On the other hand, he should wait for JLT-Condor, as he might have still time enough to find another opportunity before next season starts if they finally don't offer him a contract (it's still August).

Heybridge are there for the taking, Marcus will slot one in in the 27th.
He has a bigger future in cycling currently but it's only August, wait a month or two for JLT since they gave you a trial and keep seeing how the football progression comes. Then dig around for another British team.
Also, looks like I won the minute guessing game, can't wait for double points next footy upgrade time

Coming out of the tunnel in our home blue kits for the first time, I got goosebumps. I always pictured myself playing for Tottenham, but playing for my hometown team is pretty special too. My mom and sister were among the 266 supporters at our season opener at Park Lane.
This was the moment. The start of my football journey.
Match Day #1 vs. Waltham Abbey (0-0-0) Season and home opener, let's put on show for our supporters!

Summary: By George, 'Big' George Sykes opens the new season with a first-half hat trick. The scenes. Two off his noggin and the other a perfect cross across the box to back post by Sam Collins. What a start to the season.
Rating: 6.6 - I got my first action in the 75th minute. I didn't do much and stayed out of harm's way. Sykes stole all the spotlight.
Player of Game: George Sykes, Canvey Island FC (9.5)
I sat on the bench and didn't play in Match Day #2 against Cheshunt (0-1-0). It ended as boring 0-0 away draw to put us on four points. My name didn't get called for Match Day #3 either and we drew again (1-1) to Maldon & Tiptree (2-0-0).
Match Day #4 at Heybridge (1-2-0) Another chance to provide a spark coming off the bench.

Another tie, ugh. In the rain, George Sykes heads home another cross from Sam Collins. Heybridge find the equalizer in the 68th minute.
Rating: 6.6 - Same rating I got in the season opener. I replaced Charley Barker in the middle field and didn't have too much success.

Match Day #5 at Norwich United (0-4-0) "We got a weaker opponent today, so welcome to the Starting XI kid."

Abysmal. Coach Danny Heale didn't say anything after the game. He just threw his clipboard and walked out on us. Some of the players unfortunately ran into him again later that evening at a local pub. I was told it got pretty awkward.
Rating: 6.2 - Ugly first start. But, I got my first shot of the season off, it was a 24-yard strike coming off a clearance attempt. It pegged Sam Collins, standing in an offside position, right in the side of the head. I swear it was going into the top corner.
Player of Game: Harry Norman, Canvey Island (7.2)
After that forgettable performance, I have yet to get into another game. I don't blame Coach Heale, I've sucked and my stamina isn't very good either. I need to get better and so does the team.
Match Day #6: 2-1 loss to Barking (3-0-2)
Match Day #7: 0-0 draw to Haringey (4-2-0)
Match Day #8: 2-1 loss to Hertford (0-2-5)
The lone bright spot has been George Sykes. He has locked down being our top striker. Leaving me to battle with James Walker (who has scored twice) for the other forward spot in our traditional 4-4-2.
Sykes might have been carried by a huge opening game, but he is tied a top the league for most goals with 5. The big man knows how to use his head.
League Standings (8 out of 46 games)
Only eight games in, but people around town are already questioning what is going on with Canvey Island FC. We haven't won since our amazing season opener. When will this free fall end? Hopefully soon.
We only have five games this month. Got to climb back up the table.

- Stats work on a decimal system starting at 1.0.
- Stats are bumped up in FM when they hit that number, ex. 2.9 = 2 in-game, and 13.4 = 13 stat in-game.
- The decimal numbers will remain hidden.
- There is a threshold for each stat when more points are needed to increase that stat. It's start off on a 1-to-1 scale where 1 point equals 1 stat upgrade. However, the scales get exponentially further and further apart the closer that stat gets to the maximum of 20. The increasing scale will also remain a mystery and is different from the cycling progression scale.

Previous Bonuses: Guessing the number of minutes in Diamond's first friendly was jandal7 who said 31 minutes. Right answer was 34 minutes. jandal7 gets his points doubled this turn on the training ground.
In predicting if Diamond would score his first goal in August, a pessimistic redordead had the closest answer with no goal and 12 shots. Diamond went scoreless and only recorded one shot. redordead gets to choose one football stat to move up to 13.0. All other points for that stat this turn will be applied on top of the bump to 13.0.
Wait or Explore (Part 2): Marcus Diamond decided to focus on football in August and waiting to hear back from JLT Condor. He still hasn't heard back from them. Should he continue waiting or now start looking elsewhere in September for a cycling opportunity, which would slow down his football progression for this upcoming month?

We haven't won a game since our season opener (0-2-5) and I've only played in three games for a total of about 125 minutes. Not the start to the season we had envisioned, but there is still plenty of time to turn things around.
Match Day #9 at AFC Sudbury (3-3-2) Can we get this ship back on track?

Summary: Early goal goes in and we can't recover. An extremely poor day from our leading goal scorer George Sykes with a 6.0 rating.
Rating: 6.5 - I replaced Sykes in the 68th minute, but also struggle to get our offense going. The run of bad form continues for me and the team.
Player of Game: David Cowley, AFC Sudbury (9.0)
When you don't take your chances, it comes back to bite you. Canvey Island didn't need me in Match Day #10 as my counterpart James Walker shined for the first time this season. The Antiguan & Barbudan 29-year-old striker lashed out with a hat trick with two of the goals coming from the penalty spot.
Assist machine Sam Collins also picked up his first goal of the season in the 4-1 victory against the lowly Bowers & Pitsea (3-5-1).
Match Day #11 at Grays (6-1-3) One of the hottest teams in the league, but we got our mojo back.

Summary: Grays lost its temper after a red card in the 5th minute and then went down to 9 men in the 71st minute. George Sykes took full advantage with his second hat trick of the season and back-to-back hat tricks for the team. Walker also got a goal.
Rating: N/A - I was basically told to just give Sykes a curtain call in the 87th minute. I'm not going to get much playing time if our strikers play like that every game. Perhaps I should start looking at other positions?
Player of Game: George Sykes, Canvey Island FC (9.6)
A goalless 0-0 Match Day #12 against AFC Hornchurch (7-3-1) wasn't terrible against one of the top teams. Although, I didn't get on the pitch.
"Marcus, you are getting a start today at right back." ... "Huh?"

Summary: Our first come from behind win of the season. James Walker and George Sykes mount the second half comeback to save three points. It was deserved having outshot them 16-5 (7-4 on target).
Rating: 7.3 - An unexpected start in defense was just what I needed. Coach knows what he is doing. I posted my best rating ever in the rally win. And I'll take some of the blame in giving up the first goal, as my man got behind me and that lead to a goal scoring cross. But, that was one of my only mistakes.
I also nearly got my first assist with my last kick of the game before getting subbed off in the 87th minute. Clearing the ball out of my own box, James Walker got behind the Soham defense and I had unintentionally sent him straight through on goal. One-on-one with the keeper, Walker smashed the crossbar. I put my hands on top of my head in disbelief. Not every day you can pick up an assist as a right back.
Player of Game: George Sykes, Canvey Island FC (7.9)
League Standings (13 out of 46 games played)
Ten out of possible 15 points this month has moved us up from 15th place to 11th. Heading in the right direction again. Our +7 goal difference is pretty good too.

Position Change?: After Marcus Diamond had a solid outing as a right back in Match Day #13, Canvey Island head coach Danny Heale has asked Marcus to move to defense for the foreseeable future. Should Marcus comply with the request or beg Heale to keep him as a striker?

Switch to right back for a while imo. Any chance of contacting JLT yourself? May be a bit much for their taste but hopefully if they're good guys they'd appreciate your position. even if they say no you then know not to wait for them and can begin the search for a different outfit

I believe he should try being a defender, takes pressure out of him and it seems to suit him much more. Also, I completely agree with Jandal.

Change to defender for now, see if he performs better there.
Explore, It's getting a little late to continue waiting unless he wants to skip this coming cycling season and hope to partake in more tryouts at the end of the football season.

Taking the initiative can be scary, but it's the only way things get done. What's the worst JLT Condor could tell me? That they didn't have a roster spot for me? Well, then I could start looking elsewhere. I had to make the phone call.
Communications Manager Claire Beaumont picked up the phone, "Hello, JLT Condor Cycling, this is Claire. How can I help you?"
"Hi, this is Marcus Diamond. I was involved in one of your prospect camps a couple months back and I was told management would get in touch with me if an opening for next year's roster ever came up. I'm just calling to get an update and perhaps speak to team manager John Herety."
"John is currently traveling with the team, but I can let him know you are trying to reach him. But, I wouldn't count on him getting back to you right away though. It's going to be a busy couple of weeks with the season coming to a close."
"If you could let him know, that would be great. Any chance you know if the team is interested in adding another cyclist to the roster for next season?"
"I haven't heard anything. Sorry."
Option 1: Wait for phone call. Pros: Keeps the opportunity to get a contract with JLT Condor and his football progression doesn't suffer. Cons: Wasting time if there is no offer and Marcus Diamond will have to scramble to make a team in November and December.
Option 2: Move on. Pros: Better chance of finding a cycling team before the new season. Cons: All points for the training ground progression this month will be cut in half and no training ground session next month.
Position Change?: Marcus Diamond has decided to listen to Canvey Island head coach Danny Heale and has accepted his new role at right back. Well, at least for the time being, just to see if he can have more of an impact on the back line.

Changing my mind to Option 1, seeing as he has called them, chances are he should get a call back, even if it is to say there isn't a spot for him, and if he doesn't even get a call then he should be extra motivated to beat them for the rudeness.
