Now rest for Jan and preparing for Vuleta. I was considering to ride him in Czech cycling tour, but it ends 5 days before VaE, so we probably didn't race there.
We start another race which is one of my favourites in the calendar - ENECO TOUR.
Just 6 riders we can take, so we choose two sprinters - Gaviria and Brateng, out leader looking that penultimate stage is ITT - Micolucci, and 3 quite good ITT riders, because second stage is a TTT - Gradek, Mihaylov and Taciak. I like this race, because there are always strong crosswinds, which make racing different than in other races. We were close in front to not losing any second.
Peloton was splitting
Micolucci and Brateng tried to help Gaviria fight for the win in the end.
But Cofidis had the fastest TGV today, with Bouhanni at the end of it.
Nacer won, Gaviria 5th and Brateng was 7th.
46-riders in first group, others have probably no chance to win GC.

Once again flat, once again without wind. This time leadout wasn't so good, riders were more tired.
Bouhanni had a very fast Vanbilsen as last leadout man. We decided to put our train on the left.
But this time Nacer was too strong. Fernando was second and it gives him a leader jersey.

7 stage - hilly with cobbledstones
We put Brateng in breakaway with 2minutes in GC to the leader he was a threat.
Peleton was splitting, breakaway still had 3 minutes.
As I saw that escape will not make it, Brateng wait for group to help Gaviria, but then I saw that he is too strong, and Gaviria was helping him. Group was really small, but still 2 pave climbs.
Situation 13km to go
There were attacks in the end. Brateng was really strong, but he was blocked on narrow pave sections. Izagirre won
Boom was second, as our Norweagian viking took third. Micolucci and Gaviria were in main group.

Let's start second most important race in this season for us VUELTA A ESPANA
We took quite strong team:
Ranieri Micolucci
Nikolay Mihaylov
Branislau Samoilau
Sylwester Szmyd
Jarosław Marycz
Mateusz Taciak
Jan Hirt
Eryk Latoń
Fernando Gaviria
Of course our leader is Hirt, who will have Micolucci, Szmyd and Samoilau in MO. This time we didn't go for a training camp. Micolucci is quite tired so I don't know if I withdraw him. I took him because first stage is TTT, so he is important. Gaviria have Latoń and Marycz in sprint finish. There are 6 flat stages.
I took a look on start list, and there are riders which can be in the mix for the win: Jan Hirt, Tejay van Garderen, Bauke Mollema, Daniel Martin, Diego Ulissi, Julian Alaphilippe, Joaquim Rodriguez. That's all. Hirt look very good in the mix, shame that we don't have a good enough team. Rider like Poljański who will join us next year, will be good addition. What is important all the Jan rivals were riding in Tour de France just month ago (don't know if Ulissi, but other for sure). Jan is fresh, from Giro he was racing only in Portugal when he won.
Vuelta a Espana stage 2
The start of the race and first mountain stage, but this final climb is more like hill, not a mountain. There was an escape, but not a threat.
Alaphilippe hit the ground
Pace on the flat was really high and Jan lost some yellow bar
Moreno, Sagan and Dan Martin attacked. Hirt isn't so dynamic, so I decided to catch them going with my own tempo.
When I catched them, Sagan and Martin attacked again
I had to slow down a bit, and other riders pass me like Mollema.
Sagan won, so it's a prove that it was more hilly than mountain stage. Dan Martin second.
Hirt was 7th

Jan could do great at the Vuelta, he has been immense for the team so far. Also great thing for Gaviria winning that stage and taking the leaders jersey for a couple of days at the Eneco Tour!
Thanks for comment But it look like the more good results to come
Vatenfall Cyclassics
Pace was really hot, but we were staying in front. Brateng, Delle Stelle, Gradek and Bole were protected as Norwegian was a leader. We were hoping for TOP 5 finish.
20 km to go and main group was quite small, but our leaders still in front
We made a train 10km to go, but riders were already tired.
Van Avermeat attacked and I was thinking that it's all gone, but he was tired and sit back on the saddle few moments later.
3km to go, Brateng with Delle Stelle on the front!
Delle Stelle made a perfect job, can Carl grab a win!?
Hell yeah, what a job by CCC riders for Brateng.

3rd stage
It was a hilly stage, not the best for Jan who is weak in flat terrain and he is a good but not a very good puncher. Before final, Jan was already quite tired.
When attacks start, Jan was riding with his own pace.
He catched leaders in finale, but couldn't fight with them.
Suprisingly De Gendt won, Hirt was 9th.
4th stage
Another hilly stage. Peloton splitted at the very steep climb. Hirt was in front group.
It was 10 riders group.
But the pack join us. There was Gaviria with +5 and I didn't know how the finish look like and who will be better there, Jan or Fernando.
I decided that Hirt is a overall leader, so Gaviria will help him in the end.
And it was a good decision, as Hirt took 2nd place.

Yet another hilly stage. Hirt was all alone in the finale. Not good situation, few riders like Mollema and Betancur tried to attack.
But it was bunch sprint from 30 riders group, when Sagan was the fastet. Jan didn't lose any second.

First flat stage, so we count for Gaviria who won once in WT - Tour de Suisse. We tried to build a leadout, but riders were very tired.
Latoń put Fernando in good position.
Has he power to hold other riders till the finish?
Unfortunately not, Fernando was 5th, Sagan won second in a row.

Once again flat, second chance for Gaviria. Our leadout was worse than day before. I decided to put Gaviria as high as I could and then try to grab a wheel of Sagan. But Palini made amazing job and left everyone back.
Sagan was waiting too long on Palini wheel and suprisingly didn't win. 2,5 km to go I jumped on Hofland wheel who had leadout from Lotto Jumbo. Victory was close, but this time 2nd place. There will be still a few chances for Gaviria.

Hirt had Micolucci before last climb, but was -3, so we were hoping to not lose much time. I remember that at Giro I lost 3 minutes when I was -3.
Group was still quite big, Hirt was there, as Micolucci had to left him.
In the end there were attacks, but Hirt was quite good as a rider with -3 condition.
Van Garderen won ahead of Mollema and Hirt. Jan jumped to 3rd in GC.

Squad was good and Brateng was our leader. In the end we were able to made a beautifull orange TGV
When Paterski set a fast pace on the hill before the finish, only Stuyven grab a Brateng wheel. There was a Diego Rosa still in front, but he was already tired.
Brateng starts sprint 1km to go, Stuyven was still there. If Belgian beat us, it will be a big shame for our team.

Vuelta a Espana two very important stages 10 and 11
stage 10
Peloton let go two riders - Vermote and Rollin. They didn't chase them so I tried to go with Micolucci and Mihaylov. They let me go too and we even made a 10 minutes gap. Micolucci wasn't working as Niki was doing all the job.
On the penultimate climb Micolucci went clear, as in main group Chaves and Betancur tried to attack.
Jan was with Mollema and TVG. Meanwhile Chaves was only 2 minutes behind Ranieri and we knew that Italian won't win a stage. Ranieri was send back to help Jan in the end, as he was -3 again.
Micolucci left Hirt 5km to go and Hirt set a strong tempo and was chasing Chaves alone.
Again second place for Hirt, as he couldn't chase Esteban, but we have a leader jersey! And all this with -3 condition. Waiting for some +3/5 condition.

Flat stage chance for Gaviria, but there was an escape, will pack catch them?
We will probably not catch them. I hope Gaviria won't be first from the bunch
Who won? Guy who won yesterday in real Vuelta, Alessandro Demarchi. Gaviria was involved in fight for position in final and couldn't pass Latoń as he was blocked.

stage 13
On paper flat stage, but very steep climb in the final part. We decided to put Micolucci in the breakaway and try to left breakaway companions on the hill and go for the stage win.
Ranieri was +5 and everything looks fine as he left back his companions on the climb.
40km to go 5 minutes, can he stay ahead of the bunch?
Lotto Soudal guys were working for Kristoff.
20km to go and over 2 minutes, I see it in dark colours.
12km to go still 2 minutes and they stop chasing. WTF ?
Unfortunately they speed up tempo again and Lutsenko attacked jumping to Micolucci. I was frustrated and tried long finish with Hirt.
Micolucci was catched. Can Hirt catch Lutsenko?
No, Astana rider won in nice style, Hirt 5th.

Big escape with good riders. There might be a stage winner, as we don't have good team to chase them. I forget but few days ago first Samoilau and then Mihaylov had to withdrawn as they were injured.
Szmyd was working hard.
Penultimate climb, attack starts, Hirt had Micolucci ahead.
Situation before last climb. Betancur, Rodriguez and Dan Martin ahead. We knew that the last climb will be crucial so didn't chasing them at 100%.
Jan change gear and catch all his rivals. Still some power in legs and 3km to go.

stage 16
Another mountain stage, but not as tough as previous. There was an escape with 8th in GC Chaves.
We were working on the front
Hirt wasn't feel good today, as attacks start
Dan Martin and TVG went clear. Thankfully their gap to me in GC is quite big.
Second in GC Betancur attacks too
Martin won ahead of Betancur
Hirt was trying to minimalize gap and finish well, less than a minute behind winner, despite -4 condition.

Vuelta a Espana stages 17-19
Still without a stage win there. A flat stage I don't know if sprinter teams will chase escape so I put there a Micolucci.
Peloton was chasing us. Micolucci was feeling good but has poor ability of sprinting so I attacked 5km to go. Can Ranieri bring us a first win? (Meanwhile he improves his MO skill during this race from 74 to 76 ).
Gaviria was fighting with sprinters, but Micolucci probably will win by a minimal margin!
Yes, first win in this race. After he was catched 4km to go few days before, now he won a stage at Vuelta. Remember that he won one at Giro too.

stage 18
Finish at Pena Cabarga will not be for punchers IMO, but for climbers. But Ettix (Alaphilippe) and BMC was thinking that they can fight for win and were chasing breakaway.
Then a Micolucci made a great effort to reduce a gap, while Hirt felt very good.
From the start of the final climb, Hirt made a strong pace.
4km to go and he was in the lead with Martin on his wheel
Irish rider attacked
But Hirt who was very strong today, catched him and start a final sprint, can he finaly win a stage there?
Yes! Back to back win for CCC as Hirt shows his rivals that he won't let slip from his hands a red jersey.

stage 19
Another hilly stage. We have to watch for Betancur, as others shouldn't be threat for Hirt. There was a breakaway in front - as always in this race - which we couldn't manage to catch. Hirt had Micolucci next to him.
And another time Hirt used his favourite tactic to put strong tempo from the start of the climb.
Betancur was trying to gain some seconds.
but Hirt was next to him at the line, as Ten Dam won the stage.
3 minutes before last two stages. Now Angliru. Only a disaster can stop Hirt in win this race.

Now races in Canada. Any top 10 finish will be good for us. On paper hilly, but strong rider with good sprint can make a good result, so in Quebec our leader was a Carl Brateng, winner of Hamburg and second rider in Plouay.
Brateng was very strong as he was +5
Kelderman and Wellens attacked, while Brateng was waiting for final 10km
Our viking set a strong pace on last 4km. Keldermann was still in front, and he was very strong. (I was a cyclist in juniors and I remember when in Poland in one race I made a breakaway with Wilco. We get the finish 1minute ahead of the bunch. There was 4 of us, I was 4th and Wilco won. Now I supporting him when he is racing . BTW. He was a leader till the last stage, Owsian - now in CCC was second and I was third, but on last stage there was a breakaway and Wiśniowski - now ettix won in GC )
Wilco won
Brateng took amazing 3rd place behind Aru

20 stage
Final on Angliru, amazing mountain. I hope that escape won't make it and Jan will fight there for the win. Escape was strong again. We were working to minimalize gap, but they were good climbers. On penultimate climb Purito and Chaves try to go clear.
Hirt was strong and start chase after Purito and Esteban.
He catched them, but Elissonde was 3 minutes in front 2km to go, so win is unexpected.
Kenny won, but Hirt was second, just a little ahead of TVG. Jan showed again that he was the strongest rider there and he deserve to win this race!

Last, 21st stage of Vuelta a Espana
Short flat stage. Bunch sprint or escape. We formed a train, but probably once again, escape will make it.
Even Hirt was working for Gaviria today.
Bystrom won a stage, Gaviria was second from the bunch - thankfully, because if he was first I will be frustrated that we didn't catch the break.
But the news is that the CCC Sprandi rider - Jan Hirt won the whole race. I forget to export results, but nothing change there, so I will paste GC results from 20 stage.

ROAD RACE
We have team good for flat races. Latoń should be a leader but we will see. Wind will play the main role.
Cavendish hit the ground at the start of the race.
Valgren, Vakoc and Castroviejo were in the escape of the day
Wind was quite strong
Kittel had a flat tire
Meanwhile 50km to go Domoulin try to go alone.
Pace was really hot and peloton start to split
Then Stybar attacked
20km to go, still 3 our riders in front, but no power in legs. Unfortunately our rider Gaviria left back.
15km to go, 24 riders and Kaczmarek still there. Great effort by young Pole
6km to go Kaczmarek was out of fuel
Bonifazio starts sprint first, Kittel and Demare fell asleep. Will Italian win!?
What a surprise. Not Kittel, not Cavendish or even Demare, Sagan or Kristoff. It's Niccolo Bonifazio who will wear rainbow yersey next year.
