The climbers at the top of the CT are really evenly matched (plus the invaders from PCT), while Warbasse is marginally better than most it is pretty small. So from that perspective 5th in this race really isn't bad and we can thank our investment in a TTT squad.
So that is the positive spin - the negative is that the fine TTT set Warbasse with an advantage over everyone else except the Jura boy and he managed to give around a 1'20 over the remainder of the race to all of Kozhatayev, Schlegel and Antunes which cost us a podium. Which is disappointing to say the least.
Revard holds white and 16th overall which is a nice consolation.
Jelajah next for Warbasse, which is a different kind of race, so maybe he will find his punchy boots while he is looking for his climbing ones.
Thanks to Nemo for the reports. Congrats to Jakstar on a nice win today and Fab on what I think in the end was a pretty good race for Jura.

Jonathan Croes!! The Aruban had a great race, and a sure sign of things to come from the climber as he continues to develop. Le Court had a great race as well. Lots of sponsor time gathered up for the team, and a continuing indication the squad is heading the in the right direction.
Phew... Happy is probably the wrong word, but currently mostly relieved that Masnada at least brought the jersey home. In two stage races this year, that guy took 2nd and 1st in the GC - he's carrying us in an amazing way so far!
But yeah, after the TTT worked out as I was hoping it would, I definitely had many things in mind, but not this scenario. Stüssi not even getting a Top10 in the mountain stages is very, very worrying for the rest of the season, where he'll mostly ride without Masnada. This time Masnada saved us, but that won't always be possible. If Stüssi continues to ride like that, I guess I'll have a candidate for worst training, too...
In the end Stüssi takes 10th - which is a joke - but given that we still won the GC we'll swallow that. Had it been the other way round (Stüssi 1st, Masnada 10th), I'd be happy and call it a realistic result.
Mäder missing out on White isn't great, either, but after that really bad stage 4 he at least got a somewhat acceptable result on the final stage (obviously not a good one, given some of those who beat him), and he moved up to 2nd. 3rd in the team standings isn't great, either, but it's some additional points that are nice to have.
All in all, I guess we scored some good points from this race, but I still feel like more would have been possible. We got the GC win, in a pretty lucky way, but we got it. Let's learn from the mistakes we did here and do better next time!
Congrats to Jakstar on the stage win, to Lief on the green jersey, TMM on a huge KoM win, and UU on the U25 standings. And commiserations to the latter for another underperformance by Warbasse, that guy really seems to be a bit broken ^^ (not as much as Stüssi, though )
Thanks to Nemo for the reports, after HK and Catalunya it looks like your PCM really likes Masnada ^^
First: Thanks for the reporting over all the stages! It was a pleasure to follow and read.
Second: Congratulations to the winners and the one who are satisfied with their results.
And now to us. Besides the very dissapointing first stage the rest was like we could expect. Our team just isnt suited to compete with the "big players". After all it's our first season and for the team and especially for me it's about learning and experience. So i guess we collected a lot Exp here
What a disastrous last stage for us. After not so bad previous stages, I even hope we could try to climb a bit in the GC, but no, we crashed the last day.
We save a top 15 and a stage top 10, but that's all there is. t'was supposed to be the most important race of the season for Itturia, sponsor-wise.
Congrats to the winners, thanks for the nice reports Nemolito, and to March onwards!
Mission accomplished. Our young boys showed themselves into the breakaways , even going 5 of them into it on one stage. Mendoza got a couple of top 30s during the race, so I am quite hopeful for our future.
It was a very interesting race, very entertaining, although a bit odd in places. Congratulations to all who got good results and to Fabianski for the GC win! And thank you very much for the awesome reports!
