A bit sad that both the elite categories races are decided by punctures. Though the women's race was very exciting. I guess I was wrong and both Van Aert and vdPoel were by far the strongest once again.
Lars Boom had to retire after too many punctures because he was out of tires. Never seen anything alike.
Season is all but over now. I'm a bit disappointed looking back, two guys were outstanding this year but we never saw a really good duel decided in the last turn. Women's WC was the best race I watched this year really.
The Men's World Championships was a farce, but the season had some (short but) good duels. Sporza listed a few of them. https://sporza.be/.../1.2894306
Overall the season was pretty predictable, with Van Aert and van der Poel winning every race.
Mathieu seems to have grown this season, despite all the knee problems. He can keep up with Van Aert on the tougher courses. Wout was already insanely powerful but doesn't seem stronger than last season.
Also when Mathieu and Wout were both in the final, Mathieu would win every time. Wout could only win by a solo if Mathieu had bad luck or was dropped.
Wout is once again the big winner of the season, though Mathieu had more individual wins. Wout won the World Cup, DVV-Trofee, Belgian NC and the WC. Mathieu won 'just' the Superprestige and the Dutch NC.
