Enjoyable report, especially because it's not overly long Like this way of reporting, and will also allow a faster season!
Well it would be crazy for me to make them any longer!
Great to see so many races underway this season already, at this rate the season will be done in a fraction of what it took last year. That said, I'm sure we could do with some news guys reporting down the line.
@ cio - I wouldn't mind changing, if there is a large consensus on changing it that way. Though, I have always reported on the distance like that - pretty crazy to write that someone sprints for 2 KM!
@ Selwink - We know, you said that already.....! |

Napo and Maksimov just chatting it up in the back while the bunch sprint is going on. Actually wouldn't expect anything less in the Russian Rocket's PT debut.

That's great from Kristoff!
I'm happy with 8th, and once again he's able to get himself into a good position, which is nice to see. Hopefully he can continue in a similar way on the coming stages as well.
Powerful stuff from Bewley as he was forced to start a fair way back compared to his rivals. 20 seconds look like a solid lead, and if he can get Howard and his team to make a proper train again, it's difficult to see anyone beating him in this race.
Thanks for the report, The Rider. And I love the pace, would be great to see two stages a day for the final four stages as well

Bewley looks impressively strong!

I agree with cio. It's difficult to understand where you currently are when the distances are changed. I got used to PCM's distances and changing it up confuses me a bit.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Last year Schädlich did fight for top20 results. This year it`s Villella.
Groenewegen at least with a top100 this time. Even though it was close.
So it`s just about reaching a late top10 in GC with Keizer and a good stage result.
Would love my team to join the breakaways though.
Nice report The Rider. But I agree with others that I prefer to have it PCM like. Much more understandable where the riders are. It might sound weird when talking about a 3km sprint. But it`s like this in PCM. |

Gossy doing well so far. Please keep it going like that.
Shame about Li though. Not my biggest hope for the TT, but at least a strong roleur, who could have done something.

Thanks for the fast reports. It is really nice!
I have to say that I really dislike the Big gaps, though. The race will be closed before it starts almost with the TTers being already 50seconds down, and 10 seconds down on the top 10. That is likely to be 30 seconds or more before the TT, which takes away the interesting aspects of mingling the sprinters and TTers. Tzortzakis doing decent here. I hope he can keep fighting for spots around top 10 to give us a shot at having a rider in the final top 20 atleast.
Bewley will score 400 - 500points or so from this race.

Wouldn`t it be much different with old gaps?
I would really be interested in a comparison of both systems in the end.
I am quite sure that the top5 would pretty much look the same.
Behind the top5 only I expect differences as in recent years we saw lots of s.t. riders there in pure sprinters races. The prologue should give time trialists the same chances as always/last year. A late top5-10 for the very best.
And that Bewley will score more than with the old system is wrong I think. When he wins 5 stages this time, he scores just the same as if he won 5 stages with old system. |

Sure it would. With the old times only Bewley would be out of reach for the TTers at this point.
I didnt say anything about Bewley scoring more because of the change, I just mentorer that he would score something like that. Winding the GC, the points Jersey and 3-5 stages he should score 4-500 pts.

Let`s wait until after the race. As said, a comparison of both systems after the prologue would be very interesting. I doubt point wise it will see a lot of differences. Small points here and there but I doubt anything too big. |

Yeah Lets do that. I guess the best TTers will be somewhere between 10-15th this season, while in recent years the top TTers have been able to go as high as 5th. But yeah. We have to look at things when we are done, I guess I am just annoyed at myself for not noticing it, because I would not have picked Coppel for this race had I known. He has a very limited amount of racedays compared to many other TTers. I guess a rider like Cancellara wouldn't have been either - having a similar amount of racedays.

It's a sprinters stage race at the end of the day.
Don't forget that last year most of the sprinters got dropped in the wind one day, with a lot of the time triallists surviving - hence why so many time triallists ended up scoring so well.
Typical that having only been beaten by another train on Stage 1, Swift gets an unrivalled train on Stage 2 and only manages 4th. A stage win would be nice to see, but main target is a GC podium, so still going well for that.

Well, at least Posthuma is trying to make the team visible.
Oh, and were we riding on Bianchi bikes or is it just me?

Omloop Het Volk will be the first race where team's ride in their chosen bikes/wheels. Random bikes until then.

Given that Belkin/Lotto also switched Giant with Bianchi, Giant won't be very happy about this
