Apparently, Contador attacked the moment he saw Sánchez had a puncture.
If that's true....

its in english as well
but if his stamina really is the problem, we'll find out today (again) I guess.
No, because todays stage is only 119km. So the only thing we can find out today, is how he recuperates
don't confuse stamina with recuperation
still, going 70km in the attack is quite an effort |

12:59 CET 42km/77km to go
And even since we wrote that, things have changed. The gap is down to 0:25. De Koot has dropped out of the lead group, and Taaramae has attacked out of it. And who jumps up to the now-chasing group but Alberto Contador
13:02 CET
Taaramae has been caught and Contador is now leading the group as it goes up the first climb of the day.
13:04 CET
A puncture for Luis Leon Sanchez -- very bad timing for the yellow jersey wearer, now that Contador has seized control of the escape group.

Sánchez has so far had a crash and 2 punctures. So he's lost a bit of time.
Also, Contador's group is now losing time on the downhill, as could be expected.

If that's correct, so much for the better

Surely David López is worth more behind chasing than blindingly following Contador to MAYBE take 4 secs bonus from him?
Just stop and wait for your leader already.

Chasers caught. That should increase the chances that their teams will aid in the pursuit

To win the overall, Contador needs to win the stage by 1:40 from Sánchez. Unlikely, but possible.

Astana team chief Alain Gallopin made it clear Alberto Contador would keep fighting until the finish line: "As long as the finish line has not been crossed, we’ll keep trying. I’m a little bit disappointed to see the Saxo Bank lead the chase to protect their second place. They harmed the break for sure," he told France Television.
how dare they
