Stage 6 : Fidenza - Carrara
Today the Giro becomes serious! It´s the first stage with a hard stage finish and I´m not sure if Cavendish can hang on there but we still have Martin then
As we expected Cavendish could not follow anymore when it came to the last climb.Eisel wasn´t able to hang on,too
With only 5 kilometres to go,while the last climb was done for today,Pellizotti and Arroyo made a move
Pellizotti was still in front when the sprint began. It seemed that Arroyo couldn´t keep it up with him
Pellizotti can defend his advantage in front of Arroyo
Cunego wins the sprint in the big group in front of Nibali and Martin gets a great 6th position!Martin takes also the pink jersey from Cavendish who lost more than 4 minutes today
Stage results
1 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | 4h05'47 | 2 | David Arroyo | Caisse d'Epargne | s.t. | 3 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 4 | Vincenzo Nibali | Liquigas - Doimo | s.t. | 5 | Ivan Basso | Liquigas - Doimo | s.t. | 6 | Tony Martin | Team HTC - Columbia | s.t. | 7 | Marzio Bruseghin | Caisse d'Epargne | s.t. | 8 | José Serpa | Androni Giocattoli | s.t. | 9 | Alessandro Bertolini | Androni Giocattoli | s.t. | 10 | Egoi MartÃnez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 11 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | s.t. | 12 | David López | Caisse d'Epargne | s.t. | 13 | Gilberto Simoni | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 14 | Francesco Failli | Acqua & Sapone | s.t. | 15 | Domenico Pozzovivo | Colnago - CSF Inox | s.t. |

Stage 7 : Carrara - Montalcino
The 7th stage is preparing the pack for the first mountain arrival tomorrow! With a hard stage finish today we´re expecting a hard fight by Cunego,Basso and maybe Albasini can get a good result there? It´s a hard stage for our sprinters Cavendish and Eisel so we don´t think that they can stay in the first group
Lars Boom was one of today´s escapes and he got 10 KoM points but Muravyev took 8 points and is the new King of Mountains while he already had 6 points before this stage
With 13 kilometres to go when the hard stage end began, Lars Boom was the only one of the break who could stay in front and he still looked good
Behind in the pack,Cavendish was fighting to stay there but it seemed hopeless
Boom was really strong today, still leading this stage with one minute before the peloton where Martin,Pinotti,Siutsou,Albasini and even Bernhard Eisel were fighting
On the last KoM evaluation Paul Martens made a move while Albasini tried to follow him
Albasini could pass Martens and he had already reached Lars Boom who was really bushed now
After his breakaway and a long solo-ride Boom has no chance to sprint against Albasini
It´s another stage win for our team, this time by Michael Albasini! What a Giro up to here
Carrara becomes 2nd,15 seconds behind stage winner Albasini!Bertolini got the last position on the podium in front of Martens and Boom.Cunego,Basso and Co were not attacking so Martin is still in pink
Stage results

You are quite lucky the GC favourites are not taking much points, Cav has a good fighting chance.

Let´s talk about the main favorites for the overall win in California!
First of all there is Alberto Contador who surely wants to win there because I cannot imagine that he only wants to improve his shape for the Tour de France. But he´s not alone there ´cause his main rival Lance Armstrong is also there just like his team-mates Klöden and Leipheimer.SaxoBank sent only one of their Schleck brothers,Fränk Schleck while Rabobank also has a strong team-squad there with Gesink and Giro winner Denis Menchov.Just to name some more great riders:Wiggins,Barredo,Millar,Farrar,Evans,Sastre,Sutton and Swift are also there. So as you can see this Tour is really strong this year because of this I´m sure we will see a pretty nice time there!
Overall favorites
Alberto Contador
Carlos Sastre
Robert Gesink
Denis Menchov
Lance Armstrong
Michael Rogers
Andreas Klöden
Levi Leipheimer
Bradley Wiggins
Carlos Barredo
Cadel Evans
Fränk Schleck
Sprint favorites
Andre Greipel
Ben Swift
Christopher Sutton
Theo Bos
Tyler Farrar
Robert Hunter |

Tour of California has tougher competition than the Giro...
Good luck.
