Yes but technically that doesn't count as Wiggins didn't ride

Not only Wiggins, but it was a weak field. No disrespect to Phinney though, I look forward to him becoming a great cyclist.

I really hope Domenico Pozzovivo will step up.
Maxi Richeze will finally dominate the sprints in the Giro as well. |

And another thread that's also funny to read even though the season is far from over

Well, I think we can't really be faulted for pointing out Mandri. It's not his fault that he had a career-threatning injury.
Same with Haedo: he was supposed to do the Giro, then he injured his wrist. Now his only chance is the Vuelta.

(Ok, someone had to say it)
On a more serious note, I'm going to be a traitor to my country - I don't think Cavendish or Thomas will be much better than last year. I just don't think they will.
My bet on breakthrough rider is Gesink - it's obvious, but he's going to breakthrough at some point.
And Andy Schleck to have another great year
Now watch my predictions go completely wrong
Owned on most fronts, your view on except Andy. (EDIT: grammar fail )
Also I am waiting for the Pursuit t Beijing for the Americans to get owned when Wiggins wins goldB)

After reading this topic I think Ruben's vote on Langevald was the best one |

I can't tell you how happy I am that Cavendish exceeded my expectations. I knew he was quick, but I just really didn't think his stamina would build up that quickly that he could compete (or even be there) at the end of multiple Grand Tour stages

i think ciolek and cavendish was both good picks here. boasson hagen has done some good things this year, and i think he will do better next year. andy schleck will still be joint winner for me alongside cavendish. |

Kohl and Cav are, at least at the moment, my top two picks here. |

ciolek is yet to show all his true potential. he is far, far, faaaaaar from it.
which is only natural, being so much younger than other riders discussed here

that is true. but he did a big step up this year. he will take more steps for sure, but the guy skipped a step or two this year. and at that age |

the thing about Ciolek is that he's both very smart and a terrific climber. that, plus he's damn fast.
Also, he has a fighting spirit. He reminds me of Freire, but a better climber and less explosive (not less top speed!)
