A real shame for Stijn having that fall, he was on a really good roll
Lets hope that Van den Broeck puts a smile on his face by winning the Tour de France |

@JuanMotr: Yeah, but he still has some races left that he can make a goal of. Let's hope he makes Tour of Pologne in time.
@ste_18: Let's hope so
@TheManxMissile: Thanks... I guess?
1. I think Eric is 22, turning 23 pretty soon and Stijn is already 23.
2. Depends on the race I'm riding, I usually switch between hard - normal.
@sutty68: If he does, the whole team will smile with him (he just reached his max climb potential, what a timing of the trainer )!
@marcellus51: Thank you very much!
Coming up: The National Championships!

National Championships - Time Trial
Belgium
It was a battle between Monfort, De Gendt and myself.
Checkpoint 1: Monfort is 15" behind De Gendt. I follow at 30" already.
Checkpoint 2: Monfort us 33" behind, I'm 45" behind.
Checkpoint 3: Monfort is 46" behind, I've already lost a minute.
Finish: I made a slight come back, De Gendt wins, I come in 35" later and Monfort finishes a minute later.
Result:
1 | Thomas De Gendt | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | 1h13'19 | | 2 | Eric Lombaerts | Lotto-Belisol | + 35 | IanButler | 3 | Maxime Monfort | BMC Racing Team | + 59 | | 4 | Jurgen Van den Broeck | Lotto-Belisol | + 1'44 | IanButler | 5 | Bart De Clercq | Lotto-Belisol | + 2'44 | IanButler | 6 | Leif Hoste | Accent.Jobs - Willems Veranda’s | + 2'45 | | 7 | Francis De Greef | Lotto-Belisol | + 2'49 | IanButler | 8 | Julien Vermote | Burgos BH - Castilla y Leon | + 3'05 | | 9 | Olivier Kaisen | Lotto-Belisol | + 3'14 | IanButler | 10 | Olivier Clausse | Wallonie-Bruxelles-Crédit Agricole | + 3'18 |
The team did well. Too bad I didn't win, though.
Other Countries
Netherlands: Terpstra
Spain: L.L. Sanchez (again)
USA: Vandevelde
France: Coppel
Italy: Nibali (again)
Germany: Martin (who else?)
Road races are up fairly soon! |

National Championships - Road Race
First let me start off with some bad news and some good news.
Bad news: It's very unlikely I'll appear at the start of the Tour of Pologne. The doctor says it'll take a little more time to get back into the game. So the first race I'll ride is Eneco Tour, which is a long way away, but I'm looking forward to it anyway, this resting is not my style.
Good news: There's another change of schedule because of it. So after the World Port Classics, I'll ride GP Jef - Scherens. Then, instead of going to Canada, I'll race the Tour of Britain, followed by Tour Franco - Belge a couple of weeks later. There I will probably end my season.
Belgium
The race was destined to come to a mass sprint. Van Avermaet came out as the strongest of the (reduced) pack.
Other Countries
Netherlands: Poels
Spain: Esteve
USA: Farrar (again)
France: Voeckler
Italy: Visconti
Germany: Greipel
Denmark: Breschel
Switzerland: Albasini
Portugal: Costa
Well, there you are. No national jerseys for Lotto-Belisol. I wish I could've been at the road race, I might have beaten Van Avermaet! However, it's always easy to say that afterwards.
In a few days, the 100th edition of the Tour kicks off, and Eric will be there. It starts with a prologue. Bye! |

I can't believe Eric don't win to De gent in the time trial !
What a disapointement !
Van Avermaet winning the belgian jersey on the sprint ?
Where was Boonen ?
Too bad Stijn was not there to take what would have been an easy victory for him!
No national jersey, that's bad for LTB, hope Vdb will take a revenge for the team in the Tour de France.
What are Lotto's objectives for TDF? And Eric's ones ?
Kom jersey for Eric or will he just help Jurgen take the win ?
(HS: 100th TDF, what will be your stage variant ?
Will you go with 2012 TDf or have you something interesting in store ?)

@Marcellus51: Thanks for the reply!
Boonen was just behind Van Avermaet, taking silver. His sprinting abilities are not what they once were.
Lotto puts everything on VDB for this year's TDF, so an all-climbing team to support VDB in the mountains. Eric has no expectations and will work 100% for Jurgen. However, a breakaway/stage win/KoM jersey (with some luck) is not impossible.
Since I'm not too handy with databases and editors, I'm afraid there won't be a stage variant. I've installed Cyanide's variants but they'll be in effect in 2014. So the profile of the 100th TDF will be the same as 2012, but since I didn't do reports on TDF last season (Eric & Stijn didn't participate), it'll be the first time reporting those stages.

Le Tour De France - Preview
This is the 100th edition of Tour De France and I'm glad to be part of it!
Lotto-Belisol has come here with a full-mountain squad, to help Jurgen get that win he deserves.
Tour de France 2012 Top 10
Last year Andy Schleck went home with his first (real) Tour De France victory. This year he's even more motivated, so we'll have to watch out for him.
Lotto-Belisol Squad
If this isn't a very strong squad! Meersman, Vandewalle, Dockx and Dennis Vanendert can play domestiques in the flat and hilly stages, while Jelle Vanendert, De Greef, De Clerq and myself can help Jurgen in the mountains!
Participants
The ones to really watch out for are Christopher Froome, Vincenzo Nibali, Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck.
Goals
It goes without saying that we go for the n° 1 place with Jurgen Van Den Broeck. Besides that, if there is room to do so, Jelle might go for KoM jersey and/or a stage win. I may be granted a free role in some races, and will definitely try to ride a good TDF, GC-wise or victory-wise.
That's it, we'll see you at the prologue, in Belgium! |

Van den Broeck - Yellow
Vanendert - Polkadot
Lombaerts - White
I see a great tour in the future for Lotto-Belisol! |

Le Tour De France - Stage 1
The first stage is a prologue of 6.1km in Liège. The one who wins here will be the first wearer of the yellow jersey. Favorites for this prologue are Cancellara, Wiggins, Froome, Martin and De Gendt.
My first taste of Le Tour De France was sweet. I really enjoy being here; the atmosphere of constant excitement, the tension in the bus that you just know something important is about to go down, the magic of thousands of people working with one common goal: making this 100th edition of Tour De France succeed!
I was off!
I raced a decent prologue, with some very minor mistakes.
As I crossed the finish line, I quickly looked behind me. A provisional 3th place, 1" behind L.L. Sanchez and 8" behind Tony Martin, not bad!
I started to think that maybe I could pull something if I get chosen for the WC TT.
However, winning there will not be an option, as this man takes the cake.
Spartacus wins the prologue and will be the first wearer of the yellow jersey!

I finally beat De Gendt in a time trial! It's only by thousands of a second, but still, I'm happy! Especially since prologues aren't my best feature.
What's even better, my first day in my TDF-debut, and I get to go on the podium!
Which makes me wonder: is the Young Jersey possible for me?

Only 17 young riders, many of them are sprinters. I think I have a shot here! Since I already won Tirreno-Adriatico in my career, I may be the favorite for the jersey. The biggest threats are Geniez and maybe Meyer. But since there are many TT km, I should be able to put some distance between us quickly!
See you tomorrow, for a flat-isch/hill-isch kind of stage! |
