The race is soon to begin and as we are are participating just thought I would post the profile and start list.
The Profiles
As you can see it is probably the most Mountainous Stage race one could ever think of, the kind of race we dream of every night, but being HC it is far from a dream, in fact it's more like hell.
Startlist:
And this is why it is hell. See us in the bottom right corner? Yeah, we hardly exist, unnoticeable to other teams no doubt. In this race are guys from the World Tour who in the not so recent past have finished Top 5 and Top 10 if not better in the Grand Tours. Intxausti, Abal and Duarte to name a few. It will be hard for our riders but should be a great experience against such riders.

May Review
Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt
The 201km Eschborn-Frankfurt was our first one day classic in May and we had no expectations of a decent result so our riders were under no pressure at all.
Young Carlos Verona was in the days breakaway which meant we were at least seen.
The breakaway were going to win when the sprint was opened up. Go Verona Go!
And young Carlos Verona finishes 5th, great work from the young kid who has really started to prove himself to me and the management.
Vuelta a la Communidad de Madrid
A 174km climbing classic in Spain where we wanted to do well.
Sammy Sanchez got into the break of the day which is all the team did.
The race was won by Kulhavy of ONCE. Ruben Fernandez was our best rider in 27th which was extremely disappointing.
GP Onda-Boavista
One of our two C1 races this season. 150kms in Portugal and our sponsor ONDA wants us to do quite well so we shall see what we are able to achieve.
Moinard attacked along with Soler 50kms from the finish.
With 5kms to go Moinard and 3 others have a 50 second gap.
They were caught by a bunch of attacks and the sprint has opened up.
Chris Froome won for Quickstep but Moinard did well to hang onto 10th place, which in my mind fulfills our sponsors goal.
Manager's Comment:
With only 3 race days in the whole of May we feel as if we succeeded in two of them. A valiant 5th in Eschborn from Verona was our highlight and he is therefore the rider of the month for May. Moinard also did well and impressed our sponsors in Portugal with a Top 10. Hopefully we can continue these surprise results going into June.

The Euskaltel-Bavaria Team participated in 4 races during the month of June. Two one day races, a C2 stage race in South Africa and an HC classified stage race in Andorra.
Transfagarasan GP
The first race for us in June was the Romanian C2 mountainous one day classic. We sent what we thought was quite a strong team to see what they could achieve here.
We were doing a lot of work because of the fact that no one from our team joined the attacks.
And despite having many riders in the group chasing the finished 2 our positions in the peloton were disastrous.
17th for Parra Bustamante, 18th for Arredondo, 20th for Delio Fernandez and two others in the Top 30 was all we could get and with Fernandez being one of the top sprinters and after doing a lot of work we should have done a hell of a lot better in that finish. Very disappointing effort in the finale.
Giro del Capo
Stage 1 was won by a lone breakaway riders, Delio Fernandez was our best in 15th with the same time as the rest of the riders.
Stage 2 was another one for the sprinters. This time Delio Fernandez showed his ability finishing in a respectable 7th place.
Stage 3 would be a climbers stage and Fernandez was listed as one of the favourites but he was not the only rider we had who could do something on a stage like this.
Duenas got into the early breakaway.
Despite Duenas being up the road our tactical genius decided we should do the chasing.
5kms of the final climb to go and Moinard is the first to attacl.
They are caught near the top but Moinard attacks again.
It is going to come down to a sprint of 62 riders, Fernandez surely must be one of the favourites for the stage?
But with 100m to go it is Moinard again who surges forward.
And Amael Moinard wins the stage for the team after being very aggressive throughout the stage This moves him to 3rd in the GC, but with 3 stages to come.
Stage 4 would be more of a climbing stage than the previous stage and would be a GC stage.
Moinard joined the attacks late in the stage.
He would finish the stage in 7th position and drop to 5th in the GC. Duenas and Fernandez 10th and 11th in the GC at the moment.
Stage 5 was a 6km Mountain Time trial. A stage where time could be lost and gained and where our team should shine.
Colorado in Provisional 1st when he crosses the line.
Adamou finishes 1 second slowed but it is Jeannesson who beats Colorado's time to be in a new provisional 1st.
In the end Jeannesson finished 2nd on the stage by one measly second, Colorado 5th, Adamou 6th, Menchov 9th, Duenas 12th and Fernandez 15th. Only 1 stage to go now.
Stage 6 and Fernandez is one of the favourites again.
He attacks with 40kms to go and again with 13kms to go but he could not get away.
In the end, the breakaway took the stage. Moinard our best finisher in 14th.
And that concludes the Giro del Capo. Amaël Moinard finishes 5th in the GC which is a very good effort from him. Jeannesson in 11th, Duenas 13th and Fernandez 18th respectively. In the end a good race for the team with a stage win and 5th in the GC. A needed showing from the team in South Africa.
Tour d'Andorra
The Tour d'Andorra was one of the two HC Stage Races we would be in this season and we had no expectations there at all as the opposition was going to be very tough.
The team showed themselves on Stage 2 when Arredondo went into the breakaway, the break did not survive though.
On stage 3 Jeannesson showed his strength in the Mountains by finishing 15th.
Stage 4 was a 20km Mountain Time Trial but against such opposition we struggled and no one got into the Top 40.
On the final stage Jeannesson at least gave it a go but ended up finishing in 23 on the stage. He ended the Tour in 22nd in the GC which considering the quality of riders was not too bad an effort.
Rutas de America
A very flat 203km race in South America.
Sabido knew the break was our only chance.
And they came close to as he was swamped with 1km to go, he ended up in 27th.
June Comment: We knew this month would be tough. It didn't start out very well after all our effort we deserved much more in Romania but hey, that's cycling for you. In South Africa we gave a very good account of ourselves with a stage win, a truly incredible stage 5 and Moinard finishing 5th in the GC. Andorra was a good experience and Jeannesson toughed it out against the big guns of the PCT. Rutas de America went as expected but Sabido tried and that is good in itself.
Our rider of the Month for June was Amaël Moinard after his stage win in South Africa as well as finishing 5th in the GC and trying hard to finish even higher. Hopefully he can continue his good form in the races to come.

The month of July is arguably one of the team's busiest in the 2014 season with 4 Stage Races! and a hilly classic in between.
Tour de Pologne
The first race for us in July is the C2HC Tour de Pologne. We have set ourselves an unrealistic goal to finish in the Top 3 of the GC but we still hope to get a decent result during our week in Poland. The team is lead here by Fernandez and Jeannesson who will get able help from the rest of the team.
Race Profile
Team:
Delio Fernandez
Arnold Jeannesson
Moises Dueñas
Edwin Parra Bustamante
Rafael Infantino
Denis Menchov
Francisco Colorado
Tour d'Algerie
During Pologne we will also have 7 riders taking part in this year's Tour d'Algerie. It is supposed to be a 6 stage sprinters race but we are hoping to ride hard and attack during the first two stages to up the pace and decide the GC after the first two stages. We believe we will be able to with the likes of Moinard but it is whether or not we will actually do it, is yet to be seen. Last year it was won by a climber so the potential is there.
Race Profile
Team:
Amaël Moinard
Julian David Arredondo
Juan Sebastian Tamayo Martinez
Ruben Fernandez
Vassilis Adamou

Hugo Sabido
ACA CycleVanadzor
The one day race for the team is a hill classic in, if we remember correctly, Armenia. Moinard will lead the team here so it will either be him or the breakaway for us is we are to get a decent result, and we have many riders capable of a breakaway victory.

Tour de Slovenie
The 4 stage Tour de Slovenie is the third stage race for us in July. The first stage is a short TT while stages 2 and 3 should be deciding Mountainous stages. It is vital that we get a good GC here and maybe even a first GC win for the team. It is a lot to hope for but no point aiming low. Jeannesson leads the team is Slovenia with Parra Bustamante and Dueñas being his main helpers.

Tour d'Indonesia
Our final race of a packed July is the Tour of Indonesia. It is a hilly 5 stage race with a TT in the middle which will probably end up deciding the GC. Our two big riders attending will be Moinard and Arredondo. We are hoping the competition won't be too strong which will allow Moinard to get a high GC. The TT may be a chance for our young loanee to show off his ability.

Tour de Pologne
The opening stage of this year's Tour de Pologne was a hilly 176km stage where the team decided to stay anonymous as it finished in a sprint.
A flat 177km stage 2 saw the race again finish with a sprint.
But this time Delio Fernandez decided to get a bit more involved.
He finished 7th in the end in the sprint.
A challenging 226km stage greeted the riders on day 3 in Poland.
Edwin Parra Bustamante joined the days breakaway which was later caught.
Fernandez got himself involved in the sprint but he was outclassed and finished 8th.
165km and hilly.
Rafael Infantino joined the break of the day this time.
Nearing the finish and a leading group of 11, including the breakaway has a lead over the Peloton.
Bole, Infantino and Beltran leading the group under the red kite.
And Bole, who is a much better sprinter, wins the stage while Infantino does well to finish in 2nd place.
He is 4th in the KOM, only 4 points behind the leader. Delio Fernandez is in 11th in the GC.
Came down to a sprint and our riders didn't get involved. Infantino still 4th in the KOM and Fernandez in 13th in the GC.
The Penultimate stage 6 saw 15 climbs in 191km.
Infantino was not scared and joined the breakaway to go for the KOM.
He was in a great battle and at a stage was only 2 points behind the new leader.
Infantino now takes the KOM lead.
Fernandez finished 9th on the stage.
Fernandez now 15th in the GC which is not good, Infantino leads the KOM by 18 points going into the final stage.
Infantino secures his jersey early on.
Fernandez actually joined the attacks today
He finished the stage in 10th place.
Overall: Delio Fernandez finishes the Tour de Pologne in 11th which is far behind our goal of a Top 3 but that was never going to be possible here. A decent effort from him. Rafael Infantino showing the fighting spirit by winning the KOM classification by 20 points, a good margin after an impressive performance. A slightly disappointing race and we only scored alright points thanks to the KOM.

A few plans have been thrown around a room in Bilbao at the team HQ. Some sponsors have been left rather unhappy but that is just how it has to go. Following the recent good performances from the team we managed to attract the attention of another large sponsor inside Europe.
The sponsor is:
Yes that is correct. In 2015 and preferably for seasons to come the team will be sponsored by both Euskaltel and Air France. This means that both Bavaria and Onda have lost their sponsorship deals with the team. The new team name will be Euskaltel-Air France.
In terms of riders for the 2015 season this means that the team will become primarily Spanish and French. We have two french riders in Moinard and Jeannesson in the team already and hope to add to that in the off season. We will still have some riders from other countries but we are hoping to make it so our leaders and stronger riders are from one of our two focus nations.
This is all for now and we shall update you with results from Algeria, Armenia and Slovenia in the near future.

Tour d'Algerie- Victory
Pre Race Comment: This year's Tour d'Algerie contains 6 stages. The first stage is the only one where a breakaway from one of our riders has a realistic chance. All the favourites for the race are sprinters but we shall see what we can do.
Stage 1
The toughest stage of the race is the very first stage with a large Category 1 climb in the middle of the stage.
Ruben Fernandez went on the early attack with Zamri and Sirionnachai.
12km to go and the gap for Fernandez and Zamri is a minute. The strong winds proving to be a problem back in the Peloton.
6km to go and the gap is back out to 2'20.
Only a few kilometres to go and Fernandez has dropped Zamri and is on his own.
And Fernandez takes the stage win! A tremendous effort as he beats Zamri by 39 seconds and the Peloton by 1'56. The first time one of our riders is in the leader's jersey
Stage 2
Slightly easier stage but still worse than the flat stages to come. Sprinters are the favourites here.
The team did great work to ensure that a breakaway never formed and that it would come down to a bunch sprint.
And Fernandez easily retains the yellow jersey. Sabido meanwhile with 2 bonus seconds finds himself in 11th.
Stage 3
Came down to another bunch sprint as the team and the Peloton easily took control of the stage.
Stage 4
Another sprinters stage.
The break is caught with 17km to go due to the high pace from ONCE and Flether-Garneau.
4km to go and as you can see we have a whole lot of riders close to the front looking after Fernandez.
The stage is won by Forero with Tamayo Martinez in 10th, Arredondo 11th, Fernandez 13th and Sabido 14th.
Stage 5
The stage is won by the breakaway but none of them threatened our overall lead so it was smart riding from the team.
Stage 6
The final stage and we decided to take the early control by doing the chasing and ensuring a calm pace throughout the Peloton.
2.5kms to go and you can see at the bottom that Fernandez is being protected by one of our riders.
The stage is won by ONCE rider Marco Guillén.
And this means that Ruben Fernandez has won the Tour d'Algerie by a comfortable margin of 41 seconds to Zamri and 1'44 to Guillén! Sabido also does well to finish in 11th in the GC.
In the Points Fernandez finishes down in 7th. In the KOM Fernandez finished 2nd, Sammy Sanchez 3rd, Arredondo 5th, Martinez 7th and Adamou 8th. Fernandez also wins the Youth classification with Adamou in 8th. And we also won the team's classification by a good 39 seconds.
Overall Comment: What a fantastic race for the Euskaltel-Bavaria team. Young Ruben Fernandez showing what he can do by winning stage 1 from the breakaway and then the rest of the team doing their job protecting him and his lead all the way until the end. A great effort from the team and our first ever GC win We leave Algeria in fantastic form after scoring over 200 points in the 6 race days.

As the final races in July come to a close we preview the month of August. The Orange boys of the Euskaltel-Bavaria Team will be racing in three stage races during this month. In July the team performed very well but we are predicting a harder time in at least two of the upcoming races.
Vuelta a Burgos
We open our August with a 5 stage race in our home country. This C2 race should be a bit easier than our other two races and so we expect a good result here from our riders. The first stage should be a sprinters stage. The second has a slight uphill finish. Anything could happen on stage 3. The 4th stage is a TT and this is where we hope our riders do not lose too much ground and if it is a bit hilly we could even make gains. The deciding stage should be the 5th and final stage. Rated as Mountainous this 165km stage has an ugly climb before the finish before a steep finishing climb. We are hoping that our riders attack a lot on all the stages but in particular on the final stage. We send Delio Fernandez as our leader and hopefully Parra Bustamante and Dueñas can support and do something for themselves as well. Adamou and Menchov are proven attackers so hopefully they can spice the race up a bit.
Race Profile
Team:
Delio Fernandez
Moises Dueñas
Edwin Parra Bustamante
Vassilis Adamou
Denis Menchov
Francisco Colorado
Haritz Orbe
Volta a Portugal
The second of our two HC classified races is another climbers race where an extremely strong field is expected. Some may say it wastes our race days because we have no riders going for the GC but we hope for aggressive riding which will hopefully result in a good KOM battle and a dream would be a stage win which in the break could be possible due to the length of the race. With 1 TT, 1 prologue and many hilly and mountainous stages this should be good for the likes of Arredondo, Martinez, Infantino and R.Fernandez. These 4 will be our co-leaders and hopefully will be our most active in the breakaways and attacks throughout the 11 days in Portugal.
Race Profile
Team:
Julian David Arredondo
Juan Sebastian Tamayo Martinez
Rafael Infantino
Ruben Fernandez
Samuel Sánchez Gonzalez
Hugo Sabido
Carlos Verona
Juan Jose Lobato
Tour d'Azerbaijan
The 5 stage Tour d'Azerbaijan is the only C2HC race for the team in August and although a strong field is expected the team needs a good result. We set a goal of winning this race which seems very unlikely but hopefully we can ride hard, attack aggressively and maybe a good result will be given to us. Stage 1 is an 18km TT where we need to limit our losses to the stronger GC riders. Stage 2 is mountainous but finishes 15km or so after a Category 1 Climb. Stages 3 and 4 are both Mountainous and have steep finishing climbs. Stage 5 is a circuit which will probably be won by the breakaway. Jeannesson and Delio Fernandez will lead the team here with Dueñas and Parra Bustamante as the most able helpers. The line up is similar to Burgos except Jeannesson replaces Orbe.

Wins, Wins Everywhere!
Following good riding from Delio Fernandez in the Tour de Pologne and a GC win from Ruben in the Tour d'Algerie we now catch you up on the remainder of July.
Tour de Slovenie
The 4 stage C2 Tour de Slovenie would see Arnold Jeannesson leading the team with more than capable help.
Stage 1
A 6.3km TT/Prologue.
Parra Bustamante put in a good effort early on to finish the stage in 11th place.
Adamou failed to get coverage but finished in 5th with the same time as 3rd place.
Stage 2
Stage 2 was 170kms and expected to be a sprinters stage where our team would achieve nothing.
With 1km to go it would come down to a sprint.
100m to go and suddenly Jeannesson appears out of nowhere and he is moving fast!
And Jeannesson 'finishes like a rocket' to win the stage and claim a surprising sprint victory for the team
Stage 3
22kms with two hard climbs. Jeannesson is named as one of the 5 favourites for the stage.
10km to go and Jeannesson heads the second group on the road 28 seconds behind lone leader Martinez.
Martinez and Rodrigues in front of the group who have been caught by Arroyo.
Comfortable win for Martinez.
Jeannesson finishes 4th on the stage while Parra Bustmante finishes 10th.
Stage 4
The 4th and final stage was another sprinters stage at 111kms in length and very flat.
We did nothing as Valencia won from the breakaway.
Overall Comment: Jeannesson with his first good performance of the season, up till now he has been rather disappointing but it seems as though after hearing about the team becoming more French he became motivated to show us what he is worth. A stage win and 4th in the GC for him. Parra Bustamante finished 9th in the GC which is not bad.
Tour d'Indonesia
The 5 stage C2 race would be our final race in the month of July. The first three stages should be the deciders here.
Stage 1
123kms and slightly hilly.
Haritz Orbe joined the break of the day.
Orbe did well to be the last one caught with not very far to go.
Marentes wins the stage while Moinard and Sanchez finish 8th and 12th.
Stage 2
The hardest stage of the race at 134.5kms and attacks would be needed to prevent a TT rider winning the GC.
Arredondo attacks out of the Peloton on the 4th climb and caught the breakaway on the hardest Cat 3 climb.
16kms to go and Arredondo has a 1 minute lead to Di Gregorio and Geschke.
10km to go and his lead is out to 1'36 over a 4 man chasing group.
On the final climb and his lead is 1'40.
3km to go and the peloton trails him by 3 minutes and attacks are launched by riders, including Moinard.
Arredondo takes his first stage win for the team with a lead of 1'26 over the 2nd place rider, this sees him move into a quite comfortable GC lead.
Moinard manages to finish 6th just ahead of the peloton.
Stage 3
Stage 3 was a 28km TT where Arredondo couldn't lose too much time but luckily his closest rivals were as bad as him at this discipline.
Zoidl would be the most dangerous to Arredondo's lead.
And Arredondo finishes 2'47 behind stage winner Stannard, but does enough to hold onto the GC lead and is now 42 seconds ahead of Zoidl. Now to hold on in two flat stages.
Stage 4
Flat and should be won by a hilly sprinter.
Some breakaway rider wins but he is far behind in the GC.
Arredondo finished 10th and easily retains his lead (this is Geschke finishing 5th).
Stage 5
One final stage to defend the jersey. 139km and flat rated.
Geschke took the stage win from the sprint but Arredondo finished 5th.
Overall Comment: And that means he wins the Tour d'Indonesia which makes it 2 GC wins in our last three stage races. Life is going well in Bilbao for the team management at the moment. Moinard finishes 12th in the GC with Sammy Sanchez in 20th. Arredondo also finishes 3rd in the Points and KOM. Young Orbe finishes 3rd in the U25 and we take the Team's classification by a mere 11 seconds.
July Comment: Well, what can I say? Thanks for the support the team is receiving especially from the managers of the Oz Cycling Project and Team CSC-Orbea.

Congrats on your fantastic month. Very rare that a team can turn itself around from near-bottom to Top 10 and possible promotion chance, in just 1 month, after having already done half of the season.

We thought after such a great month that we should share with our fans what this months achievements have done for the team.
Up till the end of June we had been consistently been sitting around 20th in the rankings which was very disappointing but now all of that has changed.
Jaguar's Manager put it very well, "It is very rare that a team can turn itself around from near-bottom to Top 10 and possible promotion chance, in just 1 month". But we did it! We scored a massive 521 points in 24 race days in July which took us from 21st with 494 points to 9th with 1015 points. A massive turn around of fortunes for our riders and the team.
We are now not very far off the Top 5 in 9th place but there are many teams not far behind us who will want to no doubt finish higher that where they are at the moment. In fact 7th to 13th is separated by less than 150 points!
But the Points Per Race Day Projections give a clearer understanding of where teams are at because it evens out the number of race days that teams have had so far.
In this we sit in 6th place with a PPRD of 9.312, if we finish 6th we give ourselves a massive shot at promotion because of disbandoned teams in the divisions above. Last month promotion was not even a dream but now we are really keen to promote and ride in the PCT. Our sponsors will give us more money to bring in better riders as well which excites all of the management.

July Rider of the Month
We decided that we could not simply give this to one rider so therefore both Ruben Fernandez and Julian David Arredondo get the award for July. Both taking their respective GC wins in Indonesia and Algeria this is thoroughly deserved. And of course they couldn't have done it without the rest of the team.

With all the racing action the team is in at the moment we feel it is the right time to present to our fans our Jersey for next season.
It was made by last years creator Jakstar22 who we feel has done a fantastic job managing to include our new sponsor as well as keeping the jersey as Orange as possible to represent the Euskaltel history of the team. We look forward to seeing it in action next season.

Looks classy.
Hmm, France as second focus? We might be clashing at some point then, depending what TomTom will do

You can't have Bardet or Soupe! Very nice jersey, very simple, very crisp and still very orange!

Another great jersey by Jakstar22. And I see I have forced you to look outside of the Spanish market.

Vuelta a Burgos Review
The 5 stage C2 classified Vuelta a Burgos would be a good challenge for Delio Fernandez and the team and we needed to continue our good form.
Stage 1
The first stage was expected to be a sprinters stage with Fernandez as one of the favourites.
Orbe was one of the two breakaway riders.
The breakaway is caught with 9kms remaining.
Fernandez in a good position with 1km to go.
And Fernandez runs out of power to finish 7th with Hansen (Evonik) taking the win.
Stage 2
The same favourites which means Fernandez should get a good result.
The break is caught with 27kms to go.
Not far to go and Fernandez in a decent position.
The sprint is on now on this tough hill.
Rodrigues takes the win for Siam.
Fernandez finished in 4th place only just behind the bonus seconds. He is 4th in the Points and 9th in the GC.
Stage 3
More hills, same favourites so hopefully Fernandez can deliver.
11kms to go and the break is caught, we have a few riders near the front.
2100m to go and Fernandez is in a better position that the last two days.
1km to go and Fernandez is mixing it up at the front.
600m to go and Fernandez is just in front.
Will he do it?!?
Yes he will! He takes the stage win which is his first this season and takes the much needed bonus seconds. He moves to 3rd in the GC and 2nd in Points but the next stage is a TT.
Stage 4
Orbe in 4th in the GC and in the Youth Jersey gets him TV coverage because of his breakaway bonus seconds on stage 1.
And Fernandez doesn't lose too much time but does drop down to 12th with the final Mountain stage to come.
Stage 5
And the decisive final stage. None of our riders are favourites.
Menchov is in the breakaway and is the best placed rider but needs almost 3 minutes.
It is all back together with 11kms to go.
Fernandez follows the attack of Castano.
But he can't hold onto the stronger climber and finds himself in a group of 3.
Arroyo wins the stage and the race.
Fernandez finishes 6th on the stage.
Overall Comment: Delio Fernandez finally took a stage win and finished 6th in the Overall GC, Parra Bustamante, Duenas and Colorado finished 9th, 12th and 14th. Fernandez also won the Points classification making it a successful race. We scored at well over 15 PPRD which means we continue our very good form going into the Volta a Portugal.
