Well at least a Russian managed to make the break, I am expecting more of a show from Ignatiev though.
I don't mind the graphics for this pcm version, lookin' pretty rustic. |

@Miguel98
11th, just got overtaken by Fischer, Thomas and Schleck.
@emre99
I bet you're not...
And I will try to post around 2 reports per day but it will vary
@The Rider
Hah, well I could probably up the graphics setting a bit actually, but my computer might not be too happy about it ... Hopefully Ignatiev will thrive on the more difficult terrain in the final stage for you! |

@Luigi
And maybe they'd do even better with a completed planner
Your race days so far (once Luxembourg is finished) are in the spoiler:
Spoiler Den Blanken - 4
Albronda - 4
Annevelink - 4
De Vroom - 4
Muuniik - 4
Ryder - 1
Gesink - 0
Boom - 0
Also still waiting on finalised planners from Jorge14 and fcancellara, if either are reading this!

Okay then - sorry for the delay - but let's have a look now at how the race was won, in the final stage of the Tour of Luxembourg.
TOUR OF LUXEMBOURG
Final Stage
On the slightly hillier "queen" stage, the winner of this race will be determined. Will Gert Dockx reclaim yellow? Will Geraint Thomas climb from 2nd to 1st? Or will young Dominik Fischer defy the odds to win in his home race?
At the first KOM, it is surprsingly Rui Costa and Mikhail Ignatiev (11th & 9th in GC) on the offensive.
But it is Ferrari's Schulte who is most keen to brave the following climbs. He spends the best part of the day alone in front.
At the half-way point, Melas Duarte (Caixa) makes a move alongside Pyotr Maximov (Gazprom), but then decides to ditch Maximov in favour of a solo pursuit.
Costa is really keen to pick up KOM points today. He now sits on 8 with one more KOM to go - he'll need to beat Schulte over the top there to guarantee the KOM. For the meantime, he drops back the rapidly depleting peloton.
Sodexo pick up the pace behind, since Schulte (@3mins), Duarte (@2:30 mins), and Maximov (@1 min) are all still ahead and each one is still wavering on the virtual overall lead at 30km to go.
Fast forward 20 kilometres, and whilst Melas Duarte is no longer challenging the overall lead, he has managed to catch and pass an exhausted Schulte (who narrowly lost out on the KOM to Costa in the end)
So, with Duarte heading up to the final ramp with and advantage of 55 seconds, the question is - will it be enough?
Behind, Vernon Cervantes (Santander, GC 7th) makes a bold, aggressive descent towards the final climb and holds a small advance on the 14-man group behind.
As you can see, Cervantes catches up to Duarte and the finish line is in sight for them. But not far behind, Andy Schleck (GC 3rd) is tearing up the climb at a rapid pace...
Phinney tags onto Schleck and they race past the Spaniards and into the final km together...
...just ahead of the trio of Agnoli, Thomas and Cervantes. It looks like it will be between Thomas and Schleck for the GC since...
...Fischer is falling behind, but of course it might not matter for Sodexo if Schleck were to take the bonus seconds on offer.
Phinney is victorious amidst the chaotic uphill slog, but in 2nd place the veteran Andy Schleck has done enough to win in his home tour!
Even better for Sodexo, though Fischer crosses the line down in 13th place, he has done enough to secure 3rd overall whilst winning the U25 classification. Not bad for a rider who entered the race with, at best, a free role.

FINAL GC
The GC is marked by the success of Sodexo - and of home nation Luxembourg - with Schleck (1st), Fischer (3rd) and Jungels (8th).
In the end, it seemed like the big classics men weren't quite up for the pre-season yet, and the winner was a man whom I (mistakenly) forgot to list on the race preview who set out to prove a point: Schleck still has the legs at 35.

MYSTERY BLOOD BAG
Yep, you read it right!
All managers have found a mysterious blood bag in the mail this morning... What does it do?
Maybe you could use it to boost a rider's performance a little bit in a race, at some point this season?
It looks like there is enough in there to boost one rider for one race only.
That said, it does look a bit dodgy... is it worth the risk?
YOU decide (via PM!)
Clarification:
Spoiler Using the bag is entirely optional. If you wish to use it, PM the race and rider that you'll use it for...
...But you'll probably only work out whether you made the right decision or not once the racing is done! It does look dodgy after all...

Interesting responses so far
I'm gonna go sleepy-sleep now, but hopefully a Paris-Nice preview will be up in the morning (GMT), with racing to begin later on. |

Statement from the D.S. at Gazprom
" This morning we received a blood bag in the mail, rather than hide away we decided to come out to the press with this news.
We want Gazprom to be a transparent clean cycling team, we want Gazprom to promote the goodness of Russia, especially after the terrible 2018 war with Mongolia.
It is my understanding that other teams may also have received these dangerous blood bags, I urge the other teams to follow our example and dispose of these unfair substances or you will feel our wrath." |

We, Bianchi, won't start a press conference for this, but we want to mention that we will follow Gazprom in their decision not to use the blood bags.
In fact, we will even donate some money to support the hunt against this dopers.
Cycling is finally a clean sport again, and it should stay like that!
