cunego59 - Yeah, I must admit it was one of the nicest victories in my PCM history. I never saw it coming up until the final meters! 66 sprinter against 78 sprinter as Modolo. Indeed a decent way to start a career. That's 'chess' to Caleb Ewan, your turn
sutty68 - Couldn't have asked for a better start
welker3257 - Thanks for the bananas
The Hobbit - I'm with you. Not really sure how Modolo blew that perfect chance for him, but he did it
Thanks for the support! I'm a little behind schedule so if I'll play the next stage, it'll be much later today or one of the next days!

Hi!
Your good friend Henry here! Today was the day in yellow for me, let's see how it was!
Tour Méditerranéen - Stage 2 It's a time trial, but a vicious one. The first 22 kilometers are flat, pan cake flat. But the final 2 kilometer will decide how high up you finish. With percentages up to 20%, only those who have saved some energy will have a chance of getting up there alive.
Plan of the Day: I'll put everything on a good climb, so I'll save enough energy for the final 2 kilometers!
The Race
"Are you ready?" They asked me. How could I be ready, I wondered. I'm about to march straight into my death in a time trial. At least give me a chance to defend my yellow jersey in a good old battle in the mountains. Of course I wasn't ready.
But I was away nonetheless. Gone for about 38 minutes with just me and my bike. Well, 38 minutes was my goal, if I could make that, it'd be a successful time trial, said the DS. But who are we kidding? Saving yellow will be a success, the rest is nothing now.
I can't say my time trial was bad. I mean it is only still my second time trial. But it wasn't good, either
The audience was just amazing. I've never seen anything quite like it. There were people cheering, shouting my name, taking pictures. I even saw a fat guy with a T-shirt with my face on it. Thanks for coming, dad!
I enjoyed my day in yellow, though. My legs were burning, but I was loving it. This is why I became a cyclist. I was putting my body to the ultimate test, trying out its limits! I felt like a gladiator.
The final climb was a death trap. It were the longest 2 kilometers of my life. However, I won 48 seconds back from the winner of the day. It still wasn't enough to hang on to the yellow jersey, though.

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
I could tell you that I expected to lose the yellow jersey, and that I enjoyed the time I had in it. That I should be immensely proud to have even worn it at all in my second pro race ever. I wouldn't be lying, don't think that. But that's not what I'm thinking now, that's what I'll be thinking in a week or so.
Right now, I'm disappointed to the bone. I did my best, my utmost best, but it wasn't near enough. I lost way too much time on 24 kilometers. If I ever want to win a Grand Tour, my ultimate goal, I can't afford days like this.
However, I'm still in the top 20 here. I've won my first pro race and worn the leader's jersey. My Tour Med is already a success, no matter what happens next. I think I'll see where I can finish in the GC now. I'll try to race smart and try to keep that top 20 place, which would be a good result, given my age, the competition and that I'm still very inexperienced.
Thanks for being here,
Henry

Great win in the previous stage, and well, at least he already knows how a yellow jersey feels this early in his career

Jesleyh - Let's hope he can use that experience in the Tour later on
thanks! Glad that you're following this, hope you like it!
I must admit I'm loving this at the moment. I'm having some great gameplay, exciting stages and even though I'm riding on Hard and Vergnaud' stats aren't that high, I'm getting some great results.
It's been a long time since I've enjoyed playing this much, same goes for writing the reports, hope the quality reflects that!
Next stage was another fun ride!

Hi there,
Time for stage 3 of Tour Med. An interesting day, this will be my first real hilly stage.
Tour Méditerranéen - Stage 3 Like I said, this is my first hilly stage. A few local laps as a finish, this isn't to be underestimated. A bad day can result in losing minutes, quite easily. So I'm prepared to give everything today!
The Race
What's up with these races in the professional circuit? It seems like the peloton never takes it easy. You have to pay constant attention and it never slows down, a high pace all the time. Keep this up and I'll be burned up by the time I'm 25!
Three laps from the finish, the first attacks came. I couldn't understand it. What, these guys really had too much energy? I was just happy I could follow the pace of the peloton at this point.
Two laps from the finish, Quintana went in the attack. Once again, I didn't have a singly calorie to spare, so I waited.
But then the pace dropped. BMC was starting to get tired from riding at the front all day long. I was no longer riding on my reserves, but I was actually quite comfortable.
The leaders were building up quite a lead. On the final slope in the final lap, I attacked! It was risky, and once again my DS's stomach turned when he saw me going, but I was doing it, and that's what counted!
I got about 10 seconds, and then it stayed like that. I started to think, something a cyclist should almost never do while racing. Am I doing the right thing? Am I wasting my chances by wasting this energy?
But suddenly, the 10 seconds went up dramatically. BMC had lost its final chasing man!
When I saw my lead growing, it looked like I grew a pair of wings! I cruised downhill like a king and the finish line was close! I came very close to the front group, maybe a sprint would put me in the same time as them?
Quintana took the victory on the line, beating Daniel Martin by only about one inch. I finished 7th in the same time, winning more than a minute and a half on the peloton!

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
I'm totally loving this! I made a tough call and it turned gold! I'm moving up the GC again and looking at who's surrounding me there, I'm not doing too shabby! With two more tough stages this race is far from over. But I'm feeling better every day, and I'm ready for more! I can start dreaming of a top 10 finish.
Stay tuned,
Henry

Poor Sacha beaten by a newbee in the sprint
Good race so far, it looks as if Mont Faron will be decisive again... As usual

If I ever want to win a Grand Tour, my ultimate goal, I can't afford days like this.
Just won his first stage and already thinks about winning a Grand Tour. Chapeaux.
I even saw a fat guy with a T-shirt with my face on it. Thanks for coming, dad!
Great 3rd day for Henry. He is really surrounded by amazing riders and it's impressive how he manages to take time out of them by riding brave as on this last stage or by riding smart, like when he won his stage or the mountain jersey. I suppose he really has the instinct for such races. And yeah, it really shows in the reports how much you enjoy this right now. Really dig the emotional set-up for Henry so far and it's written in a very fine way. I do like this story a lot.

Shonak - Well, winning a Grand Tour is a dream right now, not an option I think Henry's doing so fine partly because he's riding around in his home country, that probably stimulates him to push harder I'm very happy to read you're enjoying this story! And thanks for commenting as often as you do!

Hi!
The one but last day here at Tour Med. I'm hoping to hang on to a top 10 place, which would be an amazing achievement for me!
Tour Méditerranéen - Stage 4 Mont Faron. Can't stress enough how important today is. On a climb like this, minutes will be won and lost. After today, only a few will still be in competition for the overall victory.
The Race
Two teams were pushing the pace all day long, both for different reasons. Contador must've been planning something, putting his team to work. Quintana was looking to defend his lead, without a doubt.
Saxo Bank is famous for its tactical masterminds. Contador went quite early. Nobody reacted. I thought about it for a second, but in cycling that's what kills you. You have to react right away. But it probably was for the best, I was putting my money on Mont Faron today!
The peloton seemed anxious by this attack and Quintana himself blasted away, leaving the two strongest in the race at the front. The peloton was decapitated and anarchy found its way to the pack. It rained attacks. I tried to drift along at the front without losing too much energy. Augustyn was a major help here!
We all arrived at the foot of Mont Faron in little groups. This is a dangerous climb to overdo yourself and find yourself losing minutes in the final kilometer alone. I decided to go at my own pace, not looking at any other rider. Some sprinted by me, but I tried to ignore them.
Quintana took the win overly obious. What a rider!
As I headed in the final kilometer, I had my sights on a group of riders. About 200 meters from the finish, I was able to overtake them. Not to my surprise, they were the ones who sprinted past me earlier on the climb.
I finish the stage within the first 10, which is more than I hoped to do! Another good day for me!

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
The top 10 is still very much within my grasp and I will do anything to get that. Tomorrow is another tricky stage, everyone will have a final battle plan ready. I'd better get started on mine! Though first I should tell you something else that happened right after the race!
After finishing, everyone but those who were needed on the podium had to descend on their own to go to the hotel. When I was at the foot, I still had about 2 kilometers to go to the hotel, no problem. Too bad none of the team mates were around. As a matter of cooling down my muscles (I strongly believe in modern cycling techniques, warming up, cooling down, that sort of stuff), I decided to take a little detour, to have about 5 - 6 kilometers in total.
I was just slowing down to take a sharp corner, it was somewhere between a few houses and some farmer fields, when my front tire blew out. I tried to stay upright, looking quite silly in the process, to eventually fall over anyway, hitting a mailbox before going down completely.
I heard some girlish giggling - oh dear, had anyone seen that? I stood up. Cyclist' instinct: I looked down and checked my legs. No open wounds, nothing was hurting. Okay, so that was all right. Then I looked up and I found myself face to face with the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.
She giggled once again, but quickly added: "Ca va? Tu t'es fait mal?" (all right? Have you hurt yourself?) . Man, I was turning red, so ashamed. Suddenly I was aware that my mouth was wide open so I closed it. I swallowed and said I was quite all right.
She approached me and helped me pick up my bike. "Merde," I mumbled as I noticed the front tire. Yup, great vocabulary to use when a lady's present, dumbass. Talk about making a great impression here. I looked up only to notice her smiling.
The gentleman in me finally seemed to wake up. "Hey, thanks." I said (I'll continue in English to make it easier for you!). "It's no problem," she answered. Her voice was sweeter than honey. A small breeze coming from behind her brought her divine scent to my attention. Heaven and bliss, I thought!
"are you okay?" She asked of me once again.
Okay? I'm super-over the top-fantastic, that's what I am! "Yeah, I'm okay", I answered. "Are y.." - "Henry! There you are!" I was so into this girl that I hadn't noticed a blue car pulling up. My DS immediately picked up my bike. "What's happened here? Your front wheel is totalled. Come on, you're late, I wondered where you were!"
"Well, boss, th.." - "No time for chit-chat now, Henry. Get in the car". He grabbed me at my arm and pushed me in the car. I tried to protest but it didn't matter. He slammed the door close, almost busting my nose, may I add. But never did I take my eyes off of her. She stood there, looking like an angel.
As our DS was putting the broken bike in the car, I opened the window. "Wait a minute, you haven't even told me your name, yet."
"It's Michelle".
Michelle. Wow "It was so nice to meet y.." - "Yeah, yeah, let's go." The DS put his foot on the pedal and we sped off to the hotel. But I was off to another planet altogether.
Everyone at the table was chatting around. But I was just sitting there, singing quietly...
Michelle, ma belle, sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble...

Less banging, more racing, Henry. Otherwise you lose your Top 10 tomorrow for sure.
Nice segment with Michelle, mate! Would be nice if Henry found succees and love in this Tour. The girl certainly knows how to walk through a field of flowers.

Shonak - You're right, he's losing his focus here Glad you liked the segment! Though he probably should've asked her for a number or last name or anything and she sure can walk through a field of flowers. Though being only February, she must be cold!

Gotta make sacrifices if you want to walk with style in a flower field.
Neither number nor last name makes things indeed difficult. He can't even facebook stalk her now probably, although that facebook magic machine surely could help him out. Well, if he doesn't see her again, there's only one way to bring her back for good: Win the Tour de France, Henry, and then she will come back to the boy who fell to the floor and you meet again. Seems like a proper plan to me.

Shonak - Now there's a proper reason to want to win the Tour I'm afraid even facebook can't even help him here
admirschleck - Thanks, glad you liked it! I didn't plan it or anything. Just wrote down the report and started writing the Michelle segment

Hi!
Final stage of Tour Med! Also the final day that I have a reporter from Radio B following me! Though he'll be over tomorrow to conclude the profile with an interview.
Tour Méditerranéen - Stage 5 The final day in Tour Med doesn't make for an easy stage. Even though the GC victory is probably gone, most positions are still very interchangable. I'm starting to get tired. I hope I have one more good day in me!
The Race
When the race started, I was more nervous than usually. I immediately took the front and scanned thousands of faces in the crowd, looking for one lady only...
No luck.
But then it was time to refocus. I couldn't dream off when so much was at stake! As expected, Contador attacked!
Once again I fail to react immediately. This time I was badly placed, I should've been more at the front at this time of the race. I was really mad with myself when Augustyn once again proved to be the perfect team mate. Knowing what was at stake, he took me for a ride!
Thanks to his efforts, I came back to 10 seconds on Contador . Quintana was gone, though.
I'm pretty good in the final 1000 meters. Realizing these are the final meters of the Tour Med, I gave it my all one last time!
Quintana confirms his dominance with another victory.
Thanks to a pretty good sprint, I find my way to another top 10 place, outsprinting Contador ! More importantly, I'm able to keep my 6th place overall!
And I can't round up here without mentioning the man without whom I would have finished way more back than 6th. John-Lee (Augustyn) , I owe you big time, thanks man!
And that's it for Tour Med. Let's take a look at the final standings!

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
I don't know what to say. I've only been a pro rider for 2 races but it feels like I've been doing it forever. I'm very comfortable in the peloton and I even get a lot of respect from a lot of my collegues. Besides the time trial, I finished top 10 in every stage, which is just amazing. More so, I took my first professional victory. There are better riders who go their whole career without winning even 1.
Right now I'm happy. But most of all I'm tired. I'm also a little sad that I didn't see that girl again. I returned home to Brittany after the race, so it feels like I've missed a big chance.
Oh well...
Citigroup isn't doing too bad. We're by far the strongest ProContinental team at the moment. But nonetheless, we have failed to get any wildcard so far. Our only pending requests and our only hope remains the Ronde, Paris - Roubaix, the Vuelta and the Canadian Classics.
It's really a shame we couldn't get any of the Spanish stage races or one of the Ardennes. But we can't let our heads hang, we have to try and become stronger. If we make that promotion, we're guaranteed all those races next year!
A quick look to how we are doing at the moment!
CQ Ranking (Teams)
Well, this graphic shows we are well on our way to that promotion. But the season's only started, though. It's nice to have started so well, though!
Continental Ranking (Individual)
This certainly was a surprise to see! I'm doing good, too! I'm very happy to see that.
My next race will be, once again, in France! Tour de Haut Var will see a strong start list including Quintana. Two hilly stages, that's it. I will see you there!
Henry
