Is the starlist on cyclingnews right? Mandri was supposed to ride but hes not on the list.
And why is Klostergaard starting for Saxo, surely hes not that good.

Pliuschin replaced him at the last minute for reasons which were not made public.

He's a pretty good domestique. Don't say someone isn't good just because he never gets to ride for himself.

Looool marble, Nibali didn't even sprint there. That is no argument that Schleck 'outsprinted him'
Even I can beat Nibali in a sprint if I stay in his wheel all the time and he is dead.
True, but technically he lost the "sprint". I was just stating the fact that Schleck doesn't always lose when it comes down to a group sprint. (but the whole arguement, was some kinda joke anyway and I was just mentioning it as a joke response). |

He's the substitute for Cancellara. He wasn't in the original line-up. |

It is not turning into any of the other classics as you actually have a sprint train chasing down the attackers on the last hill which makes it exciting thats why people watch it as a completely flat classic is pointless in my eyes. I gona say that haussler if its a small group sprint if not pozzato maybe sanchez can get away on the descent and if a bunch sprint got to be ciolek but im gona say haussler! |

is cavendish riding? i keep hearing contradicting reports. if he is riding and can get over the hills with the bunch then he will win in the sprint. no-one can get close to him this year. |

He is riding, but he won't get over the hills. No way. If he can't even survive the Tirreno hills in stage 1 and stage 2, then forget it. |

it's just a shame that they have changed the course just as Cavendish has become the worlds best sprinter. a few years ago he would have been the favourite. |

No.
The Poggio and the Cipressa have always been there, and always they delivered problems for sprinters as type Cavendish.
Even without Le Manie Cavandish has no chance of surviving.
So what the fuck are you mumbling about? |

He didn't stand much of a chance anyway. I wonder who's going to replace him

Didn't he just get beat???
That being said he is the best in the world right now, but the hills are still a major concern. On most days he is unstoppable, but hopefully that does not go to his head and keep him, from working hard or he will lose more often.

why are you being such a twat. sorry if i don't have as much cycling knowledge as you, i'm new to the sport and prefer to do rather then watch. all i was going on was the fact that riders like petacchi and cipollini have won in recent years. i might be wrong but weren't they pure sprinters like cavendish is.
the only major climb is the passo del turchino which is too far from the finish to have any real effect. he might have struggled in the first couple of stages on the tirreno-adriatico. but they were stages he wasn't likely to win so why push himself when he could save himself for the real sprinter stages? at MSR he has a real chance if it goes down to a sprint so will have a reason to get over the hills. he's obviously feeling good at the moment with all the wins he's been taking.
you need to get off your high horse and stop being so arrogant mate. anyone can act hard and shout their mouth off when they're hiding behind a fake name on a message board. grow up. |

thats true. i suppose everyone has bad days but his win rate this year in sprints that he has contested must be up around 80/90%. every race he's done this year (that i've seen ToQ, ToC, T-A) he's dominated the sprints. i think that this is one of his major goals this year and he won't just turn up without wotking on the hills. i think he's in good shape and if his team can control the peleton and stop too many breaks going away he could still be there at the end, and with an 80/90% win rate (estimated ) he will have a good chance in the final sprint. |

Ringo, Ruben is not hiding between a fake name. His name is actually Ruben Lampe. Common knowledge.
Secondly, Ruben is right.

Ringo Poggio and cipressa is about 4km long or so as far as I remember, and they have an average of over 4% which is way more than Cavendish can do, just look at stage at Tour de France last year, he was not even close to be in the pack.
