A good sprint from Demare against the Big guns Smile

tpinot
@sutty68: Well, Démare is one of the best right now and that 3rd position was quite a disappointment.

Stage 3

img4.hostingpics.net/pics/332432PCM0006.jpg

Another flat stage designed for pure sprinters, all our hopes were on Arnaud and when we were starting to get close to the finish, Matthieu, William and I brought him to the front. With my shape not as good as their, I was meant to take Arnaud's wheel to avoid other sprinters getting behind him.

img4.hostingpics.net/pics/379814PCM0007.jpg

The sprint again did not went as well as we expected, Arnaud did not managed to match the speed of Peter Sagan (EMI) who won in front of Andrea Guardini (ITA).

Stage 4

img4.hostingpics.net/pics/169935PCM0009.jpg

Another stage for the sprinters, even though the last kilometers were not flat at all, add to that the length (247 km) and everything was making Sagan (EMI) the favorite.

He did not disappoint, he easily won with a gap of 9" on Mark Cavendish (TEL) who took the second position.
Arnaud could not do better than 7th and I managed to enter the top 10 with a satisfying 9th position.

61 riders were counted in the time of Cavendish and Chris Froome (SKY) was not one of them. Thibaut thanks to the perfect work of Cédric took an advantage on most of his opponents.
And to conclude the stage, I was called on the podium to be rewarded with the White Jersey of the Youth Classification.

SSJ2Luigi
nice to wear the white jersey Wink

tpinot
@sutty68: the man is the only one who managed to win 9 stages in only one TdF so losing to him is not a shame.

@SSJ2Luigi: I was glad to wear it, and it's an honor for me even though it will be hard to bring it to Paris.

Tour de France

Stage 5

img4.hostingpics.net/pics/512121PCM0011.jpg

This time the stage was made for the punchers, the finish was not long enough for a pure climber but Thibaut had a chance here after is second position in Liège - Bastogne - Liège.

Our team was meant to do the chase despite not being the leader's team.
So when attacked of GC Contenders occurred, I was forced to bring them back in the pack. Our strategy was not let the breakaway fight for victory but the other teams wanted to fight for the victory.

img4.hostingpics.net/pics/637259PCM0012.jpg

With 2.4 kilometers to go, the breakaway was no more and Thibaut was at the front with Jelle Vanendert (LTB). BMC was forced to work for their jersey as Ben Hermans (BMC) was still in the group behind.

img4.hostingpics.net/pics/646525PCM0013.jpg

Thibaut was strong, and he resited to the amazing acceleration from Peter Sagan (EMI), he took the victory but not the yellow jersey.

To my own surprise, I came into the top 10 finishing 6th of the stage and 9th in GC.

img4.hostingpics.net/pics/295580PCM0014.jpg

Once again I was called on the podium, the white Jersey is still mine Grin

Stage 6

img15.hostingpics.net/pics/394572PCM0016.jpg

Another hilly stage, but much easier than stage 5, Alex Geniez worked hard in the last kilometers to avoid any attempts from our opponents and it led to a sprint in a reduced group.
Peter Sagan (EMI) had no one to contest him the victory. Thibaut took the second position, I find myself once again in the top 10 at the 8th position.

Stage 7

img15.hostingpics.net/pics/125958PCM0018.jpg

One of the Time Trials of the race, I had no expectation there except perhaps keep the White Jersey one more day. I failed for 10" against my former team mate Adam Yates (GNT).
The TT was won by Andrey Amador Bikkazakova (MOV) ahead of Tejay Van Garderen (BMC) and Richie Porte (SKY).
Thibaut did the Time Trial of his life taking the 6th position and by beating all his main opponents for the GC.
Another good result also for Jérémy which make another top 10 for the team.

SSJ2Luigi
surprisingly good TT result from Pinot. I'm not used that those Shock. Roy is almost always good for a top 10 in a time trail based on my expierences Wink

tpinot
sutty68: he was but once again Sagan was there to spoil the party Wink

@SSJ2Luigi: The TT had many corners and it was very tactical, pure power wasn't much needed in that TT and it results in a very good TT from Thibaut.

Tour de France

Stage 8

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/700534PCM0020.jpg

And finally came the moment that most of us feared, the Mountains. Thibaut, by doing an insane Time Trial, proved us that we can trust him for the GC. None of us wanted to burn energy in a breakaway so we all stayed around our leader.
The breakaway was composed of good riders who had lost time in the previous stages. Big names were Ryder Hesjedal (GRS), Pierre Rolland (EUC) and Peter Stetina (BMC) team mates of the race leader.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/753786PCM0021.jpg

Once our jobs were down, William, Matthieu, Arnaud and I went inside the Gruppetto.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/343871PCM0022.jpg

At the front, in the final climb of the day, Alex was making the pace. Not to hard as there are still 2 weeks to go but enough hard to eliminates the riders who shall not be here.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/200886PCM0023.jpg

With 5 kilometers to go, Warren Barguil (GNT) attacked, Thibaut saw a good opportunity to win some seconds and he immediately jumped in his wheel. The cooperation did not last long as Thibaut was clearly the strongest. Behind him Van Garderen was quite isolated and he had to relly on Astana for the chase.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/643276PCM0024.jpg

Thibaut resited to the come back of the Astana boys and he took his second victory in the TdF.
Andy Schleck (IAM) ended 8" while Rein Taaramae (AST) ended 17" later.

Tour de France

Stage 9

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/972521PCM0028.jpg

We now had the Leader Jersey, the race was us to make and so we decided to let 14 riders leave early in the stage. Zdenek Stybar (TEL) was the most dangerous rider of the break but he was already 13'23 behind Thibaut.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/429905PCM0029.jpg

Jérémy did a lot of work today in the stage to avoid any big guns to attack and to control the breakaway. He was seconded by Matthieu when the road was less steep.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/740464PCM0030.jpg

In the last climb, Jimmy Turgis took the lead of the pack with Alex and Thibaut in his wheel. The plan was to get rid of all the "useless" riders of the pack.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/527545PCM0031.jpg

With less than 15 kilometers to go, Alex was leading the pack with a normal pace but it seemed that it was already too much for most of our opponents. They quietly slow the pace as there are still many days to go.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/123687PCM0032.jpg

With 10 kilometers to go, a group of 5 riders tried to escape the pack. There were many good riders inside that group and this is why Alex did not wait to bring them back.
The group was composed of:
- Andy Schleck (IAM)
- Rein Taaramae (AST)
- Tejay Van Garderen (BMC)
- Chris Froome (SKY)
- Richie Porte (SKY)

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/339749PCM0033.jpg

But it's finally with less than 3 kilometers to go that a real leading group got formed. Rein Taaramae (AST), Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) and Andy Schleck (IAM) were gone to fight for the stage.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/764274PCM0034.jpg

But of course it's the guy who did the less in the stage that had the possibilities of winning. Thibaut never tried to increased his lead and he only followed attacks from his opponents. He was the fresher in the end and he took another victory (the third) on the french roads.

Hi to all, I'm sorry for the lack of reports this past few weeks but every year when the TdF is coming I have a lack of motivation playing PCM.
The story is not over yet as I still have a TdF to end. I think that after that I will move from PCM12 to PCM14 with a new story slightly different to this one.

Stage 10

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/214702PCM0038.jpg

That stage was very welcomed after the two days in the mountains, we had time to recover from our efforts of the first week and tomorrow is the rest day.

The stage was not easy though as Fly Emirates was willing to give Peter Sagan a new victory.

Our sprint train was too strong for the other team so every sprinter was fighting to get Arnaud's wheel.

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/443457PCM0039.jpg

Unfortunately, our sprinter started a bit too early and he got pass by Sagan right on the line.
Concerning the GC, no big changes ass everyone arrived in the same time.
