Nice win for De Gendt there, though it was really close
Just stay 2nd GC overall, that's fine, no need to beat Kelderman

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 3
Welcome to the third stage, starting in Norwood. The whole stage is pretty flat with just one little uphill section 8 kilometres before the stage ends. We are pretty curious, if someone is starting an attack there. Hopefully Meersman or Renshaw can improve our results in Down Under.
Again a little group got away from the pack including some interesting guys. Sutherland (Tinkoff - Saxo), Wynants (Belkin Pro Cycling Team), Vorganov (Katusha), Minard (AG2R La Mondiale), Wurf (Cannondale).
With only 9 kilometres to go, the small group was still in front while the whole pack was coming very fast from behind. Anyway Vorganov started an attack on the climb with success as no one of his companions were able to follow.
Vorganov was in front with only 5 kilometres left. Some of the favourites for the overall classification made a move on top of the little climb. Clarke, Gavazzi, Nocentini, Ulissi and our leader Meersman were in it. But the gap to Vorganov was still over 40 seconds.
The sprint of the chasing group was underway, Meersman was fast, but too far behind Gavazzi and Ulissi. Can he still pass them?
Vorganov took the stage win after an impressive solo ride on the last kilometres. But who is going to complete the podium?
Unfortunately it´s not Meersman. Ulissi finished 2nd in front of Nocentini. Gianni Meersman got a nice 5th place in the end. After all, we are happy with that stage.

Tour de San Luis Stage 5
After some good stages for our team in Argentina, we are expecting another big stage today. Expecially the climbers will be happy with that stage. The Cerro el Amago is the hardest climb of this tour. Surely, there will be many attacks and also Thomas De Gendt is going to try everything to take the leader´s jersey from Kelderman.
The biggest break of this tour with 6 riders did a great job. The pack had to work a lot to reduce the gap. Erviti (Movistar), Oss (BMC Racing Team), Puccio (Sky), Orjuela (4-72 - Colombia), Veuchelen (Wanty - Groupe Gobert) and De Serafino (Androni Giocattoli) took part in this group.
Dario Cataldo made the first move on the big climb. Thomas De Gendt was able to follow him quickly. Good move by our team captain. The break was still in front but their gap was melting a lot.
Wilco Kelderman had no problem to counter Cataldo´s attack. Nerz and Visconti were on his wheel, too. This climb was incredible steep.
There were only a few climbing metres left, when De Gendt lost the contact to Kelderman, Cataldo and Nerz. That speed was just unbelievable. Visconti and Siutsou were following De Gendt.
Even on the downhill section, there was no chance to get back to the leading group. Thomas De Gendt had to do all the work, Visconti and Siutsou did nothing, to bring us back to Kelderman.
Herrara joined our group on the last kilometres but it was still up to Thomas to catch the leading group with only 1 kilometre left.
Another impressive stage win by Kelderman in front of Cataldo and Nerz. Pretty close sprint in the end. Seems like Wilco Kelderman is unbeatable in Argentina.
De Gendt finished in 6th position. He was completely exhausted from all the leading work. Shame on his companions, for not helping him. We lost 59 seconds to Kelderman, Cataldo and Nerz, which means Thomas De Gendt is now 4th overall.
Stage results
1 | Wilco Kelderman | Belkin Pro Cycling Team | 3h58'09 | 2 | Dario Cataldo | Team Sky | s.t. | 3 | Dominik Nerz | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 4 | Kanstantsin Siutsou | Team Sky | + 59 | 5 | Giovanni Visconti | Movistar Team | s.t. | 6 | Thomas De Gendt | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | s.t. | 7 | José Herrada | Movistar Team | s.t. | 8 | Eduardo Sepulveda | Bretagne - Séché Environnement | + 3'51 | 9 | Davide Malacarne | Team Europcar | s.t. | 10 | Stefan Denifl | IAM Cycling | s.t. |

Well, despite all effort De Gendt had to do, it was a good finish by him... unfortunally the others didn´t helped, imagine if De Gendt had made the same.. .. way more then 59" would be lost... again, good finish and good 4th overall.

baia - Thank you! De Gendt had to wait for the last water bottle at the top of the climb. The gap grew up to 50 seconds in these moments! Before that, the gap was about 13 seconds or something like that. There you can see, that no one was working except Thomas.
sutty68 - Thanks a lot, hopefully we can get back on the podium!
VoetsT - Unfortunately Kelderman was too strong again |

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 4
After a nice 5th place by Meersman, we are pretty optimistic for the upcoming stages. Today is a quite flat stage with a good chance for all those pure sprinters such as our man Mark Renshaw.
A pretty boring stage so far until the last 5 kilometres were reached. The sprinting teams had already built their trains, except Omega Pharma - Quick-Step. Again our sprint preperation was pretty horrible. Only Meersman was able to bring Renshaw in a good position but then he lost the slipstream of Team Sky and Renshaw was on his own!
Anyway, Mark Renshaw was able to come back. When he saw Gavazzi coming to the front, he took his wheel and the whole sprint began with Rowe pulling it for Ben Swift.
No chance for Ben Swift to stay in front, when Gavazzi made his final move. Mark Renshaw was still in his slipstream with only a few metres to go.
That´s it! The first stage win in Australia for our team. Renshaw won the final sprint in a close decision. Gavazzi took another podium and is still wearing the leader´s jersey. Mark Renshaw climbs to a great 3rd overall position. Great stage for Omega Pharma - Quick-Step since Meersman finished in 6th position!
