I guess Phil and Paul are just commenting on their own into who's the favorite, not as a general point from the public.
Well perhaps they made mistake like on Stage 2, they thought Irizar has won. Which is quite normal considering their age.
They only said Irizar was in the move, they corrected themselves to Bakelants with about 4km to go, when it popped up on the timing screens.
Worst one was yesterday when Cav fell.
Sherwin: "And that's a Belkin rider, it's Vanmarcke with Cavendish" (correct)
Liggett: "Yes the young man Danny Van Poppel there with Cavendish" (dafuq!)
Sherwin: "I hope both Cavendish and Van Poppel can get back ok through the cars" (seriously?!)
Well Liggett messed that up didn't he? Still better than dead silence and then suddenly: "IT'S AN ATTACK!!!!!"
"America. Show a nipple on television and the whole country goes ape-shit." -DubbelDekker

There's plenty I love about cycling, with this being kind of semi-relevant. I've come accustomed to watching pretty much every race at night into early morning (well, I have to really). It probably sounds kind of strange, but it creates a certain kind of atmosphere. Especially the bigger races, such as the Tour.

Same, I love getting up early in the morning to watch cycling. School on the other hand....

Forgot to mention another thing: I love the way how its possible such a small and skinny person can push so much power out of its body

Love the drama of the race, and how unexpected events can light up the race.
Also love when the domestiques get their chance to shine. Always good to see their teamwork and dedication to their leader rewarded with the opportunity to gain personal glory. |

for me, it's the sheer admiration (for an unfit guy like me) of people that can last for up to 7 hours in a saddle and biking 300km (in the case of MSR) or riding 200km daily for 3 weeks
Then let that be an inspiration to become fit

I have to agree. I feel like I'm really putting in an effort to watch things. Also a great way to relax in an evening.
Oh and the whole live blogging thing we do here is always a fun thing I associate with the race.

When I watch a race, I really feel the need to be reading some posts here. |
