Because the list is so big loads of riders will surely go under the radar as far as the media is concerned Rolling Eyes

I fully expect Nicholas Roche to be on the list.

Huh? Aren't we talking about the list of 5 or so riders that will be charged with doping? Not the one of 50 riders that will be targeted by testing?

Gustavovskiy
I think it's expectable it'll be a long and slow process (UCI's way) for those five riders who'll be charged

Valverde is still to be banned yet damn it....

The fun begins

Russian newspaper Nezavisimaya Gazeta states that Denis Mencov, Ivan Basso, Franco Pellizotti and (already caught) Antonio Colom are on the list of riders with suspected blood values

alexkr00
well I personaly doubt that Basso would risck anything right after his comeback.

It's a russian newspaper, they probably don't have anything right, but it's the first paper which comes with names

Guido Mukk
russian press..don't read it..and do not believe it.

Of course!

I didn't really expect a Russian paper to be the first to name riders.

Oh well, we'll see soon. Shouldn't the names have been published yesterday?

Where did he say this? Can I watch/listen that again?

Oh and by the way, if you have suspicious blood values it doesn't mean you're doped. If you're ill, your blood values will by suspicious as well. And knowing that cyclists are ill many times in a year, I guess there's a big chance not many riders will be suspended at all, which will be a shame for you all.

I cannot believe the way you are talking about you wanting to see many riders being caught on doping. Why is this? I guess that is harming cycling more than actual doping usage does.

CrueTrue
What people are saying is basically that they want to see the dopers caught.

Yeah but I guess people think that if you are on the suspicious list it means you used doping without doubt. Which is far from the truth.

And besides, the talking about "I want so see that and that rider caught and I think he will be caught" without any proof of doping is bullshit anyway.

I've been having to say this a lot lately:

Ruben wasn't talking about the list of 50 riders to be targeted for testing at the Tour. Being in that list is not an indicator of being suspicious.

Ruben is talking about the list of half a dozen riders whose constant blood value variations are impossible without doping and as such will be trialed for doping.

That smaller list was supposed to be announced as soon as they could contact all the riders on it to inform them, starting the past monday morning.

To make things clear I didn't react on Ruben in the latter part of my post, but on all the people who were cheering when the news came that there was a big list with suspicions.

fenian_1234
I'd be very surprised if Basso was one of the names.

Basso has most of this info online already. It is updated fairly regularly. Wink

check this btw:
https://www.mapeis...062009.pdf

it says 'cut-off score suspicious if 2.33 or >2.33. Just before the giro his hematocrite, hemaglobine etc all go up massively, the cut-off score gives... almost 3.00

Oh well.

Did he go altitude training before the giro (i dont think he did) as if not it looks suspicious. Very big change in hemoglobin Grin looks very interesting to say the least

If you read the first paragraph you'll see that it says the test was taken in altitude, after 12 days of altitude training.

Edit; I see his values were quite high right after a training session as well, where he could've been slightly dehydrated.

Overall I would say his data looks fairly good.

He was in Tenerife mid-April with Liquigas training. Bit of altitude there.

Then rode Trentino and LBL.
