Manager view of the upcoming races
We have had a decent start so far on the Pro Tour season. A few podiums in France and already two wins in Italy. Still, I had a look at the schedule in front of us and I have made some changes. I now have the following plan, send Pozzato to MSR with the goal to win, he should be able to do that if we make it a hard race for the other sprinters. After that it's the cobble classics were Pozzato and Bäckstedt will share the leadership. In Pais Vasco I will send Di Luca to warm up for the hilly classics and to get a win. In the hilly classics it's Di Luca and Pozzato as leaders, Di Luca is number one of course. In Romandie I will send Nibali as leader, to give him some experience and because I want to see what he can do against the top. Giro d'Italia is a big goal of the season and Pellizotti will be leader there. Di Luca would be the best choice, but I'm afraid that he wouldn't be able to keep his form all the way after classics. In Catalunya it's Cataldo that will be given a chance to shine, I don't think he will do much, but I want to give him a chance, who knows what will happen. Later in june we we have 3 races, In Dauphine it's time for Nibali again, warming up for tdf and the fight for the white jersey. Meanwhile in Tour de Suisse we will send Di Luca as his warm up before the tdf, his goal is the yellow jersey there. In the TTT we are going to send some good TT riders and a few tdf riders to warm up. Finally in Tour de France we will, as mentioned, have Di Luca for the yellow jersey, Nibali for the white, Di Luca also for the polka dot and Chicchi and Pozzato will try there best for the green one. |

Well, we didn't get much of a result here in P-N, but I'm still fairly satisfied. We had a few podiums and we showed ourselves in many stages |

So 3rd place and 2 stage wins for us, the sponsors aren't happy, but I'm satisfied. It's a decent result and now I'm looking forward to see if Pozzato can defend his title in Milano-Sanremo |

good to see this is progressing nicely alex. in no time you'll get to march! isn't that the surprise
I see you've posted the planning for the rest of the season. any ideas about the Vuelta yet?

Thanks man, I haven't really decided anything about after the Tour yet, but the general idea is to send some riders to get stage wins. I don't have any rider to challenge for the GC really.....possibly Cataldo for the mountain or U-25 jersey if he develops well during the season and Gasparotto for the sprints.
@Crommy............Paolini withdrew on the 6th stage and he is fine now. Will be ready for MSR to help Pozzato. |

With about 70km left there is a group with some early breakaway riders, Ivanov and Flecha in the lead. They are looking good, but the peleton is doing well in the chase.
The two riders are now alone with about 45 sec on the chasing peleton that doesn't seem to be getting any closer
Milram makes sure that they are caught by a 97 man peleton on the 2nd last climb, then it's time for Pozzato to his first move of the day. He goes infront and drives hard on the last bit of the climb.
He breaks it down to 28 riders without to much problem, very good form it seems. On the other hand, Bettini and Freire is still there of course, and for some weird reason Boonen is still hanging on
Some attackers on the flat part, including Ricco, Boogerd and Voigt, they get a decent gap before the last climb
Pozzato makes move number two of the day, attacks with 10km left of the race in the last climb
He manages to join the front group, a perfect race so far, but the peleton is chasing hard
Voigt gets a small gap before the sprint. Pozzato takes Ricco's wheel, but Ricco doesn't start the sprint and seeing the peleton behind and Voigt already in a 200 meter lead he decides to do a long sprint alone
He makes it, la primavera for Pozzato, he defends his title!.......Voigt is 2nd and Sanchez Gonzalez 3rd

great win, i was really expecting Voigt's gap to be enough for him to win
but Pipo is a far better sprinter i suppose |

Thanks everyone
Pro Tour Standings
Individual:
Voigt has with 70 points so far the pro tour lead, but he is closely chased by riders like Ricco, Sanchez Gonzalez, Pozzato and Pellizotti. It's a long way left before anything is decided.
Team:
Team CSC has the lead in the team competition much because of Jens great start if the season. As you can see four teams has a bit of lead over the rest. |

Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali
We sent Di Luca and Bäckstedt here, the goal was for them to gain some form and also compete for stage wins. It went better then expected, Bäckstedt won the only flat stage and Di Luca won 2 stages and the GC.
Last stage, Di Luca wins his 2nd one and takes the GC as well

I missed screens for the first stages so I didn't think it was worth it
Leaders:
Magnus Bäckstedt
Filippo Pozzato
Bäckstedt knows that he wont survive the hills and tries a long attack with 140km left........the riders that join him is Gilbert, Schumacher and Zabel......shit
The four riders get a decent gap, behind them there is another group that breaks away........it's big favorite Boonen and his helper Bauget, they gets away from everyone except Flecha and Pozzato
The two group joins and it's a very good group of 7 riders left after Schumacher gets dropped. Meanwhile, Hincapie has attacked and is chasing solo.
With 60km left it's Flecha, Boonen and Pozzato that has destroyed the others. They have a decent lead and it's Boonen that's the strongest it seems
Indeed he is, he leaves the others behind a while later. Pozzato is having problems even with Flecha's pace. Hincapie is getting closer from behind, still solo
20km later he is still alone, he now has a big lead over Flecha and Pozzato and seems to be getting ready for his 3rd win in the race.
It's decided, he will win.......in the back Hincapie has finally joined the two riders Pozzato and Flecha. They will fight for 2nd
Here you can see when he catches up with the two riders
It's Tom Boonen that takes a comfortable win here
Pozzato sprinted for 2nd and takes it!
Flecha takes 3rd over Hincapie that has to settle for 4th place

How did Pozzato take 2nd
Great result, you're either the greatest tactician I've ever met, or Pozzato's form is superb compared to Flecha and Hincapie.
Of course, I'm a nice guy, so I'll opt for the first one
