Despite the fact everyone predicted he would be the surprise...

It was ok. Too much dramatic music and not a lot of substance and sadly Phil Ligget was talking a lot. HTC guys came accross nicely though.

Well on a team with 2 other other proven top ten contenders, the surprise was I didn't expect him to be the leader of Garmin. I know he's a good, capable rider, but I thought he would end up working for VdV or Hesjedal

Post race - late night - tweeting!
@MarkCavendish Mark Cavendish
Nice ride by the #welshcake @GeraintThomas86 today. Class rider, class guy (well, as much as a Cardiff boy can be.)
@tvangarderen88 Tejay van Garderen
@petervelits had some bad luck today. I did what I could to help him. I'm still confident in him making a top 10 in paris.
@swiftybswift Ben Swift
well i can feel them climbs in the legs, off to sleep for me
@GeraintThomas86 Geraint Thomas
Thanks for all the support guys, unbelievable!! We'll keep trying!!
@millarmind David Millar
He may not have been first over, but in my eyes Geraint Thomas rode in the ghostly slipstream of Octave Lapize today, 101yrs of separation.
@thejensie Jens Voigt
ok just a quick midnight tweet before sleeping time. had a great day, happy that i could show there is still live in the old dog,,
ah, and just that my day gets not all perfect a bee decided to sting me, what was she thinking?! trying to stopp me??? happened after tourmalet

Just came back and of course missed the whole stage from the first mountain to the end. ;(
Although I expected just second gaps, I would have loved to see it. |

Thank. I have already seen that ESP is showing 2h of the race again. So I might watch it. But it`s not the same if you already know the result.
When I stopped watching today Galymzyanov just felt back and I wrote, that he will have problems with the time limit. Obviously I was correct about this. |

Looks bad for Contador. Basso, Evans, Schleck brothers and maybe Cunego main contenders for overall win |

No way Cunego is ahead of Contador at Paris, even when Contador riding with one leg

Yeah, he has been lurking in the shadows until yesterday. I predicted yesterday that he could be the "suprise" among the favorites, since he has been "hiding" so far. Didn't look too bad yesterday either.
Sorry in andvance for double post Bad internett at my workplace.

Contador to win the tour! in my eyes pure comedy, just look at last year the exact same thing happend
But last year he wasn't so far back in the GC, and he hadn't a knee injury.
if you have a knee injury like they say, you can't follow the attacks like he did. period. last year he was 1 min 40 sec behind after the first mountain stage. On verbier he took 40-50 sec on A. schleck
Hopefully you're onto something eventhough Verbiers was two years back. Still though if you knee has been swollen like Contador's for the past 5 days chances aren't great it will fully recover already by tomorrow. He really did not look his usual self yesterday. Not in any way. I'm still hoping he can recover though.
And like everybody is so excited about, what an interesting race for yellow this is looking to be and I am especially thrilled with Basso's performance. That's definitely the highest level of riding he has shown since his comeback. Frank Schleck looks incredibly well also but as his performances in the mountains have a tendency to vary quite a lot from day to day, I still hope Basso can put in some time on him and the other favourites tomorrow.
Vai vai Ivan!!

I thought Jeanneson was a sprinter, he was around 10th in the sprint stages...?
Judging by his results so far, he seems to be a climber who likes to sprint or something like that.
Route du Sud 2011:
1st stage (flat): 9th place
3rd stage (mountains): 5th place (in a group with Casar, Gadret and others)
Seems to have been doing mostly cyclo cross so far though (up until last year at least). |

French cycling seem to come up with less specialists and more all-rounders these days. I'm not sure whether this is good or bad (probably good for global results, bad for victories count).
If Jeanneson wants to win races, he'll have to specialise and focus on one specific area, be it sprints or mountains. But even then, does he have the potential to become a rider who wins much ? Time will tell... |
