Power calculations (Watts) in cycling

Indeed. And my point in this case is, the statistic science is much more valuable, than trying to calculate a max AT, because the circumstances (the last mountain) is filled with unknown parameters. Wind, temperature, the road leading to last mountain (both elevation and length), the speed of the pack, the previous etapes, strength of team etc, etc.
Bringing a theoretic max humanly possible AT into the picture, just blurres things up, and makes it much easier to dismiss the statistic material. If such a calculation was possible, then wouldn't that be enough to sanction riders? If science could come up with such a number, then surely it could be used in a court of law!
