Rohregger is joined by Sella and Spilak.
Spilak is alone going down thowards the finish. Just 7 kilometers of downhill left.

Stage 3
Yet another mountain stage.
Forgot to take screenshots.
It was a pretty quite race a long way. A break of 15 were about two minutes out in front. Frankhauser was in it, cathcing some sprint points. However they got disorganised and broke apart. Spilak attacked early, even before the start of the final climb. Both our top climbers were caught completely of guard and got stuck behind. When they finally attacked the leaders were well out in front.
Rohregger managed to finish forth, climbing to a tenth place in the GC and Eibegger is now ninth. Rohregger jsut holds on to the polka dot in front of Soler.

Stage 4
An uphill finish again.
Todays tactic: Keep close to Spilak and counter him with Rohregger, Eibegger and Trampusch. Providing that all three mananges to keep up with him (or fall close behind) they'll work as a team in order to get a stagewin. A break of nine are out with a good lead before the first climb ensure that Soler will not get any mountain points there. So if Rohregger is ahead of him to the line he'll most likely retain the polka dot jersey.
Barloworld and CSF - Navigare are controlling things at the moment 20 kilometers to the line and the favourites starts to move up front.
Deviation from the tactic as Sella and Pfannberger goes. We opt to go with them. Spilaks teammates have been pulling hard for a while, with both Pfannberger and Sella out in front Liquigas will probably have to do all the work themselves.
Rohregger and Trampusch manages to follow Pfannberger and Sellas group. Spilak is closing fast from behind, while Eibegger is looking tired today.
Rohregger who has been sitting behind Trampusch for a while attacks with two kilometers to go. Sella follows.
Sella is first up, but Rohregger is gaining on him.
But the italian keeps the austrian duo behind him to claim the victory.
Rohregger finishes second, Trampusch is 7th and Eibegger just outside the top ten.
With three mostly flat stages to go, Rohregger is 6th in the GC and Eibegger is 10th. Very nice results.
Soler had to work hard for Pfannberger today and scored no mountain points. Thus Rohregger is well out in front. He'll most likely be able to wear the polka dot til the end! |

Really enjoyed that last stage. It's hard not to do another now, but I have to empty the dishwasher
Two flat stages tomorrow (will look for a stage win) and the finale on thursday. |

Stage 5
A fairly flat profile, the bumps near the end will help Frankhauser as some pure sprinters may struggle.
The break has been caught, and with only 7 kilometers to go the trains are forming.
Spilak, who has been dominating this race, has found his way to the front. Some of the major sprinters are following our train - lead by Valach.
1500 meters and Frankhauser has to go in order to catch Spilak.
Fischer, Liquigas, is on the prowl, the leading trio will settle this among themselves.
Frankhauser manages to battle Fischer off and brings home the bacon.
Victory is ours!!!
No changes in the GC, except that Spilak adds some seconds to his lead.
Rohregger is still 14 points ahead of doper Sella and Trafelet. With a maximum of 15 mountain points to claim, things are looking good. |

Screenshots didn't work for stage 5
It was a sprint finish, Sabatini (Milram) won it in front of Bole (Adria). Summer was forth and Frankhauser fifth. Hard to just miss the podium with two guys. The pace at the end was so high that Valach wasn't able to pull our sprinters to the lead. Thus, they were behind when the sprint started. That tactical misstake, may hace costed us another podium finish...
No changes in the GC or the mountain points. Frankhauser moved to fifth in the point competition. |

Stage 7
The final stage is a bit of a mix, but with a long flat at the end it will probably result in mass sprint.
The break of the day features four riderds. Trampusch who has been a great helper in the mountains instigated the break.
With 40 km to the line, the four were still 5 mins before the pack. Trampusch and Devenyns (Silence-Lotto) were letting the others do most of the work, only taking short relays.
18 kilometers and 2.40 on the clock. Trampusch is looking really fresh and hasn't spent much energy.
Devenyns attacks and only Trampusch is able to follow. The peloton has pusched the tempo up very high and is closing quite fast.
Since the attack Trampusch has been sitting on the wheel of Devenyns recouperating. With 1400 km to the finishline he goes on the attack.
Tactical succes. Devenyns isn't able to follow and the pack is to far behind to catch him. Another stage win for the austrians!
Frankhauser just misses the podium as Devenyns holds out for second and Gasparotto proves too strong.
Sponsor goal was finish top ten. Eibegger just made that and in addition Rohregger finished 6th. Brilliant.
Sponsor goal was: wear climbers jersey. Rohregger not only wore it for four days, he won the overall.
Franhauser finished second in points, beaten only by outstanding Spilak. |

Authors notes
I will end this story on a high note. Apparently story telling wasn't my cup of tea. It's been a great season so far. Unfortunately we weren't able to complete all sponsorgoals (wild card for Tour de Romandie and win Tour of Slovenia) but the success in Austria has had a great impact on the sponsors (excellent confidence).
ELK Haus-Simplon has been really fun to play with. It's a fairly mixed team, with some talent. It's in no way a strong enough team to dominate the continental tour (after the Österrich rundfarht I'm on 11th place in the continental rankings). Budget is a bit tight, and I made some economical misstakes in the beginning of the season (signing a mythical scout for instance), that probably will lead to bankrupcy.
Once the fusionDB is out (and the game has been patched to a descent level - I can still be improved) I will start a new career (not a new story, however). Chances are that the team will be from Austria. |

Thank you for your story.
Interesting team - even tough I choosed to take the challenge of Auber 93 in my latest PCM2008 carrer, Elk Haus is now higher on my list of teams I might chose for my carrer when the Fusion DB arrives..
Best regards.

Thanks for the support.
Right now, I don't think there will be another story from me. I was keen on the idea of doing a story, and I'm gald that I tested it. The storytelling part took too much focus from the gameplay. Although, there were times that it was fun. Maybe some other format of storytelling would suit me better. I don't know.
Anyways, now I'm waiting for the fusionDB and in the meantime I'll do stage races trying to improve my game level. |
