Wouldn't compare TVG condition with Froomes. You don't suffer that much if you have bronchitis, just look at Pozzovivo who finished fifth in the giro last year even though he had bronchitis almost the whole giro.
Says the guy who has never actually had bronchitis. What are you even talking about? |

I heard news from team sky interview that froome was sick and had bronchitis those last 2 stages and that's why he lost a big junk of time.
And still outperforms the 99% of the peloton?
He didn't perform as he should today that was pretty obvious and you can see that during the stage he didn't feel good during the climbs. But it's things of the pass for him now since he's won the tour
See this is why he wont have any credibility in my eyes at least. Normally riders when are ill struggle really badly (look van Garderen). I'm sure 95% of the peloton would love to climb as well as he did whilst suffering from Bronchitis.
Just when I thought he might be human and vulnerable sometimes he goes out and says he was ill on this stage

That's just one example. Some riders are forced to retire when they have bronchitis. Laurens ten Dam got bronchitis this TdF and finished in the Grupetto on every stage since. Didier abandoned because of Bronchitis. UrĂ¡n got bronchitis in the Giro and lost loads of time.
Don't know about Pozzovivo, but it would've been quite remarkable to be able to finish 5th despite having bronchitis throughout the entire giro.
Good point. Well im not an expert, but there must be different levels of bronchitis. |

I didn't know that you knew about my medical history. I've read some of your post and i could ask you the same thing. Calling people delutional and etc, just because they don't got the same opinion as you. It's ok that you don't like Froome and Sky(Im not a fan either), but is the hate towards them and their fans really necessary? |

What's sad to think about is the 1:33 seconds Quintana lost in the side-wind on stage 3(?). I don't think Froome could've done anything differently than he did this tour, meaning Quintana would most likely have won if it wasnt for that stage...

If...if..if..if..if
It had been different tour and yes Froome would have done many things differently. |

I so enjoyed that stage. Great rides by Quintana and Pinot and Nibali. To me Nairo was the best rider on the tour (excuding Sagan), but Sky was the best team. The race was won on stage 2. |

You're wrong because if froome didn't took the time there he would of been more aggressive during the 2nd second week and would of made even more damage and kill definitely the suspenses |

How can Quintana be the best rider excluding sagan if he didn't bring the yellow jersey ?
No way that can happen, Team sky just killed it and Froome was the best rider. He brings home 2 jerseys in his collection. The fact that Quintana lost the tour because of stage 2 is bullshit because his team had to protected him better and that's what happen when you're not well protected. It's part of the race to lost time with wind. Chris froome and his team just was smarter and stronger in this race. Quintana just give his all during the 3rd week but the tour is about being good everyday and being aware of your surrounding, if you got a bad day you try to limit your loss that's it. The way Quintana rode made me think about someone that is procrastinating waiting the last stages to take time |

If you think Quintana only waited to the last 2 stages to try and take time from Froome then you didn't watch the race

The beauty of sport is that the result is unpredictable and the best competitor doesn't always win.
What I think is that if you traded teams for Quintana and Froome is that Quintana would have won. Totally hypothetical of course. |

Stop fanboying and look realistically. Yes, Quintana lost a lot of time on stage 2, BUT it wasn't anyone else's fault. How didn't Conta loose time then? It was experience that Quintana lacked. On the other hand, Froome was the strongest before the Alps. A beast on stage 10. However, telling that he would have ridden differently if the difference was smaller is bullshit. If the difference was smaller, Froome would have to watch out both for Valverde and Quintana. He tried a small attack on PdB but the headwind was too strong and the others could follow(even Contador and Nibali). Even if he made a strong attack Quintana would follow. If the difference was smaller he wouldn't take the risk of following attacks on the saddle by tempo and would exhaust himself. Because the only reason he had to follow on the saddle was that he could allow himself loosing 30 seconds, but saving energy. In the end despite all the conservative riding after stage 10 he cracked. So yeah, Quintana lost the Tour on stage 2. Was it his fault? Yes and he can't blame anyone or anything. Was Froome the strongest? Apparently not, at least not in the mountains. Yet, who won the Tour? Christopher Froome. Was it deserved? Yes. Does anything else matter? No. |

You people watched a different race than me then, what i saw was Froome sprinting for every second in the second week.

Just caught up with yesterday's sensational stage. It really was a cracker and I have thoroughly enjoyed the racing in this tears tour, easily the best of the last four editions. Team Sky have been taken to the limit in the Alps.
Delighted to see Quintana's effort, a shame he could not get the stage win. You know of all the big 4 I think I like the young Colombian the best. He ain't a pretentious prat like hypocrites choice Nibbles or the much maligned 'alien' Froome.exe, and whilst he lacks some of Conta's panache there is something likeable about seeing a little Colombian climber kicking off on the climbs.
Quintana should be multiple tour winner eventually, but he may feel he could have win this one, certainly losses in Zeeland hurt as you feel that loss could have been prevented.
The blinkered sky haters complain about everything don't they? Poels the latest object of their absolute BS hate campaign, oh yes also not understanding that ill riders performance is not same from rider to rider.
Looking forward to Vuelta I think. Hope Froome, Quintana and Aru will be there in decent form.

OKay, after reading some very good posts, and some BS-fanboy posts, here is my unbiased conclusion:
1. Froome: Was very strong the first week, stayed out of trouble excellent. Was especially amazing at the cobbles, and the 1st MTF. Looked "umhuman", or was it in great shape? Think the last, as he declined a bit in the 3rd week, suffering a cold / bronchitis (hey, I'm a doctor, and I know a lot of people call a cold a bronchitis......). Still, he deserves the win as he has been the best in the 3 weeks.
2. Quintana: Decent in the 1st and 2nd week, only showing his real strength in the Alps. Added with having payed to less attention in the stage to Neeltje Jans, he was weaker the Froome. Could have have won, but didn't.
3. Valverde: attacked more than I've ever seen from him. Deserved 3rd place.
4. Nibali: Great comeback in week 3, with a deserved win at La Toussuirre. Showed that to win the tour, yu must be good in all 3 weeks.
5. Contador: Just didn;t have the legs. Apparently, the Giro has costed him too much energy. But I think he made the right choice, as he is a GT-winner this year. Else probably 3rd in this Tour.
6. Gesink: after all he has gone through, I must give all the credits to him. Strong in the Pyrenees, declining a bit in the Alps, but absolutely great Tour from him! And with Valverde and Contador declining, hope he can get a podium in the next 1-2-3 years.
7. Pinot, Rolland, Bardet: Nice for them that they were in the attack almost every mountain stage, but to me, that was a sign of a bigger chance of being doped than Froome. Like Rolland: 2nd in the stage over the Lacets, and the next day almost a stage win again..... Oh well, probably because I dont like French riders.
8. Team Sky: I must say that I like their tactic to let some of the domestique save energy the one day, so they could be the main domestique the next. Just as Poels was saving a lot of energy the first 2 weeks, and being extremely strong in the last week. Great tactic!
9. Doping: Oh well, again Froome was accused of doping. Why? Because he was extremely strong in the first mountain stage. The rest of the Tour, he wasn't that strong, but good enough to win. The way the (mostly French) press and the public reacted was really disgusting to me. Booing (stop being a cow, you morons), spitting, even throwing urine..... How low can you go, even with an IQ of less than an appletree. And when Quintana does the same at the Alpe, that is normal? He did the same as Froome in the Pyrenees, so why no accusations towards him??
Time will tell, but to me, Froome is clean.
10. Fanboys: You are probably very proud at yourself, with your swearing and accusing. Savely behind your laptop, tablet, etc, being anonymous. You are the people (together with these lunatics along the roads) that turn the great sport of cycling into a kind of football (I like team A, so I hate team B....). Thinking it is funny when a rider crashes, hating it when a rider rides great 1 stage, etcetera.
I hope you all grow up 1 day and teach your kids that this is a wrong way of acting....
Overall, I'v really enjoyed this Tour. I like the layout of the stages, with some interesting and decisive stages in week 1 (wind, cobbles, hills) and the short mountain stages in the last week. Already looking forward to the Vuelta!!
