Thanks for the many comments!
fernando97: Let's hope so, thanks
FreitasPCM: That's true!
fcancellara: that'd be great
ste_18: If he can be beaten, Roberto will find a way
Wild Dog: Actually you're quite right, the greater the race, the better Roberto usually does
Daggen: Well, with only 2 stages left, he wasn't going to give up then. In fact, he's never given up a race so far
sutty68: That's the main thing, here. The Amstel is still a very desired race for Roberto, now, though. Maybe next year
Jakstar22: The day Gilbert retires, maybe |

This is great story. However, there's one problem... Every time I come on, I have to go through multiple pages because you post so quick.
Spoiler Of course, I'm kidding, it's great how fast you do it. |

La Flèche Wallonne 2014
A new chance for Roberto, who was still looking for his first victory of the season on the Northern Hemisphere.
It's safe to say Roberto had a plan. A plan which involved 3 riders and ended in 1 victory.
Rui Costa spend the second half of the day defending Roberto.
30km from the finish, Roberto's tactical game started.
The first sting brought the group down to a mere 12 riders. Nieve slipped with them as planned.
The second sting came fairly soon, before anyone have had the chance to recuperate. Nieve blew his legs to pieces for half a minute.
The distance he created was enough and Roberto was strong enough to hold on to it! His first Flèche Wallonne.
1. Roberto Velásquez
2. Andy Schleck +24"
3. Fränk Schleck
4. Philippe Gilbert
5. Johny Piqué
Unfortunately, Roberto came down with the flu the very next day. He would be fit to race Liège, but he wouldn't be 100%. |

Liège - Bastogne - Liège 2014
Defending his title, Roberto would have a hard time, missing the final percentages because of his flu.
Costa did an excellent job all day long, giving Roberto the much needed help!
It came down to a sprint with a rather large group.
1 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | 6h50'35 | | 2 | Andy Schleck | Radioshack Nissan Trek | s.t. | | 3 | Jelle Vanendert | Lotto Belisol | s.t. | | 4 | Roberto Velásquez | Colombia Coldeportes | + 25 | IanButler | 5 | Johny Piqué | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | | 6 | Tony Martin | Omega Pharma-Quick-Step Cycling Team | s.t. | | 7 | Igor Anton | Mipfre - Euskadi | s.t. | | 8 | Fränk Schleck | Omega Pharma-Quick-Step Cycling Team | s.t. | | 9 | Thomas De Gendt | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | | 10 | Alberto Contador | Team Saxo Bank | + 49 | |
Roberto:
It was extremely tough today. I missed the 100% form for the final sprint. I want to thank Rui for today, he was a great team mate. Let's hope I'm 100% next year. Now I'm fully concentrated of the Giro |

Man, Roberto tricked us all today. He should really thank Costa and Nieve. That victory was a really well deserved one.

Pity you only won one race. Again, maybe next year Roberto can make the triple. |

He's been very fragile at the moment, like Luis Ocana. Let's hope his story is less tragic... |

At least he won Fleche...
Come on Roberto, what's the matter with you (lazy bastard!)
No, anyway. Good luck in the Giro - he'll smash everyone with at least 15 minutes ^^
