@ luigi- Yeah, thanks! I probably could have signed up to any old race but the riders seemed satisfied and I wanted to keep the schedule realistic Pfft Just a little bummed that Krotky didn't get any Conti points for his 2nd place.

img577.imageshack.us/img577/7607/9xz9.png

Those are his stats. He won the TT and then got in a breakaway on the final stage that ended up getting him the win. TT might be a little high though Pfft

Sinkeldam won 5 stages at the Tour of Taihu lake, won 3 1.1 flat classics and got 2 wins at Driedaagse van-West Vlaanderen.

@ Fernando- Hopefully you're right. Smile I fear it might be a while, the upcoming GP of Sochi should have a tough field.

@ Jesleyh- Well you were close Pfft Thanks a lot!

@ Faillu - Yeah. Krotky went early since Sapa had a nice gap so by the line he was barely sprinting Pfft

@ pavuk - Thanks. You're right though, Vakoc is a great talent and I think its still a nice result. Afterall a 2nd is still punching above the teams strength imo.

@ Miguel - Thank you! And yes, they are Spanish in the DYN_sponsors table, so I changed that now!

Thank you Ian! Its nice to see you back on the site after your trip Pfft

@ All - I've updated the first post reserves to show the upcoming schedule.

It won't be your story if I hadn't have a correction for you on every day.

This time it's the race program. Are you making it yourself, or it's PCM made?

Apart from thinking of people living on the western hemisphere of the world, we aren't connected to Russia. So there's basically no reason why should Sparta start in Russia, since it's far and they probably don't fix the travelling cost. Sparta is more known to start in foreign races in Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain, Denmark, sometimes France and countries of former Yugoslavia (Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Montenegro namel). Sometimes but seldom also in Baltic countries (Latvia) Romania, Norway, Hungary, Ukraine (that was only once) and other countries which are basically considered to be in Asia, like and Turkey and China since those are generally offering large price money and cover all travelling cost even for low budget crap teams from Europe.

Again: I'm just trying to make your story more "real" so it's just a suggestion what to improve, you are absolutely free in doing whatever you like Smile

Well, its PCM then. I tried signing up to all Polish and Swiss races, but none accepted our invitation Frown For some reason, but I've got a few more in the next section of racing and if I recall, no races in Russia!

I didn't know they raced in Asia, but will keep that in mind.

Valor
I have learned one thing while playing PCM.

Don't be afraid to use your editor. Grin I think its use is legitimate if you just want to ride some continental race.

In Asia it was just twice or so Tour of Hainan (I don't know if these autumn races are included in FCD or any db) and Presidential Tour of Turkey, in good old times when its winners weren't doped riders from Konya Torku Seker Sport.

@ Valor - Indeed! I dont normally think of that, but I think you are right! I'll see if I am forced to take such action for the later parts of the season. I'll just stick to this for now. Think of it as an experiment Pfft

Grand Prix of Sochi Stage 1 - 2.2

Startlist

i.imgur.com/cCbiUUF.jpg

We are coming to this race hot off of two fine results, and I think we'd like to keep up those performances. The startlist is full of many fine sprinters, and our main leader, Krotky will have trouble sticking out of the crowd. There are a few favourites, like Ken Hanson, but the objective is more to do with GC than stage wins here, since I'm not sure we have a realistic shot at a stage win.

i.imgur.com/80HEKKF.jpg

So with all that in mind, we start off the day and what better to do, than claim the KoM jersey! Okrouhlicky takes the first sprint fairly easily and pushes on in hope of forming a breakaway!

i.imgur.com/soKvNXT.jpg

In between the 1st and 2nd KOM sprints he's joined by Milan Kadlec and once again wins the sprint for the KoM in the process with just 1 to go on the day! They are joined by one more rider on Alexander Brus of Wsa who wins the 3rd sprint of the day, but Okrouhlicky has enough to put on the jersey for tomorrow!

i.imgur.com/LVKFHp0.jpg

Inevitably, the break is caught and the sprint trains push to the front! Its really anyones race to win, but Hanson has a great train, as the chaos ensues all around them! Krotky tried to grab a wheel but didn't grab the right one, and tried making his way back to the front from then on, he'd be out of contention today, finishing in 17th!

i.imgur.com/7ozawzL.jpg

But back to the main sprinters and Hanson delivers the win for his team-mates who put everything into the chase of the breakaway, and then the lead-out! Vermeulen may be unhappy with his result, feeling he could have done better! But now its time to prepare for the TT tomorrow, crucial for the GC fight!

Great that you have managed to gain GC seconds and still remain in bunch, that could assure you some serious result Smile

With that startlist (no name sprinters + Hanson), I'm sure Kankovsky would be among top 10, he's great sprinter.

Roman
Fantastic story valv, I will seriously enjoy this, as the choice of the team is amazing, the support from Valor is great and your story writing is traditionally on a high level, your results as well.

The only thing for future, please, try to keep the Czech (or atleast Czech-o-slovakian) core of the team and don't be afraid to add new riders later into the story, we have quite lot of talented cyclists in MTB and cyclocross who could make the jump into road cycling, if there would be a right offer from a great Czech cycling team. Decided today to finally click on this story only to realize it was yours Valv321,
you threw me off with the Czech team choice. Rolling Eyes

So, I quickly slimmed through the first 3 pages and some great results already combined with the always stunning screenshots and I can't forgot to mention the great writing. And now that I know this is your story I'll make sure to stop by more often. Wink

Keep it up! Grin

@ Valor - Thanks! As you'll see though, it wont come to much Pfft TT did not go well at all. Actually there are a lot of sprinters with 70-72 SPR and Hanson I think has 73, while Kankovsky has 72 or 73 I can't remember. Also, the rest of the stages are classed as hilly stages Smile

@ Roman - Thanks very much! Its great to hear things like this! I'm super motivated, and with all the support I've been getting so far I think this can become my best story ever!
And dont worry, I will be keeping the team Czech! I may sign a few (like 3 or 4) that aren't as the team obviously needs to expand if I'm to get them to PT one day, but keeping things realistic is always one of my aims!

@ all - After the way I saw things going with this Tour, I decided to post the rest of them in one post so I can get past it and look to other things!

Stage 2

Today was supposed to be a day for Okrouhlicky, but he went too hard at the start of the TT according to the data and although he had great times at the first 2 time checks, he fell way back in the end and will not be happy with the result. Zakarin wins the TT, and takes the GC.

Today was all about Okrouhlicky grabbing as many KOM points as he could, but he met his match with Arkemedes Arguelyes who beat him on all but the 1st KOM sprint, and managed to grab points in the final CAT. 1 sprint due to going solo while the leaders made their moves and took the remaining points. After that he still went hard to the finish, shown here with Viktorin as he finishes inside the Top 20 but still way back in the GC! Medek was able to grab the team a great surprise result as he was feeling really good today! I think at this point we have no hope in the GC and will focus on jerseys, prize money and stage wins as we obviously are a little stronger in the hills than we thought!

Stage 4

i.imgur.com/DjXdmiH.jpg

Today was even more hectic than yesterday! A group of 4 riders got away in a breakaway and looked like they were going to stay clear! Dolezal was one of those men, but when the top teams put the hammer down with over 50km to go on the super steep gradient hills of 19%, the peloton split up into several small groups! The leaders eventually caught the breakaway, and the riders came across the line scattered in ones and two's mainly. Sabido took a big win, while our own riders moved ever so close to the Top 10 after following the best early move from the leaders, and made the gap work! Dolezal was the hardest working rider of the team today and came home in 7th place another great result, as well as putting himself into 15th overall! We may yet have a chance at the GC with 1 hilly stage to go!

Stage 5 [Final]

Today was another day where we got a rider into the breakaway, because hey, its a decent excuse to try and get KOM points or a stage win if they can stay clear, and like the past 2 days, there wasn't a real "catch"! Pavek was the man for us today as he was able to get over the two major climbs of the day and still be in the lead group! The splits were happening behind but due to Okrouhlicky's chasing he nullified any time gaps and Krotky remains 11th in the GC. Meanwhile, up ahead Pavek was forced to chase down Popkovs attacks on the descent but finally Popkov espcaped and Pavek could probably be thinking "what if". He puts in a solid chase to secure 2nd on the stage and watches in agony as he sees Popkov celebrate his win up the road.

great story and great results! Smile i´am managing Dukla Trenčín Trek and Ac Sparta Praha is one of the biggest oponents in my region, so it´s very interesting to watch your squad competing with Maros Kovac or Matej Jurco! Good luck! Wink

Jakstar22
Doing great. Keep it up!!!

And can you post the jersey you are using now. I'd like to see the differences. and I may find time after doing all my requests to give it a shot and it would be easier with a base.

Ian Butler
Great 2nd place there in that final stage!

Nice and realistic results there, and once again some pretty screens. This is really great so far valv. Smile

I hate Sparta soooo much! So no, I can't say good luck.Grin

4th of Medek is great, they always said this guy has a potential!

Just saw this now! Thanks so much for dropping by. I had a feeling this might happen for some people. I can admit, I'm not sure everyone finds this team all that interesting, since they aren't very good normally, or people just haven't heard of them or whatever. But anyway, I hope more people will notice it that haven't already!

Thanks a lot for coming by! The results have been really nice! I'm picking up Top 10's on most stages, I just think I need to get another win already Pfft I'm glad you like the writing, I always feel like I'm pretty repetitive with what I say Pfft

@ Palec - Thanks very much! Dukla Trencin are a nice team! Are you trying to find the next Peter Sagan? Pfft

@ Jakstar - Thanks! As for the jersey, is a PCM08-12 jersey thats just been resized. I wouldn't suggest using it as a base at all Pfft Thanks if you do end up making the updated version though!

@ Ian - Thanks Ian!

@ Teddy - Yeah thanks! The gameplay has been really exciting the past few races. Its not bee the typical break->catch->Sprint/leaders attack in the final 10km.

@ kubys - Oh well, we can't all be fans right? Pfft

@ Miguel - Thanks. I was thinking it would go poorly, but the team pulled it together in the final 3 hilly stages!

@ Valor - Indeed he's been really good so far! Usually really useful team-mate, but on this occasion I thought he might have been allowed to stay away in the break, and at one point he was the virtual leader in GC, but the gap was reduced a lot!

Startlist

i.imgur.com/armFr06.jpg

We are back racing in more familiar territory and today we will be racing in Ukraine. The startlist isn't exactly full of Ukrainian teams, but it certainly doesn't lack talent. The main favourite is probably Stefan Schumacher of Christina Watches, and Jan Polanc of Radenska would be a good bet for the win as well! Bosisio, Sabido and Shalunov will be outsiders, and Vakoc, Stevic, Kovac and Hudecek could be contenders as well! We have brought probably one of our strongest squads, but it will be tough to get any results with the quality here!

i.imgur.com/OBcveBs.jpg

We start the day off with a breakaway of 4 riders! Berezkin of Itera Katusha is the strongest of the group, and they gain an advantage of 6 minutes by the half way point!

i.imgur.com/JjzpUug.jpg

With the breakaway only at 45 seconds ahead of the peloton with around 18km to go, Krotky decides to make an attack, as we have Hunal waiting in the bunch in case this move doesn't work out! Krotky can hardly catch up to the 2 leading breakaway riders that are left, Berezkin being one of them!

i.imgur.com/zLL5tkg.jpg

Now with about 7km to go, the favourites make some moves behind Krotky. None are able to bridge the gap right away, but Polanc, Bosisio, Sabido and a few others are beginning to form a good chasing group. A few km's later the group begins to blow up as some riders make attacks while others drop away from the tormenting pace a bit!

i.imgur.com/4HglEYG.jpg

Berezkin makes an attack and leaves his breakaway partner in the dust! Krotky and the others pass him, but dont seem able to catch Berezkin! Bosisio puts in a good sprint to catch him but Berezkin celebrates his win well. Krotky holds on to 3rd place ahead of riders another level above his own, so all in all a great result and a confident attack that worked out well!
