I pretty much think it's time for McQuaid to find a new job

UCI has now officially taken legal action against FFC and Jean Pitallier for betraying UCI and Eric Boyer for encouraging AIGCP's members to take part in an event which it is not legal for them to take part in. |

In the end, only Astana won't betray UCI for ASO and likes thanks to their permanent exclusion from their races. |

according to radsport-aktiv.de the CAS won't do anything in this conflict...
So if this race begins on Sunday, we will have 190 banned riders and 0 Pro-Tour Teams left...
Crazy. |

AIGCP teams (23 teams) voted about their participation in Paris-Nice. 15 yes, 8 didn't vote, 0 against.
Now McQuaid is trying to say that all teams didn't agree, that some are victims of the others that bullied them so that they don't respect UCI rules.
Sore loser... |

Random german diary whose name I can't remember right now says Sinkewitz has named Klöden and Kessler as guilty of blood doping. If this is true, I'm surprised Rogers wasn't named.

Apparently, British scientists have had a major breakthrough in the fight against drugs. They can determine between naturally occurring steroids and those injected

That's great. only two problems:
1. Cycling teams are mostly using growth hormone these days, which can't really be detected
2. It'll take a while before that test becomes official, as the test must be validated to make sure it's reliable.

1. Yep - but it least it's a small step towards a big aim
2. It'll be ready in 2012. In fact, it'll be ready for the 2012 Olympics

Hopefully it'll be ready much earlier than that. I mean c'mon, 4 years from now???

The great problem about all this is that new doping methods have been discovered at that time, thus making the test completely useless. |

yup, that's what I'm thinking. (I know I always say this, but if I always write everything I'm thinking about a subject my posts will turn into 15-line posts every time. and everybody skips past those )

At least it cuts out steroids, and forces them to pay more money to find new drugs.
But a 4 year wait is pretty pointless, they shouldn't announce these, they should add them on stealthily - it'll catch a lot of guys

Don't be that pessimistic guys. From all the last doping scandals that happened, one thing has become obvious : good old dopes are still used, in addition to the newest ones.
Vino making a homolog transfusion (1 chance on about 7 millions not to be caught), Heras used traditionnal EPO the day he was caught, steroids, corticoids, and such things are still used and widespread. It's a good thing they'll be able to find some more of those.
There's an interesting interview of Amael Moinard on cyclismag.com . It seems the ADAMS system (all riders have to give their whereabouts for out of competition controls) is having some effect. French teams riders feel more confortable riding in the peloton this year, even for Spanish races.
That's already what I was feeling when I saw Bouygues riders getting decent results here and there, Gilbert owning Het Volk, etc.
Though, usually the first time in the season where you can start seeing the allmighty supremacy of dopers is Paris-Nice. That's where the season really starts.
So we'll see, but it seems a bit cleaner this year. |

I'll believe it when I see Yohan Gené win Paris-Nice.
Since Kaggestad and McLeod have gone, Gené is now "the new kaggestad"
okay, so no drugs could ever make him win it, but I still don't trust any of the guys I might see winning P-N. Then again you never know at this stage in the season with everyone's form being up in the air.

Yeah, well, I never implied that the peloton was clean now, or that biggest races winners are clean.
Before getting an opinion about it, I'll wait for wattages calculations on the Ventoux and possibly other mountain finishs.
Though, from a nationalistic point of view, it can be expected to see the same as in 2002 or 2003, riders like Casar or Chavanel on or not too far from the podium.

Don't worry, I never said you implied any of that

The difference between this year and those two years of course being the lack of Vino dominating. Well maybe "lack" isn't the right word. I don't miss him.
