving licence at 18 without driving before.
I started at 17, and still have all my points. Got caught in a minor car crash and a more serious one two years ago, none of them was my fault though.
I drive a diesel Renault Clio from 1999, btw.

in Hong Kong, the buerocracy is amazing, you can't be taught at home or get in a car except at the government driving school, where you have to sign up for the whole written test, driving lesson, driving test system from the start. The phillipenes is much better, at no point to you have to get in a car, you just pay a nominal amount (300 pesos) |

Wait....I'm going to work there for 3 weeks in January....are you telling me all the people out there driving didn't have to actually pass a driving test to get a license?
You're scaring me
Still, there's no way it's worse than India or Turkey. Indian roads are like the Wild West... |

Yeah, after finding that out i always made sure that i was never anywhere near the edge of the pavement, but the phillipenens is the most corrupt country in the world so I am not sure whether that is the official rule or just a short cut.
Never been to turkey but Indian roads are awesome, i was stuck in a traffic jam across a dual carrige way which was 10 cars across. |
