Really happy that Christoff Van Heerden found his way back home to South Africa. That`s why I released him instead of renewed and traded.
2 good years he had for my team. |

Good luck in Africa Maksimov...
Interest project you have here aidanvn13. We will be cheering on the Russian Rocket in all the stages Ventoso isn't present. Which, if you're any good at planning, should never ever ever ever happen.

Thanks for that! Happy that I could pick him up without hassles. Should be a handy lead out

Thanks! Although I don't have the ideal roster, I'll definitely be able to build on it for next season.
Don't worry - I don't think Ventoso and Maksimov will be racing side-by-side that often

Wildcard signing V2! Although he loves going uphill, strangely he hates going up small hills - apparently bigger is better! To be honest, we don't know what to expect from him. Whilst on a rocket wage we hope that he can be our saving grace and help avoid relegation. He will surely leave after 2014 to a more suitable home!

Our last signing comes all the way from Mexico. He seems an interesting character as he can climb quite well for a sprinter! We're looking forward to seeing how he handles the stages other sprinters find a bit tough. He has agreed on a one year deal, so he'll most likely be moving end of 2014 to make way for more Africans!

@bwiggins: Nice to see some support from outside the Man-Game! Thank you so much, appreciate the kind words. I've signed a few foreigners this year, but if I can stay in PCT then I'll have a very good base for a fully African team. #Voorentoe
We have acquired the final signature for 2014. We welcome 24 year-old Songezo Jim. We believe he still has potential to develop and will continue to do so in the next few years to eventually become a solid climber.

Final Roster Announced
It is with great excitement that we bring to you our roster for the 2014! It was a rather bitter-sweet season as we were unable to sign Juan van Heerden as we simply did not have the funds and were outbid by Aker-MOT. However, we managed to secure some decent African talent in the process. Our main goal is to avoid relegation and manage to stay afloat in the PCT division. Next year we will be chasing after the big guns in African cycling: Van Heerden, Impey, Hoffman and Craven!

Part 1/4
"The Foreigners"
__________________________________________________________
Mikayil Krasnoperov | "The Enforcer"
The Name: Mikayil earned his nickname of "The Enforcer" after he enjoyed a year-long career as an "enforcer" for the Ukranian Mafia in Lviv. Unfortunately, Mikayil faces assualt with the intent of bodily harm, assualt with a deadly weapon, aggravated assualt and vehicular assualt charges back in Ukraine - this explains why he was unable to sign with a Ukrainian-based team and sought refuge in South Africa.
The Role: Mikayil only likes one thing: going uphill. Not just any hill, but big, long hills - and he's very good at what he likes. He'll lead us at all mountainous stage races, like the Tour d'Andorra.
__________________________________________________________
Saulo Lay | "El Bigote"
The Name: One will be forgiven for mistaking the super-cool Saulo Lay as a sly drug lord living in a Playboy mansion, but he's in fact none other than a sly sprinter living in a Playboy mansion. Rumour has it that he was born with his record-holding, weight lifting 'stache ("bigote").
The Role: Saulo will receive ample opportunity to put his speed to the test against the division's best, but his most important role will be leading out none-other than "The Russian Bear"...
__________________________________________________________
Roman Maksimov | "The Russian Bear"
The Name: You might think that Maksimov earned his name because of his bear-like tenacity and ferocity on the bike, but that's not the case... In fact, it's derived from his favourite beverage, "Russian Bear Vodka", or as he likes to call it, "the fountain of youth". It's a nasty habit he hasn't been able to kick since the age of 7 and continues to insist that his race bidons are filled up with it.
The Role: Roman is tasked with completing 4/5 of the team goals: all of them pan-flat sprint races. He'll be our absolute leader in all pancake flat race because he's pretty much useless everywhere else. Of course, he does just what he feels like doing...
__________________________________________________________
Héctor Hugo Rangel | "Nacho"
The Name: Rumour has it Héctor earned this name after bringing a legendary Mexican kingpin crying to his knees with nothing but his bare hands... and a bowl of homemade nachos.
The Role: Héctor is tasked with also forming part of Maksimov's lead-out train, but will definitely be given his chance to shine in sprint stages that have a fair bit of climbing. Expect to see him present in his home race, Circulo de Juarez.
__________________________________________________________
Francisco José Terciado | "Chili"
The Name: Francisco once attempted breaking the world chlli-eating record after winning a regional event in Spain. Unlucky for him, his first chili experience left him with a severe case of "burning ring of fire" and was forced to retire from the sport.
The Role: Despite not being a jack of all trades, Francisco is a strong pillar of support when the road tilts upwards. He's been drafted in to support Krasnoperov and Augustyn in the mountains.

You've effectively changed Maksimov's nickname
baseballlover312, 06-03-14 : "Nuke Moscow...Don't worry Russia, we've got plenty of love to go around your cities"
Sarah Palin, 08-03-14 (CPAC, on Russian aggression) : "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke"
Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

Part 2/4
"The Africans"
__________________________________________________________
| Cherif Abdallah |
FL | MO | HL | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 68 | 56 | 63 | 57 | 73 | 62 | 72 | 57 | 78 | 76 | 56 | 64 | 57 |
The Role: Cherif served the team well last year as our main sprinter and managed to rack up some good results. This year his main job will be to lead out our other fast men, mostly "The Russian Bear" and Saulo Lay.__________________________________________________________
| Abdalla Ben Youcef |
FL | MO | HL | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 68 | 55 | 61 | 66 | 70 | 64 | 67 | 54 | 75 | 76 | 71 | 67 | 69 |
The Role: Abdalla Ben Youcef still has some space to develop, but unfortunately couldn't find a space on a PT team. However, this year he'll be working as a lead-out for other sprinters.__________________________________________________________
| Gasore Hategeka |
FL | MO | HL | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 68 | 72 | 77 | 66 | 74 | 69 | 68 | 56 | 62 | 66 | 70 | 66 | 65 |
The Role: The team doesn't have many contenders for the hilly terrain, but we hope with the addition of this interesting Rwandan puncheur that we'll be able to score a few top 10s in hilly classics.__________________________________________________________
| Yves Ngue Ngock |
FL | MO | HL | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 70 | 69 | 74 | 63 | 72 | 69 | 71 | 64 | 67 | 68 | 70 | 69 | 63 |
The Role: Yves lead the team in the hills last year and managed some great results including 2 Young Riders jerseys and 2 GC podiums. This year he'll try his luck in breaks as well as supporting Gasore Hategeka.__________________________________________________________
| Adrien Niyonshuti |
FL | MO | HL | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 68 | 75 | 73 | 63 | 73 | 72 | 70 | 56 | 66 | 67 | 68 | 61 | 63 |
The Role: Adrien is an exciting Rwandan stalwart who will offer strong support to our leader, John-Lee Augustyn. However, in the Vuelta a Tachira he'll receive a free role for breakaways.__________________________________________________________
| Meron Russom |
FL | MO | HL | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 68 | 74 | 72 | 70 | 74 | 69 | 69 | 59 | 62 | 62 | 67 | 65 | 70 |
The Role: Although he's still got room for development, we've chosen to keep Meron as a domestique in the mountains as well as the team time trials.__________________________________________________________

Update: What's happening at Project: Africa?
Due to time constraints news updates have been scarce, but hopefully this update will serve to change that. Here you'll find snippets of news to update you on the latest happenings. Shortly after that will follow a preview for February!
__________________________________________________________
Full Squad Announcement
The entire squad has been announced before racing started. Unfortunately, Krasnoperov was removed due a technicality. Augustyn takes over full reigns and Maksimov leads us on the sprinting front. Check it out on our first page!
__________________________________________________________
Calendar Finalised
Our entire calendar has also been finalised which will be revealed shortly. The team will be seen at various flat classics, stage races and absolutely at no cobbles!
__________________________________________________________
First Race: Goal Achieved!
Our inaugural race in the PCT peloton was the Down Under Classic in Australia. Packed with one of the best PCT sprinter fields in history, we were up against some really tough competition. Maksimov put in a sterling sprint to come from nowhere and grab a 4th place finish, fulfilling our goal of a top 5!
__________________________________________________________
Next you can expect to see our full calendar and followed by that will be our preview for racing in February!
