First, these comedy shows only show the people who are too stupid to be allowed to live. They don't show the 25 people before them who got the questions right because why? It's not funny if you get the questions right.
I'm an American and I've lived in several European and several Asian countries. I've found we don't have a monopoly on ignorant people. We might seem like we have more than others but then again we're also a hell of a lot bigger than most - more people and more space. In particular, the more space you have, the more people you'll tend to have who live in the middle of nowhere and don't have access to good school systems or care about it. Europeans tend to be more worldly than Americans because you're packed so tightly in with each other, it would be hard not to be worldly and you're lower income areas tend to not be as the same degree of lower income as ours (although I dare you go to the lower income towns surrounding Paris, for example, and see how well people can answer world trivia). On the other hand, if I start at the eastern border of texas and drive west at 65 miles per hour, 8 hours later I am still in Texas and I've passed very little along the way. You tend to be a little less worldly when you are so isolated.
For knowledge:
- Seen plenty of polls of European youth on knowledge of WWII, etc. with embarassing results.
- Right here in Korea which is one of the most well educated, modern, plugged-in nations in the world there is a shockingly large percentage of youth who know little about the most important event in the country's history: the Korean War.
For Racism:
- Jean Marie le Pen in France ring a bell?
- How about similar leadership in other European countries that has done well?
- Monkey noises at african players in football matches in Spain
- Racially motivated violence in Germany, Eastern Europe, Russia
Just for starters. Again, no country has a monopoly on stupidity. We do have more stupid people - we're bound to as we have more people period. |

Luis Aragones; calling THierry Henry "a black shit and Luis Hamilton incidents come to mind in spain. How about "Ethnic Cleansing" in the Balkans? The holacaust was in Europe, by Europeans.
If so many of you claim Armstong/Disco/Postal were all doped, as many of you have pointed out, the Americans were too smart to get caught. The argument that their riders get caught after leaving, then they went to a team with stupider dope doctors, right?

I usually don't comment on idiots that can't even spell PAPER right!!! And you think Americans are idiots??? I bet the majority can at least spell paper! And most of this "logic" you're basing it on is from beauty pageants. Yeah, that's a great place to look for the aspiring minds of a generation and country right there. As dave92 said, before you go looking at us and calling us stupid, look at yourselves. Not to get historic but look at your grand appeasement tactics that allowed Hitler to kill 11 million innocent people and countless others on battle fields. Let me know if you need me to define any of the words I used in this post for you.

Americans are not stupid, we're spoiled. We've gotten use to the easy life. Many under the age of 35 have never really had to worry about much. The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) made school easier for the stupid kids, and got rid of the dreaded paddle, the NAACP made black kids believe that they don't have to work and put something into life to get something back. The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) has made us as weak as our weakest link, and professional wrestling has made the white kids think that backyard wrestling matches are cool. Our lives here are overly influenced by the media and many have a hard time distinguishing fact from fiction, |

Nothing wrong with loving your country. To single out American's as stupid (when there is an indesputible history of smart people in the country, is as my collegue Stemple pointed out, Stupid.

Uh, well, let's say that the most famous American at the moment (George W Bush) seems a bit stupid at times (<- this is an euphemism) which doesn't help Americans, generally speaking, to look smart.
Add to that what happened in late 2002 and early 2003, about Frenchies and other cowards Europeans not going to war in Iraq, that really didn't help people being friendly with each other...
Hopefully this will change in a couple of months. |
