Hopefully we can distance Teklit and take 4th. I like that the game throws up surprises with underdogs like this, but the frustrating part about it from an AI vs AI standpoint is that no one seems to care much about distancing an underdog like Teklit and making things difficult for him.
Kinoshita and Sagan are the top hill riders, compared to MO/HIL riders, so I think we can conclude this race is definitely a lot more for MO/HIL riders than just punchuers, like others have already been saying. Definitely need to think about coming here again next year, in PCT.

I guess I gotta be happy with Beltran finally riding smartly for once. Given his sprint ability or lack thereof I'm not surprised he finished last in that group, but you'd think he'd get lucky at least once a year.
Riders that were suppose to get dropped finally did. Just goes to show it's not always the difficult climb that forces a split, but the placement of it.
Still need a big performance on the final day to make this race a success. Hopefully no funny business tomorrow.

Good to see Kwiatkowski survive that one. Must say he looked convincing when he first decided to join the action. Well done. Seems like he needs to rely on himself on the final stage as well, as I'll be surprised if there's any team support in the decisive kilometers.
Also a surprising move to see Larsen up the road. Though, it hopefully saved us some energy we probably need on the final stage.
Congratulations on the stage win, Roman! The GC is still really close with several riders within a minute. This is wide open going into the final stage, assuming the flat stage ends in a sprint. We're in a great position, but that will soon be forgotten if we can't keep it on the final day. We need a great day and good decisions there, Kwiatkowski! |

Not a good day by Lopez, didnt like the attack there at all. Either attack over the bumps or go for the sprint imo. Time loss and barely any points for the points classification both hurt a lot.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Yes, go on Ivanov, that's the spirit!

Why are we chasing instead of attacking? Decent result by Mohoric though, but we're still out if the Top10 which is pretty shambolic. |

And again a bad performance.
I would be more annoyed if it was a pure puncheur race. As it's hybrid prone, it's less bad but still riders like Teklit, Mohoric, Kinoshita and others outperform him day for day.
A shit GC already but also missing out any stage points, which is a big shame.
Thanks for the report. |

A pleasant surprise to finally have a good stage result. And then to Boily of all people, who have been nowhere in terms of stagesucces all season.
The final stage is still so difficult that I won't expect him to stay in the top 10, but he should be able to (on paper). He's a better climber than Sagan, Teklit, Kinoshita and Bakelants, but right behind him are much better riders like Arndt, Formolo, Yates and Padun, alongside some better puncheurs.
A top 10 would be nice and then hopefully Koretzky can keep his top 20 aswell.
We lost the team GC lead, and Zoidl unfortunately dropped far back. He seemed to be having a good race otherwise.
Now I hope Bouglas can atleast fight for minor points.

Going to be tough for Teklit to come away with a good GC now but I’ll hope for the best!

Shame that Yates got caught behind here, hopefully he can make up some ground on stage 8 and Guerreiro can continue to climb the GC.
Now over to Van der Sande to try and rescue what has been a desperately poor showing in terms of point scoring for us so far. |

A stage win from Poljanec!!!
Wow, I didn't expect that
I was just hoping for a calm day and for Beltran to stay out of trouble, so I was pretty shocked when I saw Poljanec in the break. Then it looked like the break wasn't going to be allowed to stay away, but they eventually did and the gap grew large. Poljanec was in pretty much the same situation at one of the TDF stages, where he made the mistake of chasing the attackers too much, so he couldn't sprint at the end. Great to see he's learned from his mistake
This was always his potential as he has the strong flat stat, solid climbing ability and a decent sprint. Great to see him finally realising that potential and he'll be just a little better next year maxed
It's hard to believe, but this is only our 3rd win of the season And it comes at a pretty good time. This offsets the lack of stage results from Beltran in this race, but I still need a big performance from him on the final day to reach that top 5 goal.
Finally something to smile about. Thanks for the report Ulrich

Good stage for us, not forced to chase from the bunch. Congratulations, redordead! A stage win on the flat must surely be a big positive here
And now for the big showdown. We need to bring the win home, Kwiatkowski! That's a lot of pressure, but it's the only result that will make us hope of survival moving forward to the final races this season. |

Love to see Swisslion finally winning something and it being in the home race obviously is the cherry on top. Congrats red!
Not the most meaningful stage for Evonik, would have liked to see Liepins in the mix for a stage podium but cant be disappointed to see that break stay ahead. Now the focus is entirely on the final day that should suit Lopez the best out of all stages and where he might be the top favourite on the day. Would love to see a stage win..

Bah, when Bouglas finally does a stellar sprint, there's a bunch of breakaway guys up ahead. Oh well. 1 point.

Good to see Stuyven in the break. Looked good for a moment but went too early. Still 4th might be the best points I get from this race.
One more stage, then on to the next better one. |

The one time we don't get in the breakaway, the breakaway wins. Seems about right with how our season has been going...

Look forward to reaching the end of the season and Van der Sande having scored more points in the TDU than he did in all his other races combined... |
