The stats are pretty much finalized and it seems that the Fuglsang and Alaphilippe debate goes on and it might be a good idea to bring Valverde as well into this as for so long he was the top hill rider.
Alaphilippe 77/82 or 76/82-83
Fuglsang 79/80 or 78/81-82
Valverde 77/81 or 78/80 etc
The situation seems to be that all agree that Fuglsang is 2 points better in mtn and Alaphilippe just 1 point better in hill as the logical argument here seems to be that Fuglsang needs to drop Alaphilippe to win races like LBL because if they arrive together then Alaphilippe will win, so I do agree with this logic here and this is how these two riders compare BUT if you start to compare them with the rest of the peloton and other riders around them then some of the second choice stats above don't work so well as the first set. For example look at Formolo second at LBL is 77/78 and is Fuglsang really three or four points better than him in hill as well as being better in mtn etc? In fact Formolo probably worth 79 hill so mentioning him has reminded me to improve him and a pity he chose Dauphine instead of Lombardia to race.
As for Valverde does he have anything left to offer at the highest level? I think so because he managed to finish second at Lombardia last season and is probably not quite finished.

You've now made Formolo like Ulissi. Formolo is more of a LBL rider and a potential winner of that race whereas Ulissi is more of Fleche/short punchy climbs type of rider. So the former needs good mtn and the latter good hill. A 74/80 differential works well for Ulissi but not for Formolo.

Remember he is 40 years old and last season he could not in the Ardennes classics. |

But he could get second at both Lombardia and Milan-Torino at the end of last season, so too early to write him off imo and let's not forget second at the Vuelta as well.

I agree with the stats as they already are, Fuglsang at 79/80 and Ala at 77/82, just to say that all do not agree about changing |

Thanks for posting and I agree that these are the best stats for them and keep the balance of the DB. I've noticed that before this Tour that we have had more debate about certain stats more than ever. I think it's the coronavirus effect and everybody is so desperate for GT's and more mounuments etc from a season that we very nearly didn't get

In terms of statting Van Aert, how does 78 in hill, 74 in mountain, 78 in endurance and 75 in res look? Would he be too overpowered? He’s so good(!!), but I can imagine he would be almost impossible to beat in many races like both the cobbles and Amstel, Strade Bianche and that type of races. |

Maybe I missed something, but why would van Aert be 74 Mountain. He'd feel like a 77 Mountain in the game. If you want to make him feel like a 74 Mo he needs something like a 70-71 Mountain stat in the game, which I feel like should be the absolute maximum as he has never shown more in the alpine mountains iirc.
And he needs way more Res than 75 imo, as Res may be his biggest strength.

He's doing rather well in the Dauphiné, but I agree 74 is too much. Remember you also need to give him stats to win a TDF mass sprint, timetrials, the easier hill classics and cobbles. Adding 74MO to that is an overkill.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

In my opinion Van Aert is 70 in Mountain (you can give him many RES) |

We appreciate your input too! It's important to discuss about these topics to understand the mechanics and our decisions based on that as well, and these discussions fuel our thoughts in the db team as well. :)

Van Aert will be:
70 Mtn 76 Hill 79 cob 78 flat 77 S/A 77/78 TT/Pr 77 Sta 80 Res 69 rec 82 DH 80 Fr
His Res is second highest in the game just one below Remco and DH super high as well but it's his Res that is his main weapon combined with the other main stats. For his rec to improve needs to get through the second week of a GT without crashing.

Thank you very much for your work because it is incredible. You always make the best and most realistic database in the game.
Could you give an approximate date of the release of the new database?
Sorry for my level of English, I'm Spanish and I'm writing with Google Translate. xDD |

Valencianista- We can't give an exact date but will be soon and we will keep all informed but I imagine before the start of the Tour de France
Aizak- It's there before S/A and is 77/77 (I should have made it clearer)

We are indeed planning on bringing out an update before the tour, however we can't say how big it will be. Surely it will contain some stats though, as Tafiolmo especially worked on mountain stats lately. Also we'll fix the spelling problems of many riders due to the PCM update.
Thanks! Looking forward to it. |
