About time, I would say. He's like the red wine, he matures over a tour. |

Legally, he's french, but his genetics are portuguese. He just happened to born in France. |

and legally we're all from different countries, but genetically we're all descendant from a mix of people from a small italian village and a tiny swedish island.
moot point. he's french, give it up

Piepoli failed to start today's stage. he was 10th overall at the start of the day. this means the top 10 is now:
1 Denis Menchov (Rus) Rabobank 44.27.25
2 Vladimir Efimkin (Rus) Caisse d'Epargne 2.01
3 Cadel Evans (Aus) Predictor - Lotto 2.27
4 Carlos Sastre (Spa) Team CSC 3.02
5 Ezequiel Mosquera Miguez (Spa) Karpin Galicia 4.35
6 Samuel Sánchez (Spa) Euskaltel - Euskadi 4.42
7 Vladimir Karpets (Rus) Caisse d'Epargne 5.49
8 Manuel Beltrán (Spa) Liquigas 5.56
9 Stijn Devolder (Bel) Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team 6.28
10 Carlos Barredo (Spa) Quickstep - Innergetic 6.39
also, this means the mountains jersey is back with SerafÃn Acevedo
EDIT: it's because Piepoli's wife is not in good health following child birth

Maybe. But Di Luca is in the World Championships, a good place for him will give him again the lead.

the World Championships are not a ProTour event.

the commentators are idiots
no, actually, just Paulo Martins. he's a HUGE idiot who never EVER admits he's wrong, no matter how many times it's pointed out to him.
anyway, it doesn't.
the ProTour calendar has 27 events, and the Worlds are not one of them. just like the Nationals aren't

off the top of my head, here are the ProTour events:
class 1:
Tour de France
class 2:

Vuelta a España
class 3:
Milano-San Remo
Ronde van Vlaanderen
Paris-Roubaix
Liége-Bastogne-Liége
Giro di Lombardia
Paris-Nice
Tirreno-Adriatico
Vuelta Ciclista al PaÃs Vasco
Tour de Romandie
Volta a Catalunya
Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré
Tour de Suisse
Deutschland Tour
Eneco Tour
Tour de Pologne
class 4:
Gent-Wevelgem
Amstel Gold Race
Flèche Wallone
Eindhoven TTT
Vattenfall Cyclassics
Clásica de Sán Sebastián
GP Ouest de France
Züri Metzgete
Paris-Tours
note that the Züri Metzgete folded. it won't be held ever again due to financial troubles...
