Its Over! Dumoulin Emerges in Orange
by: Cycling News

BMC take minor honours on the day; but its ORANJE! for Dumoulin
A gruelling, gritty and dramatic Tour Down Under came to another thrilling conclusion today as we had our 6th different stage winner, but more importantly Dumoulin and the Argos-Shimano team did enough to ensure that their rider would be crowned as the Winner of the General Classification.

Delage and Nordhaug held out slim hope going into todays stage, but with the peloton relaxed, the pace was never lifted high enough to distribute the riders and as such Argos-Shimano just kept their man in the mix to roll home in glory.

Above: Big stretch and there we go; BMC and Blythe take the Adelaide honours

For BMC, they wound up in a thrilling sprint alongside the Saxo-Tinkoff riders as Brit' Andrew Blythe got the nod to edge out Australia's Cantwell who was looking for a home based win.

However its Dumoulin's day and he spoke after clinching the Tour crown "Excited, I dont know right now what to say. Maybe you expect this after being in the lead for the final stage, but its a dream, the team was brilliant... I just cant sum up how I feel, but this is perfect for me and a great start to our season"

Other honours went to; Peter Kennaugh who claimed the King of the Mountains Jersey, Martyn Maaskant with the Overall Points haul, Dumoulin also added the Young Riders Jersey to his record, whilst his team Argos-Shimano came through to claim the Team honours.

Done Deal!
by: Cycling News

Greipel: I am happy here and excited to extend my contract
If the news on the racing front had been disappointing for both Lotto-Belisol and Andre Greipel, off of the road its a different story as the 30 year old German signed a 2 year extension to his current deal (due to expire at the end of 2013) to keep him at the team until the end of the 2015 season.

Some outsiders had questioned whether Greipel was happy enough with the teams lack of performance in recent years and whether this would drive him to look for a more competitive ride, Greipel himself answered such a question.

i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/greicon_zps7bad3caa.jpg
Above: Lotto-Belisol fans can breathe a sigh of relief, he is here to stay!

"I have to say that everything I need is right here, we have a great team, great staff, great facilities and the funding is there to make us feel good at camps and training. Results only tell one side of the story, yes I would like them to be better, but thats something we are all working on and all pushing for. At the end, I have to think of whats best and I am sure that being at Lotto-Belisol is the best place I can be"

Lotto have committed a large chunk of their budget to keep Greipel, with a rumored salary of over €35,000 per month. However its a gamble worth taking as the excitement and talent that he brings can only benefit the team in the big races.

Sporting Director Alex Pilsen said "We had looked at negotiations the day I took charge. It was always tricky with the TdU coming up, but we knew what package we could get to Andre (Greipel) and he accepted without question. Its a positive for us and im sure that will remove any doubts from our minds in the coming races"

Greipel may not be back in the saddle until the end of February, however in the mean time Lotto-Belisol will be better off for having done the deal and not procrastinated.

Greipel staying is Good news indeed Smile

Thanks all, yeah Greipel is huge for me tbh as I thought he would reject my offer.

Anyway February is a very 'dry' month, no actual races for me to participate in (ie UWT) so it might be a little dull as such as I recap the minor races.
