I find it pretty impressive that some of you have deleted 2000 PM's considering the speed of this site. It must have taken ages.
About "attacks", I have noticed in my error log that some IP's from Russia and the likes are trying to access the site by going to URL's which don't exist (forum.pcmdaily.com or pcmdaily.com/phpbb). But it's not a lot of attacks, though, so I won't blame that.
In the end, I personally think it's a matter of the database size. Too many posts in the forum, too many private messages, etc. Only problem is that I'm not too keen on reducing this, because it's "site history". I'm much more keen on making the move to PHP-Fusion V7, and that's what I'm currently working on.
I think that the outlook for the site is good, even though im not that experienced with websites, PHP-Fusion V7 sounds very impressive No need to tell me what it does, i think i know
Good luck CrueTrue keep up the awesome work, as a long serving member id like to say ive enjoyed every moment on this site, it made me think when going through my PMs. I read some of my old ones. Thank you guys!
I too have been looking at some of my older PM's whilst deleting them. There are some funny memories also some memories of some stupid decisions I made in the past...
Still got about 2000 to delete though, but should be good to read a few of them from ages ago
EDIT: done...
The site was having a "quick" moment which helped . Good to read a few of the older PM's although It's obvious that before February 2007 I used to delete my PM's regularly as there are a few PM's from then that didn't make sense and we RE'ing to PM's that weren't there, so I didn't get to read see the PM's ever received.
Twas good to see them though, some funny ones, some stupid things by me which made me slightly angry at myself just now for being an idiot etc. You know, the usualEdited by Addy291 on 21-07-2008 00:48
I get the feeling that is all to do with how many people are connected at one time. It seems to get slower the more people that are on. To back myself up sometimes it doesn't load with lots of people on and it comes up with a page saying too many connections.
I'm a little behind everyone because I've been on holidays - went to see the Tour so when the site is back to usual speeds and operation I'll upload my pictures. Maybe not all of them, there are quite a lot
Glad to see the site back up and running again, was a shock when I came back from Spain to see the site down, but one way round it is to go back on holiday until everything returned
