The distance is not exactly the same but I used the same roads as the cyclists so the profile has to be good and after the last months, I know that info from the Chinese people are not always correct. |

no, they decided to use the metric system for the length and a completely random other system for height.
silly questions
Length could be miles and height then feet.

Remember how I mentioned that Sérgio Paulinho was to lead the Discovery team at the Ardennes classics back in 2006 but had to pull out due to allergy?
Well, after that, plus him never being able to be in top form for the April Classics, or the Tour de France due to the same allergies, and thus having to concentrate his career on the months of the season from September to October, now comes another problem:
To ride in the olympics, he needs his allergy medication. For that, he needs a special permission. He has it from the UCI.
But in the olympics, the one from the UCI is useless, he needs a special one from the Portuguese OC, which screwed up the process. So he won't be participating.
His two other alternatives would be to either take the medicine and compete, and thus test positive, or don't take the medicine and still compete , as he did in the Clásica Sán Sebastián [he retired after 100kms with a severe respiratory crysis]
He is the current silver medal holder in the Olympic road race.
The man has no luck, really.

My girlfriend saw on the news that his doctor didn't recommend he go to Beijing because of those respiratory problems, because of pollution and stuff.
There goes the only man who could bring some glory to Portugal. We're already below underdogs. |

Paulinho is one unlucky man, i feel for him.
Apparantly Beijing will be smog free by the time of the Road Race. |

Ha don't make me laugh,
the official statistics will say its pollution free, but a glance outside will say otherwise. don't wory though according to a BOCOG official ignore the smog, just listen to the official statistics.

I don't know how all those people can live in a city like that, surely it takes years off of you? |

The smog in Beijing has nothing to say really, as the race is held 80 km outside Beijing near the great wall.

The start and finish are very nice, lets just hope that smog doesn't interfere. |

Yes but, it's only for a short time they will be there, and the "real" racing is outside of the city.

I hate how BBC News keep "reporting" the Olympics.
They don't actually report anything on the Olympics, they just take the time to have a go at China. It's very annoying
