Personnaly, I take a quiet january month and three big month in line: February, March and April.
I agree with you that this method is very good and I played it many times before.
However - I´m trying to write story from position of relatively inexperienced guy who was thrown into the river. And because he survived, everything will return to normal where he will go only to some races - Don´t expect all Pro Tour races in March. I will go to some races but propably not all these major ones. I have my own methods how to simulate random (more exactly propability). (dices strikes back!)
Major classics and Tours I would like to participate - Paris-Nice, all april classics, Romandie, Dauphine, TdF, San Sebastian, Pologne, Eneco and Vuelta - it is extremely unrealistic to make it to all so I will use random and see what races I will be chosen. I want this story to be somehow different and still on the move to be readable. |

20th of January
So we are here finally. Sunny and beautiful Australia. Because Tom isn´t fit to be main sprinter here I decided to take young Theo Bos as our main sprinter in place of him
So Rabobank line-up will be:
Leader : Sebastian Langeveld
Sprinter: Theo Bos
Lead-out: Graeme Brown
Lieutenant: Nick Nuyens
Team mates:
Dennis van Winden
René Joachim
Jonas Posthuma |

Best Rabobank rider last year - Freire - 4th overall
So Tour down Under is here. Langeveld is in really good form after his win in Amissa so we hoped at least in podium overall. But when I saw other participants I didn´t believe my own eyes - Boonen? Pozzato? Hagen? - Ufff. It will be hard.

Tour down Under - 1st stage - 20 of January
After I saw profil of the race I knew that I will have to wait until sprint finish and hope for Brown perfect lead out and Theo big acceleration in last few hundreds meters....
But for start I decided to do something nice for my Young gun René and send him to break - to carry mountain jersey in first Pro tour race in lafe isn´t is it?
But FdJ wants this jersey too and cherel is coming extremely fast
Joachim made it only just , he secured next day mountain jersey
After securing our points we decided to slow down and return to pack. Cherel continues and soon small breakaway is around him
But they couldn´t make it. Too many sprinters here boys
Pozzato and Boonen - 2 main favourites
Brown is in train just behind Davis. On the right is Boonen, on the left Cavendish
Sprint has begun. Boonen looks strong.
ANd Boonen wins, Pozzato second - Brown is third and Theo fourth... Not bad at all...

It is late evening and I have my head full of my first Pro tour stage. Should I do something better? Were guys prepared as well as they could? Wasn´t my idea of spoiling Joachim bad? I really don´t know what to do sometimes. Maybe it would be better to let it go and hope that something good will happen but I just can´t stop thinking that I made mistake somewhere. Maybe I was too excited after Amissa and now I am only little bit shocked of competition here. I have to make some plan how to overcome duo Boonen Pozzato... I have to sleep if I want to be in form tomorrow to help my boys.... |

Tour down Under 2010 - stage 2
So. Here we are. On the start of 2nd stage if TdU - yesterday it didn´t go so well as I hoped so I prepared small surprise to my opponents today. I Hope that my late studying of stage profile and possible tactics will pay off.
First break of the day - nothing unusual so far
another try - this time by Jens Voigt, but he is getting old and isn´t great flat machine anymore
After many other tries - Big break is formed from 13 riders - Katusha and Quick Step are chasing them
Hagen is going to join breakawy - no way! we can´t let it happened. Luckily for us he let it be after just few seconds - maybe only false signal?
And my surprise is here - on very small hill 12 km before finish Nuyens attacks! This is his chance to go to lead...
9 km to go. I feel excited. It looks like he can possibly make it.
6 and half kilometres until finish and it is just 40 seconds - If he will make it ot will be only just. But chance is still here.
less than 3 km it only 15 seconds. Bad luck. Bos and Brown are prepared in trains however
Breschel goes - what a powerful effort...
And he wins as true king Breschel the Mighty
I forgot to export results so here they are in screenshots.

mountain ranking
My tactics failed. Only thing what I can hope now is good 5th stage. Tomorrow I will try to take it easy. |

Tour down Under 2010 - stage 3
Very strong wind is today. I hoped for calm race but in this winf everything can happened and we must be really sharp.
First break of the day and French sprinter Drujon in it.
One of many occasions when was pack shredded to pieces by strong wing
I get the idea to exploit problems of the pack and let Dutch Champion Joost Posthuma attack
Posthuma wins mountain sprint but pack started to chase him down
Posthuma break is over. Doesn´t matter - we know that pack is ready to move if anything happens
After problems in the pack we are extremely horrifieed that Pozzato was able to slip out and is quite far in front...
9km to go and Pozzato has quite a distance between himself and the pack
Really desperate attempt from our side by Langeveld woke up the pack. Finally they started to move and Pippo is going to crack...
And in very disorganized sprint Hushovd took the spoils of victory
stage results:
1 Thor Hushovd Team Katusha 3h01'51
2 Takashi Miyazawa Cervélo Test Team s.t.
3 Edvald Boasson Hagen Team Columbia - High Road s.t.
4 Maciej Bodnar Liquigas s.t.
5 Gianluca Coletta Liquigas s.t.
6 Allan Davis Liquigas s.t.
7 Sebastian Langeveld Rabobank s.t.
8 Jacopo Guarnieri Liquigas s.t.
9 Romain Feillu Cervélo Test Team s.t.
10 Aurélien Clerc AG2R La Mondiale s.t.
14 Theo Bos Rabobank s.t.
25 Dennis Van Winden Rabobank s.t.
39 Joost Posthuma Rabobank s.t.
121 Nick Nuyens Rabobank s.t.
131 Graeme Brown Rabobank + 1'45
137 René Joachim Rabobank + 2'40
Overall rankings
1 Filippo Pozzato Team Katusha 9h30'11
2 Thor Hushovd Team Katusha + 2
3 Tom Boonen Quick·Step s.t.
4 Matti Breschel Lampre - N.G.C s.t.
5 Takashi Miyazawa Cervélo Test Team + 4
6 Maximiliano Richeze Silence - Lotto + 5
7 Jan Ghyselinck Silence - Lotto s.t.
8 William Frischkorn Garmin - Slipstream s.t.
9 Pablo Urtasun Euskaltel - Euskadi s.t.
10 Edvald Boasson Hagen Team Columbia - High Road + 6
19 Theo Bos Rabobank + 8
30 Sebastian Langeveld Rabobank s.t.
64 Joost Posthuma Rabobank s.t.
66 Dennis Van Winden Rabobank s.t.
79 Nick Nuyens Rabobank s.t.
117 Graeme Brown Rabobank + 1'51
138 René Joachim Rabobank + 5'25
points ranking
1 Filippo Pozzato Team Katusha 10 54
2 Allan Davis Liquigas 16 48
3 Tom Boonen Quick·Step 6 44
4 Greg Van Avermaet Silence - Lotto 3 38
5 Matti Breschel Lampre - N.G.C 0 37
7 Graeme Brown Rabobank 0 34
8 Theo Bos Rabobank 7 32
20 Sebastian Langeveld Rabobank 14 14
43 Nick Nuyens Rabobank 0 2
mountain ranking
1 Tim Gudsell Française des Jeux 0 4
2 René Joachim Rabobank 0 4
3 Joost Posthuma Rabobank 4 4
4 Mikaël Chérel Française des Jeux 0 2
5 William Frischkorn Garmin - Slipstream 0 2
This race was absolutely opposite than we hoped before start. I just don´t get that Pozzato break - ok nice move that no-one caught it but fact that pack woke up only after Langeveld desperate attack is total nonsense. Luckily for us Pozzato cracked and wasn´t able to make it until finish - otherwise we would have winner of Tour down Under known just now...
Because I got request for save - it is in enclosure - I want to wish good luck with it and maybe someone will make better results - not maybe - I am sure of it...

Tour down Under 2010 - stage 4
Today is even more windy than yesterday. I shaked hands with everyone before start and gives role as usual. LAngeveld leader, Bos sprinter, Nuyens (and possibly Posthuma) attacker. I feel in my bones that something will surely happen today. Hopefully for us it will be nothing terrible
First bigger break and Nuyens is part of it of course. I told him to take both sprint to earn some bonus seconds
He won first one and even parted from his fellow escapees
But he was swallowed by pack soon after winnig second sprint of the day.
It was peaceful race until finish. But not anymore. 10 km until finish and wind completely destroyed front of the pack. Our guys are now in front and nobody from favourites is nearby!
And we made 1-3 from this race. Pure luck for our side. Maybe we shall start praying for wind in every race. Specially Theo and Sebastian likes this...
I forget exports results again

It wsa great result for my team and I don´t care a little bit that it was unly lucky victory. Moreover during tomorrow decisive stage Nuyens will be in yellow jersey! |

Results from 4th stage are really crazy and I can´t tell how much I was surprised when I prepared all these riders just behind Boonen and he started to slow down. I let myself in front and you see what happened. ANy other sprinter wasn´t nearby in front of the pack at that time...It doesn´t make sense at all..

Tour down Under 2010 - stage 5
Decisive stage of Tour down Under. Only big hill in this Tour- Willalunga is going to seperate punchers from sprinters. I hope that Nuyens will hold his lead after the stage or will be replaced By Sebastian.
Pagliarini fell really hard and ijured himself
Bravo joins break of the day before Willalunga
He can be dangerous so Lampre and Katusha take over work in front of the pack
And here starts suffering... Whole break is going to break apart...
Serrano from Fuji conquered Willalunga
Iglinskyi joins Serrano and they work together in front
But not a chance. Now it is Pozzato with rabo duo in front
Second group is lead by very good talent Roche
Ballans attack is incredibly fast - just 4 km to go. This guy is able to make it! Langeveld can´t catch him.
Ballan is surely winner now. Only fall can stop him...
doesn´t happen and he can celebrate his win.
Pozzato is second and takes back overall lead

I have to admit that Nick suprised in a good way here. However - Overall win seems impossible now if Katusha will not make any big mistake... I will have meeting during evening with Joost Posthuma. Already got a mail from Erik - No Paris - Nice this year for me... I hope that he is not dissapointed by our resluts here. He shouldn´t be - podium is at hand

In reality my results are not so good as they should be. I should have my riders in better form than anyone else in this part of year (langeveld 81) so they should be able to do much better.
However - I am only average player of PCM so I am more than happy with these results |

Joost Posthuma
24th of January - late evening
So meeting with Joost is over - he was very satisfied with his designated role as team helper during most races. It was surprising for me because I expected that he - as reigning Dutch RR champion - would want to be leader somewhere. Well maybe he will but but it is still to early say on which minor race. also I am counting on him and his experience during Tour de France...
Last year achievements:
1st Dutch RR championship
2nd Dutch TT championship
This year expectations: TOP 3 dutch TT championship, one TT stage win somewhere... |

Tour down Under 2010 - stage 6
So last stage of TdU in Adelaide is here. Nothing big is expected however podium laces can still changes thair owners so have to be extra careful today.
Sebastian nearby Pozzato, Boonen and Cavendish. They will surely talk with each other today more often...
Last escape of the day - Ongarato didn´t have a chance
Bos is in Lotto train - it is perfet position.
But Lotto train disbanded as soon as sprint started and Sebastian sneaks out in front.
Meanwhile Posthuma falls - It doesn´t look good
Langeveld in full attack. Goooooo. We can make 2 podium places if he will be 1st or 2nd!
Unbelievable acceleration from Cavendish! Breschel on the right.
And Breschel wins, Cav 2nd and Sebastian 3rd. Only 2 bonus seconds. Will it be enough?
IT IS! Hoooooray! 2nd and 3rd overall place in first Pro Tour race of the season. Ufff. We had more luck than anything else here....
