Hopefully the team can get back to the WT next year, I doubt Europcar will be back how bad are they that they didn't score a single point? Who are their leaders?
Thanks DyCyc, we hope so too. We'll make the best out of our time back in PCT but to be honest, I hope and we need it to be just one season. Then we need to get back to WT and stay there!
Welker: Europcar were dramatic
Their leaders were Le Bon, Laporte, Chevrier and Pichon. I also think they had Sorensen. So... Not completely justified that they scored 0 points but it's understandable.
Just simmed to the next season. (oh also nice fact: because of our good results and CareerExplorer allows me to correct nation sizes at WC, South Africa will be sending 6 riders to the next WC!)
This is what happened last season:
(Updated Palmares post - page 1 of this thread with Olujimi and Sekibo's results up until the new season)
Olujimi
for Olujimi, it was a major breakthrough season. 3 wins at the Giro d'Italia is enough for anybody to become an instant hit in the world of cycling. Add the KoM Jersey and a 6th spot in Poland and you've got an impressive season for a 22-year old.
Sekibo took another big step forward by winning in the Tour of Belgium. Add a top 10 in both Milan - Sanremo and Plouay and you'd say he's about ready for his first victory on World Tour level, right? This season, that'll be his main goal. After winning in a .1 race in his debut season and winning in a .HC race last season, WT seems the next obvious choice.
He's really growing into his potential now, doing great training during the winter and he seems stronger than ever. For a sprinter, 3 wins in a season are not enough. So he'll want to up that, too!
A very strong start of the third season by Sekibo. Qatar was hot and Sekibo likes it that way. He managed two victories, a 2nd and a third place and in the end finished 3rd in the GC. With main competitors Kristoff and Danny Van Poppel there, that's definitely a success.
But then!
In a very surprising and thrilling Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Sekibo surprised friend and foe (and me, most of all!) by finishing 2nd! Could the young South African have a future on the cobblestones as well?
It definitely looks like he's taken a very strong season start and he's getting some amazing performances right now. With this Omloop result, he's going to aim for Kuurne and Wevelgem, too, later this season.
Sekibo, aged 23, just wrote a piece of cycling history. After a strong season start including 2 wins in Qatar, a 2nd place in the Omloop and 2nd in Kuurne, he went to the Tour of Langkawi, with a stage win as the main goal.
Well, he pulled a Guardini, and then some.
7(!!!) stage wins out of 8. Winning the General Classification, Points Jersey and even Mountain Jersey (nicely placed KoM sprints near finishes helped). Placing 5th on the mountainous stage. Yes. Pure domination by the 23 year old South African.
If he wasn't launched already, he sure is now, for an international big career.
But don't think Oluijmi is staying behind. He took a top 10, too. Add a 10th place in the Omloop (BOTD survivor) and he's also expanding his horizon.
Just caught up - awesome, just awesome. This might tempt me to go back and claim Olujimi in CX... unless...
Hey everyone, you know Farai Olujimi, the likeable amazing rider in this story? He's playable in that great CX game I'm always advertising
Seriously Ian keep it up, love it so far. Career Explorer being used to the full extent here, great tool
