Why is Tadej Pogacar so godly as a 19 year old? I know you dont put too much stock into progression etc, but that guy is a guaranteed one of TDF favourites even 2 years into the career (3 out of 3 times he reached 80 MO before the end of 2nd season) |

Mühlberger DH has been done.
Now just throwing this out there to get an overall opinion.
Do you guys think that both Thomas and Dumoulin should have the same mtn stat?

It's probably too early to tell, though we'll know by the end of the tour I think. Until then I think Dumoulin should be on point better than Thomas, considering that Dumoulin did the Giro.

I think from now on, Thomas deserves 80 MO however it ends. If he wins Tour, probably even 81 and good REC. This is not the first time he performs that well, but sure he's being impressive now.

Agree it's too early BUT if Thomas goes all the way like finishing 1st or in the top 3 then it will be hard to keep him on 79 and 80 would be justifiable

81 either is not impossible but remember like Dumoulin due to his flat and res will feel like a point more anyway

That seems reasonable

Marco they have two of the highest res with Dumoulin a huge 79 and Thomas a high 77,.
Also no way will Poels be 80. He needs to be behind Froome, Thomas and Bernal in mtn stat and will probably stay 79 even though he's looked less this Tour.

My thoughts on GC riders:
Froome 82 MO (he should be clear number 1)
Porte 81 (low on RES and REC)
Bardet 81
Nibali 80/81
Quintana 80 (good REC)
Doumulin 80 (great TT,FL,RES will make him feel better as a GC rider than other 80 MO guys)
Landa/Pinot/G.Thomas 80
Uran 80 (dunno if he deserves downgrage, i personally wouldn't)
S.Yayes 80 (low-ish REC)
Pozzo/Zakarin/Poels/Dan Martin/Roglic/Fuglsang 79
Just my opinion, I still have doubts on Aru,Adam Yates and Majka. At this moment I have them all on 79 MO.

Some good ideas but not sure why you think Porte should have lower res he's actually a more power/rhythm climber than a punchy one. Porte's big problem is that despite being one of the big favs alaways crashes out so we never get to see his true ability and rec capability have to wait for the Vuelta now hich I hear he's riding.
Quintana is a hard one and clearly not as good as he was some years ago, every year he supposedly has great preparation for the Tour but is disappointing and again everybody will be looking to see how he does in the third week but 80 does look harsh.
Roglic we have no real idea of how good he actually can be, best to judge him after some more mtn stages.
Riders like Thomas and Dumoulin again now better after the final week and much will depend on whether a 83 or 82 mtn matric is used for the top rider/s to see where they fit in
Riders like Majka will all be 78 and 77 mtn.

Yeah, I agree. We will have a better idea after the Tour will end.
Just a quick mention: If the best on COB have 81, HIL and SPR will proabily be 81 or 82, I suggest a MO metric of 82 as well and not go all the way to 83.

I've never reacted before, but I am a big fan of your dbs. I would like to draw attention to Steven Kruijswijk. I think he is fine at 79 MO, but think his backup stats should be higher, especially RES and END after his attack on the way to Alpe d'Huez, soloing for 68 k, and finishing just seconds behind Quintana. Kruijswijk is at his best in stages with multiple cols and (very) long ITTs (for instance the mountain stage where he took pink in the 2016 Giro, or the ITT in the 2015 Giro).
I personally think he also needs an update on REC as he is usually at his best in the third week, but I think it's best to wait for a week to judge that.
These higher backup stats can make him succesful in GTs (he's basically at the level of Landa, maybe a little bit under) without making him a winner of stage races of a week, which he is not.

In my opinion all this discussion is clueless, since everything could change in final week, like Simon Yates. He could have got 81 MON, but then he has fallen. |
