5. 73SP with 78ACC (ACC didn't improve back then I think so that meant he was expected to raise SP to about 78)
Mind you, Petacchi had 85SP, so 78 isn't a star

Why would he be in the DB?
The Giant only has a few thousand riders and teams. Sure it can include indonesian teams like Polygon Sweet Nice and the legendary Samai Samai, but there's no way it could possibly include a guy who's already 21 and whose greatest achievement is coming second in something called the 'Anatomic Jock Race'

And Boom will develop in to a stageracer, right?
And Wiggins can't do shit in the mountains, he doesn't deserve more than 56-57 or so, right?

Polygon Sweet Nice is Irish, god damnit!
I posted a quote from a thread from '08 in the news thread where somebody joked about Froome winning Le Tour. Scary.

You're actually overrating him substantially

You don't need to go as far as 2006 for that

Haha Tinkov is in the database
The person, not the team
EDIT: Nico Keinath and Pieter Vanspeybroeck, future stars...
Dan Martin 53MO and no potential
Who the hell is David Talbott and why is he so damn promising?
Bakelants move over for the much more promising Peter Jacobs
Good: Adria Mobil has very high potential youngsters Kiserlovski and Spilak
Not so Good: And their even better teammate Joze Senekovic of the same age
Oh god Sergei Kolesnikov and Miha Svab...what hole did those two fall down?

Well, I can explain a few:
At the time, most of the named above were actually correct considering the junior/u23 results. Hell. Nose was a monstertalent rated much higher than Kiserlovski and Spilak same goes for Svab.
Pieter Jacobs was actually very good as a junior in the Clasique des Alpes. But proved to be shit later on
David Talbott was a forum member of PPDB forums and was put in the DB as a sort of copy protection. He used to keep a blog about his race results on the PPDB forum
Same way a certain Ruben Lampe always managed to pop up in several Stanosbase and even a PCM Daily DB in the past. Damn that Lampe guy had talent
All I'm saying is, its easy to rip on things that went wrong (decent juniors/espoirs who fucked up). But there's also a lot that actually achieved decent results.
Not more than once I see names winning at the pro's and thinking "damn, I gave him the right potential years ago (or plakker, or some pcm daily db maker..etc). So that's fun as well

You're missing the point.
I'm not critcizing anyone, giving potentials is like playing the lottery and is 99% about luck.
But it's hilarious in hindsight to see that X was rated high or Y low
It's not about ripping on who made the DB, it's about how funny we as a group rated people
Although in the case of Lofkvist what's happening to him is simply what dozens of people in internet forums predicted would happen back in 2005-2006: you can't have a young guy ride so many top races so early, it hurts development and makes them very injury prone.

Yeah I do found it hilarious just like you, I understand. Apart from the Dutchies I was convinced Grabovsky would be Sagannating it by now |

Any chance Alexandr Pliuschin was in that database isso? He always struck me as a very highly rated young rider who never really amounted to much. I will always remember his constant attacking in the 2010 TDF.

A quick google shows that he won pretty much every youth race he participated in in America in 2003 and a few decent local TT results in his US state circuits:

He was certainly in the 2007 PPDB Giant, and well-rated, since that is what the ManGame originated from. (Spelt as Pluchkin)
It's also why some of the other names isso mentioned are a little less surprising to me. Vanspeybrouck, Fothen, Brajkovic, Burghardt, Dekker etc

Anyway, even Cyanide had their hand in putting half/fictional riders in the DB.
CyM2 had half the cya dev team in as free transfers
Then there were a few editions with Jonathan Bridge and Miguel Indorain... |
