Katusha armada lost 1st place? how is this possible? One of many Katusha riders in top10 must do something.. or will be a big fail..

Shonak - Sorry, i swear it will not be repeated!
Jakstar22 - Indeed, thanks. I hope so!
baia - Sad, but true. And indeed, our target is at least 1 guy on podium at the end of the race. I still think we can achieve that easily.

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 5
It's decisive stage. We'll try to win this stage and get at least 1 guy on podium at GC if that's possible somehow.
Big 8guys breakaway group was created from an early start. Once again, we didn't have any of our guys in it. We'll need energy from every rider.
As you could see from stage profile, terrain is pan flat until last 20 kilometers. Peloton didn't have any problems with catching breakaway and now we have 1 compact group, once again. Somewhere in middle of hill Vichot (FDJ) attacked. He's one of favourites and we need to follow that!
It seems like he's in great form. He quickly got advantage. Meanwhile, 50 seconds behind him , Slagter (Belkin) , Ulissi (Lampre) and Kolobnev are trying to catch him. It's not looking good for us!
Arthur seemed unbeatable. He got even bigger advantage on downhill and it's now clear that he's going to win this stage and GC probably.
And just as i said, he did that. Vichot (FDJ) won 5th stage of TDU!
And 46 seconds behind him, with a clearly visible pain on his face, Kolobnev is crossing white finish line. What an exhausting stage!

I now realize you are playing on the correct difficulty.

Vichot very strong on that stage, but still a much deserved second place overall for Kolobnev and overall a real great start to the season.
btw: Good day for Ion Izagirre, triumphing in Pellizotti's La Pomme Marseille story and getting 3rd overall here.

All - Thanks for really big support, that, to be honest, i didn't expect. I really feels like i can do at least one season with this team. As baia said in one of first posts, i just feels like this is the one story that can keep me motivated for longer time.
Selwink - 2nd and 4th is great , if you ask me. You just got used to 1-2-3 , so it's quite bad after that.
547984 - Haha, i just wanted to show that and i let Vichot win this, on purpose. It would be too dominant if i won this stage aswell.
sutty68- Indeed. Thanks for big support Mr.Sutty!
Shonak - True story, mate. And yeah, Izagirre is really doing great. Will tell you now a little secret, but pssst:
Spoiler Izagirre is on our shortlist this season. We can see him as replacement for Rodriguez, since Purito is getting too old to compete with other ProTour guys.
Ian Butler - Yup! Thanks for following/commenting mate.
baia - As i previously said, it's great result for us. Katusha should be on TOP of UWT rankings this month, since we had great overall performance in TDU.

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 6
After few exhausting stages, the last one will be sprinting stage. Our leader/sprinter is Porsev of course, and we're going to focus on his good result today, since GC is less likely to change.
7 guys started an early breakaway, just from start of the stage. Losada is one of them.
And as it was "planned" , guys at front got caught somewhere near 10kms banner. It's on sprint trains and sprinters now.
We decided to start a Kolobnev - Vicioso - Porsev train. We were at top of the peloton , shoulder to shoulder with OPQS guys.
Alexandr and Angel did great job with leadout and it was on Porsev now. Porsev was blocked for a long time and Impey used that chance. He won.
However, our guys had great day. Check that out below, in results bar.

Another nice finish by Porsev. Orica - GreenEdge show at last their quality in their home race too.
@Izagirre:
Spoiler It would be a cool transfer, but I doubt that Ion Izagirre will be capable of replacing Rodriguez.

Good finish.. Izagirre can develop good but coming to the point to substitute Purito, only with stats change...

Three in the first seven was a nice way to end the teams time in Australia
And Alexandr rode well to grab the runners up spot |

Shonak - Well, Impey is just unbeatable at this last stage (he wins in my 3rd career in a row at last stage of TDU). And about Izagirre, somehow he has really great potential and high stats-lim in my database. I edited PCMdaily Expansion Pack when i installed it , so i think Ion was one of the riders that got stat changes.
krisa - Indeed, thanks.
baia - Thanks. And read about Izagirre above.
atlanta - Yep, we really did good. All of these Top10 results should bring us to top of WT rankings at the end of January. More about it in next report.
sutty68 - Yep, but 1-2-3-4 would be much better.
And yes, Alexandr really rode well , but as i said he got blocked and could not fight for 1st place. This is great result, aswell.

Since Santos Tour Down Under is finished and we don't have any more races in this month, it's January Review time.
Rankings:
As you could see from great results in Australia , it was great month for Katusha. Multiple Top10 and podium places, 2 stage wins were enough for total domination in every part of rankings. So let's check out CQ Rankings in both, individual and team part.
First in Team and 3 guys in Top10 in Individual rankings are some great achievements for our team. We really hope we can continue like this.
Monthly News:
Few big news this month in cycling world, but we're going to focus on news about our team.
Paolini finishes his career:
Most important one is that Luca Paolini decided to finish his career. In open interview he said: "It's enough. I really feel tired of all of these and i want to focus on my family now. Big thanks to everyone that supported me throught all of these years, especially Katusha Team, but it's the end now."
Katusha scouts works hard:
On another side, better news are that our scouts started working and found 2 great guys to follow. Their names are (well known) Denis Galimzyanov and Matvey Zubov. Both of them are sprint specialist and would be great addition to team.
Galimzyanov is ex-Katusha rider. He got positive on doping test in 2012 and he'll be back to cycling at April of 2014 year. However, we decided to follow him and sign him as stagiare in 2014.
Zubov is young talent from Itera school and he'll most likely finish in first team at the end of this season. He's not so dominant yet, but he has great potential to become solid sprinter.

Both Galimzyanov and Zubov will be great additions to the squad |
