Probably not. It'll take an off-day from Axelsson, but I'm positive he'll end on the podium at the very least.
considering the TT skills of everyone and the GC as it is, I'd say if he doesn't crash and doesn't get sick (like Dekker last year) there's a 99% chance he ends up on the podium

Just saw the stage. Boonen and Ciolek clearly are nowhere near the league of Freire, much less that of Petacchi in terms of speed right now.

Yeah, Boonen wil come into it. But i think Cavendish will be High Roads main guy in the main part of the season. Nothing against Ciolek or anything hes still good. |

pfff Boonen is shite, dunno whats wrong with him.
And its not only in sprints, it doesnt look good if you compare his form/condition with what other favs for tour of flanders & paris-roubaix already have shown(like cancellara, ballan, hoste, gilbert, etc) |

For the classics, I don't think that's an indication. The form can be judged only when the big races come around. Look at Hoste last year. 7 days before de Ronde his form was horrible.
Gilbert for instance has peaked far too soon (like he does most years). People tend to think that whoever shows great early form will win, despite the exact opposite happening every year. Gilbert will do nothing when the April races come around.
This time last year everyone was drooling "ZOMFG Pozzato PWNZLOL" because he won the Het Volk. He did nothing in April.

Ballan is showing early warning signal, not peaked yet hence the reason why he found it rather hard on that climb he attacked on. He should be in good shape coming into the classics |

I think it's to do with him being far too heavy to attack on such a steep incline. But I agree that he seems to be progressing nicely.

He may have started the season slightly over wiegth like Bettini. Tirreno would be a great way to get into shape and lose a bit of flab (if they have any :lol |

Is bettini overweight? I haven't noticed. It's certainly weird that he hasn't done anything yet this year.
And by "heavy" in my previous post I was referring to Ballan being a bloody giant , not as any reference to being fat

Yeah, still people like Ballan and Betting have possibly start the season slightly over weight Bettine was like 6kg I think. But still this race will be a good way for Bettini to get his weight down. |
