Tour du Haut Var
A long hilly day in the saddle for my riders. We know we don't stand a chance of getting any kind of result but we will attempt to get someone into the break. Again i decide to only send 6 riders with no real leader.
Squad: Cronshaw, Greenwood, Holoham, House, Lapthorne, Rudling
We were desperate to get someone into the break today and so we sent Lapthorne into the first break of the day.
However the peleton thought that they were too dangerous and brought them back. I moved House to the front and when the next break went he was there.
The group failed to really work together and there were attacks all day. But House stayed calm and just rid his own race looking strong all day. On the short sharpe climb about 30k from the end the break was still over 1 min ahead. However the big names decided now was the time to go and the lead group swelled to 21 riders.
The pace went up and House started to struggle. With about 15k to go he and a couple of the others dropped off the back.
With 5k to go no-one in the lead group had made a move. It looks like this one is going down to the sprint.
As the sprint opens up Hushovd has a good lead.
However the hills had obviously taken their toll and he went backwards. Pineau moves to the front and takes the win for Quickstep.
Meanwhile the majority of my team finish at the back of the next group after the lead group. I'm delighted with there performance, especially House who impressed me today with his day out in the break.
This is my last race in February so i think we can have a look at how we are doing in comparison to my rivals.
At the moment were at the bottom of our little mini league, but it's still early in the season. So far i'm very happy with our performance so far.

Yeah, I agree with CT, the mini league is going to be as interesting as the top of the CT if you had been a bigger team.

well i've got no chance at the moment in the overall league so this gives me something to aim at. Think the Sean Kelly team will run away with it though with the riders they've got.
p.s Crue, did you get the new savegame?

is it fixable or should i just download the full upgrade and start again? |

The problem is that I'm forced to use Hannes Converter. Full Editor doesn't want to export your save game.
Anyway, feel free to continue your save game with the old save game. Just remember to re-upload it at some point tonight, then I'll have another try. |

Campina Ronde van het Groene Hart
A long flat day in the saddle. With the East Midland Classic looming at the end of April it's time to start getting some of my riders into shape. The squad for today is more or less the squad i hope to take to the EMC. There are a few big teams here today with Rabobank, Quickstep and Silence-Lotto all sending teams. We will be trying to get someone in the break and then try to contest the sprint. But with my fitest rider still only on about 70% fitness i'm not to confident of getting a result. In regards to my mini league both Plowman Craven and Team Halfords are present though Plowman have only sent 3 riders.
Squad: Downing, Craven, Cronshaw, Greenwood, Holoham, Lapthorne, Lloyd, Richardson
I was keen to get a rider into the break and early on 10 riders went away. I sent Greenwood into the group and he was looking good. However the peleton didn't want to leave the 10 men out there so they were brought back in. However 1 rider had stayed away and the peleton left him riding alone with a gap of about a minute. I decided to send Holoham after him and he was joined by 3 others. 1 by 1 the lead group grew as more riders made it accross until it consisted of 8 riders.
They worked well together and the gap grew to 8 mins. However once the peleton woke up the gap quickly dropped and they were all brought back with about 25k to go.
About 10k from the finish there was the smallest, most insignificant hill ever, but 3 riders decided to try to use it to get away from the peleton. Craven was feeling good and so i sent him with them.
The for riders joined up and for a while the gap stayed at a steady 30 seconds going into the last 10k. However as the trains started to pull the gap quickly fell and they were swallowed up. Downing and lapthorne struggled with the quick pace and never got close to contesting the sprint.
The sprint was won by Belgian champ Jurgen Roelandts. But more disapointing for us was the fact that Rob Hayles finished 6th and got some points for Team Halfords.
Not the best of results with Hayles scoring big, but it's still early in the season and none of my riders are anywhere near to full fitness. Also i'm riding alot of C/T1 races. Once i start riding some lesser races i hope to start racking up the points. |

Gran Premio Llodio
Once again i will be testing my squad for the EMC. It a bit hilly today, and with none of my team at full fitness i'm not really expecting too much. Lapthorne will lead today as it is a bit too hilly for Downing.
Squad: Lapthorne, Craven, Cronshaw, Downing, Greenwood, Holoham, Lloyd, Richardson
As usual i am looking to get someone into the break today. Initially i send Craven, but his group is chased down. When the next group goes i send Cronshaw. This time it sticks and they work well together to build up a nice lead.
With about 30k to go, and the peleton closing rapidly, Cronshaw decides to go it alone.
He puts in a brave performance and stays out alone until about 15k to go.
At this point the guys who want to win begin to attack.
After the first climb at the end of the stage both Lapthorne and Greenwood have enerfy to attack and manage to get into a group up the road, ahead of the peleton.
However, there are still 3 more riders up the road so their group attacks again to close the gap.
Greenwood and Lapthorne don't have the power to go with the strongest riders and have to ride to the finish together. They still have over a mins lead over the peleton and so should make it to the finish ahead of them.
At the front a small group has formed. No-one seems to want to make a break for the line so they all prepare to sprint it out.
The sprint is won by Mosquera of the Xacobeo-Galicia Team.
Meanwhile Greenwood leads out Lapthorne in the sprint and the two of them finish over 30 seconds ahead of the peleton to finish 13th and 14th. A great performance from them and from my team in general.
So a great performance from the team. Unfortunately we've not picked up any points but i'm still very happy with the team.

Settimana Lombardia
A tough looking 6 day stage race. Again i will send the same team as we look to build up race fitness for our first goal of the season. The tour starts with a TTT before two flat stages and then 3 hilly ones. Lapthorne will lead while Downing will try to contest the sprints. I might try to get someone up the road to try to claim the KOM jersey.
Squad: Lapthorne, Craven, Cronshaw, Downing, Greenwood, Holoham, Lloyd, Richardson
Stage 1
A flat 30k TTT to get the tour up and running. I'm rubbish at TTT's so i sim it as usual, however my team put in an incredible performance.
So we finish 5th with a loss of just 30 seconds. Lapthorne could have a chance of getting a top 10 finish here. Suddenly our goals and expectations of the week have gone up. |
