Tour Down under last year. Valverde 2nd on GC, Gerrans 1st. Gerrans mechanical. Valverde went to the front to....tell the other teams to stop riding.

That is not the Tour.

No. Gaining an odd minute on Froome wont help when he strikes back in the mountains and gains three more without problems.

Belkin was already riding, so why should they stop riding? Because someone is going to wait half a minute for a wheel? That's just stupidty of Movistar.

I recorded the stage and i just watched it again.

- The gap to Kittel's group started with over 100 kms to go.
- The gap was 1'45 when Belkin went to the front with 100 km to go.
- With 98 km to go the gap was in 1'10.
- With 96 km to go the break was caught and the difference to Kittel group was 1 minute. No sign of Belkin riders at the front.
- With 88 km to go no Belkin rider at the front, just OPQS with Saxo behind and the gap in 1'10.
- With 87 km to go you see Rui Costa speaking to OPQS guys in front of the peloton and there was no Belkin rider in there. The image then shows Valverde stopped.
- The next image is of Boeckmans escaping with 85.5 km to go.
- Then with 83.9 km to go you see Belkin at the front.

Only one thing to say: LIARS!

Three teams swapping off at front peloton
Belkin, Omega Pharma-Quickstep and Saxo-Tinkoff has riders swapping turns at the front of the lead peloton that is now just 1'35" behind the six stage leaders.

15:11
Seven Belkin riders at the front
The front peloton is now dominated by the Belkin team. There are seven from the Dutch squad now working with riders from Omega Pharma-Quickstep to try and keep the splits in the peloton open.

15:15
Six lead by just 20"
Niemiec, Gene, Perez, Lemoine, Boeckmans and Maté earn one last mention... because they are about to be swallowed up by the first peloton that continues to be led by Belkin.

15:25
Rojas in the lead group...
The dominant teams in the front peloton are Omega Pharma-Quickstep, Belkin and this two squads are insisting with the pace setting but Saxo-Tinkoff has a number of riders – including Contador – tucked in just behind. Rojas (MOV) is another sprinter who has made the front selection.

15:29
Valverde with flat rear tyre
There are four Movistar riders out of the lead group after a puncture for Valverde.

So you are saying the person doing the official Tour updates is a liar as well? Belkin had been on the front for at least half an hour already when Valverde punctured and were still mentioned a few minutes before the puncture.

Every Belkin rider and director being interviewed says that creating echelons was their tactic of the day, which is logical since they have a great squad for it. You think this is an excuse they came up with after the puncture?

I'm relieved to read this. But I still think revenge was also a motivator for Belkin to increase their effort.

Lol just saying it happens in the Tour, and you also know that but are too disappointed to admit it. What if it was Mollema with a flat? I bet they would ride aswell. You are a hypocrit.

He has a weak team. It can be used as a weapon on several stages.

And your point being?

But laugh away i still say that if Porte wins a GT he is more doped than Contador, Froome and Armstrong put together.

I'm not talking about Porte, I'm talking about Quintana. And why say he is a bad TT'ist? Just because his colombian and the stereotype that they only know how to climb and they only know that and they can't ride on flat?

According to De Kort, Kittel missed the echelons because of a mechanical.

Ya, this is absolutely right.

But what today did show is that Froome has to attack on the mountain, because there are only 3 more stages left that finish on the top. He cant just sit and allow Contador and Mollema to be on his wheel.

And it also gave a clear indication that Team Sky isent where they are supposed to be and that fact is dangerous, and loosing Hagen yesterday can prove to be costly.

So in the end it´s all down to the form of Froome vs Contador, and i dont believe Contador has what it takes and he will loose more than a min on the 3 stages that finish up. Unless he of course gets to form a alliance with Valverde, Rodriguez and Quintana, because a Froome alone, will have it very very hard if all three keeps that punch attack all up the mountain.

Ok so this is the one time I have totally missed a Tour stage this year in its entirety, no twitter, nothing due to work.

So glanced at the results...W...T...F???

Looking forward to watching the highlights tonight - was it:

B crosswinds & crashes
or

Asking your question: No, it might be tactic but they were not at the front of the peloton when Valverde stopped. Not for 15 km before that.

Watch the video from 100 km to go and Valverde stopping and confirm that Belkin was only at the front until 96 km to go.

The site chooses some words to describe what is happening. On the Portuguese Eurosport the guys were asking why was Belkin at the front with 100 km to go and the answer was maybe because some GC guy was at Kittel's group. But there wasn't and Belkin then left the front and only came back after Valverde stopped.

Watch the video and see Rui Costa speaking to Omega Pharma guys, the only team at the front for several kms. It's a fact. It might be their strategy but they didn't gave a damn about the reason why some GC guy was behind.

I'm afraid getting in with my account won't tell you anything about portuguese access

They blocked portuguese people coz they know they ruined Rui Costa by stopping him.

You could put Froome without a team that he would still win. And once again, Contador is not on Froome level and I'll bet he on even finish on the podium in Paris. The podium will be Froome-Mollema-Quintana.

I watched the moment Valverde flatted in a vod on Sporza.

Bassicly what happened:

- Peleton is slowing down at the food/drink zone. Only Quick-Step is in the lead. This goes on for like a minute.
- Valverde flats, still only Quick-Step taking turns.
- Valverde is chasing at 30 seconds with 3 team-mates, still only Quick-Step at the front.
- Some time later, Belkin hits the front and starts riding.

While Belkin were riding before and after the Valverde flat, at the moment Valverde flatted, only Quick-Step was taking turns, and they still were untill a few minutes after the Valverde flat. Then Belkin hit the front.

Definitely not the fairest thing to do. But it has happened before.
