I know the video is much faster but that doesnt mean that it is impossible you have to get near the middle of the shape and then you can get round, if you get the start right it is fine.

I figured out what my problem was: the firebug extension I have on firefox was making the game run much faster than usual. only my inputs (the red square) were at normal speed.
So I turned off firebug and tried the game a third time. this time level 23 was possible
Around 2 out of 3 of the deaths I had were on level 28.
