@PCM rulezz: Let's hope so, De Gendt is very strong too!
@ste_18: Finishing before Nibali and Froome in a 52km TT isn't something easily done thanks!
@JuanMotr: Thanks, for the many posts! Let's try to make this Dauphinée even better.
@sutty68: I agree, Boasson Hagen was just unstoppable today. Though it's a shame to just miss out on that stage win! |

The Dauphinée - Stage 6
My job today was making the pace on the Grand Colombier and delivering Jurgen Van Den Broeck at the foot of Col de Richemond.
So that's what I did, at the foot of the Grand Colombier I started to pull.
No more than 30 riders were left in the front group after the climb of the Colombier, I just had to lead him in the descend and then it was up to him.
Col de Richemond started, my job was done. I dropped out of the front group and rode my own pace.
John Gadret won by a late attack. Froome won the sprint for the second place, Jurgen was third.
I finished 3'34" later, having done a great job!
Judging by the climb, I have to say that Jurgen is one of the strongest climbers in the peloton this year. I think he has a real shot at the win in TDF. Contador will be weaker because of the Giro, Evans is getting older, Andy Schleck didn't really impress so far... But we'll see, you never know!

Andy Schleck never impress before the Tour
VDB has to win this year's tour, with such a strong team.

The Dauphinée - Stage 7
This could well be my favorite race of the year. I love Col de la Colombière and I've climbed Joux-Plane many a time. Today I would try and get a stage win, and when I got up this morning, I felt I could take on anyone on these mountains.
Van Den Broeck gave me green light and I attacked on the climb of Col de la Colombière.
I quickly joined Pierre Rolland and Rob Ruijgh, who had escaped earlier in the race.
We got over the Colombière okay and we were heading for Cluze, a rather large city, but a beautiful one.
Then we went straight to the foot of Col de Joux-Plane, one of my personal favorites. After a couple 100m, Ruijgh dropped.
In the peloton, a group had been formed, consisting of Nibali, Froome, Gesink and Van Den Broeck.
But the stage win was long gone as Rolland and I crossed the summit of this climb. It is said to be one of the most beautiful cols in the world, and I agree, you can even see the Mont Blanc from up here!
Nibali broke away and Gesink dropped, so Jurgen and Froome were chasing. But being an excellent descender, he wouldn't be caught.
Rolland and I were heading for Morzine.
And then we saw it, with the ascending road which is the climb to Avoriaz. A nice climb, but not in the profile today.
I launched the sprint!
Nooo! Damn it. He was faster and takes the stage win. This is a blow.

De Greef is riding extremely well. I may have missed out on the stage win, but since there's only one race left, I'm pretty much certain of the KoM jersey, which isn't too bad!
However, the overwhelming feeling at the moment is disappointment. I'll see you tomorrow for the decisive stage. |

After I washed away the disappointment of yesterday, I started feeling very happy about that KoM jersey. It's a nice one to add to my collection (with the Giro 2012 KoM jersey as the greatest one!). So I look forward to the NC TT, where I hope to perform well and maybe take that jersey home for a year!
Stijn has raced ProRace Berlin today, I'm sure he will report on it soon! |

Pppffff, that was close, too bad Roland was faster in the end. But if you never try, you never win.

@FreitasPCM: Very close, but I'd rather won
@JuanMotr True, maybe the Tour offers Eric another stage where he can go his way, if VDB doesn't need him in that stage!
PCM rulezz: That's true, better luck next time. VDB did an excellent job, I think he's ready for TDF |

Well, a lot of energy was blown by staying with him on Joux-Plane, Rolland was the better climber and had more energy left |

ProRace Berlin
It wasn't my best sprint today and I ended 8th. However, that's not the most important news of today.
I'm extremely sad to tell you I fell during training and I'll be out for more than a month. So I can forget about Ster ZLM Tour, Hallo Ingooigem and even the National Championships. It's a real blow because I was building up my form steadily for the nationals.

Froome will not resign with Sky.
Valverde will not resign with Movistar.
Scarponi will not resign with Lampre.
Mollema, this year's Giro winner, will not resign with Rabobank.
Well, I'll see you much, much later. I'm resting right now and I start training lightly again in a couple of days.
