My question was (you answered in a backward manner) will being found positive for Dyn-EPO get you a ban?
Short answer: No.
The bigger question for me is whether any team will touch him now or whether he'll retire.
Supposedly Acqua & Saponne tried to sign him but he asked for a huge wage plus 3 certain riders to be signed by the team as helpers.

So, a form of EPO isn't doping, and yet tobe stringent the UCI did what they did with van Impe, that is ridiculous. |

The only reason you don't get a ban for Dyn-Epo is because the test hasn't been proven as effective yet or something like that. In other words, he was found positive, but the test doesn't count as legal evidence.

Also, my question was where would people rank Danielson, both in America and overall in the world? |

One other question - Do people think that Hindcapie is a good climber? Besides that one stage where he led Lance up and took the stage win, he hasn't shown himself to be an amazing climber. |

Hincapie managed to reach 385 W on the climb to Saint-Lary where he won that stage. That was almost his best mountain perfomance during a Grand Tour.
That's a value that can be attained by about 60 or 80 riders from today's peloton (not from an average peloton, I mean among all the pro riders today). That's good but never sufficient to win a Grand Tour or even a decent one week race.
As for Danielson, I cannot find values, but from what I remember of his Grand Tours efforts, and the riders he managed to follow there, he was probably reaching 410-420W on some mountains. That's much more impressive than Hincapie, although still far from Bjarne "EPO" Riis (485 W at best), Jan Ullrich (470 W) or Lance Armstrong and Ivan Basso (465 W).
Once again, those values are equivalent watts, not real watts which which would require to know the exact riders' weights at the very moment of the climb (= impossible and almost pointless). |

www.cyclismag.com , although if you cannot read French you may have some troubles finding your way there.
But just enter "watts" in the search index and you should find some interesting stuff. |

I think Hincapie is a fairly good climber, I'd give him maybe 74 in pcm. As for Danielson; 76 at most.(The best climbing stat I would give is 83, to piepoli and maybe one or to others.)

Here's a brief summary of riders' best wattages on the Grand Tours for 2 years, all according to cyclismag, I didn't include riders officially caught with dope :
Valverde : 455 W Cobertoria, Vuelta 2006
Piepoli : 455 W Nostra Signora de la Guardi, Giro 2007
Di Luca : 450 W Nostra Signora de la Guardi, Giro 2007
A. Schleck, Simoni : 445 W Nostra Signora de la Guardi, Giro 2007
Ricco, Savoldelli, Cunego : 440 W Nostra Signora de la Guardi, Giro 2007
Klöden : 440 W, Alpe d'Huez, TDF 2006
Contador, Rasmussen : 435 W Peyresourde, TDF 2007
Menchov : 435 W Valdelinares, Vuelta 2005
Sastre : 435 W Alpe d'Huez, TDF 2006
Leipheimer : 435 W Alpe d'Huez, TDF 2006
Moreau, Evans : 430 W, Télégraphe, Dauphiné* 2007
Soler : 425 W Plateau de Beille, TDF 2007

(*) Dauphiné is not a Grand Tour, but that's what I found best for Evans and Moreau

I remember some random interview with Cecchini on youtube where he was asked who was the best rider in his opinion. He answered that one of the men he trained, Bjarne Riis (yes, the footage was old) was at 480 watts "right under the acid limit", but that Induráin in his prime would have been somewhere between 530-560.
I don't know how he knew, and being Cecchini it might be bullcrap, but it's interesting nonetheless.
