Tour de San Luis – Stage 7
Stage Preview
Today was already the last stage of the Tour de San Luis. We want to attack one more time, to get the points in the sprints. We think today’s gonna be a mass sprint, but we’ll see what’s gonna happen.
Sobczyk attacked immediately after the start. He’s already in a good form so it’s a good cycler to have in the breakaway.
And yes, Sobczyk took the points at the two immediate sprints. He didn’t get an opportunity to take the mountain points, so we don’t have that points.
Sobczyk was caught and the peloton was accelerating for the mass sprint. We were with four cyclers in good position. Watson was looking good and he followed the other sprinters very easy. Maybe he can drive a decent result today!
But in the final kilometres there was a very big crash. Many riders were involved in this crash. Sevilla (7th) and Gonçalves (12th) had to leave the race.
Brambilla won the final stage. Watson took a 9th place, which is very good for him. Rogers gained a lot of places in the classification. He went from 41st to 25th, which isn’t very bad. But the Tour de San Luis has finished now. Florian Guillou wins the general classification, Downing wins the points jersey, Blain the mountain jersey and Alizadeh the youth jersey. Lampre was the best team in this year’s Tour de San Luis. We’ve got a lot of experience in the Tour de San Luis. We’re satisfied with our results.

January has finished and our début wasn't that bad. We rode a decent race in San Luis, and we had a great result in Marseille. So now we'll start at the second month for our team, February. To give you some information, we'll ride these races. Tour of Qatar and Tour du Haut Var are sponsor goals. But we'll skip some sponsor goals because we think we don't have a chance in that race, for example at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. What do we have to do there without cobbles cyclers? Nothing, so we'll skip that race. We hope at some good results in the races which we will ride.
February
05/02 – 10/02 | Tour of Qatar (6 stages) | Qatar | 2.HC | 18/02 – 19/02 | Tour du Haut Var (2 stages) | France | 2.1 | 24/02 – 05/03 | Le Tour de Langkawi (10 stages) | Malaysia | 2.HC | 26/02 | Les Boucles du Sud Ardèche – Souvenir Francis Delpech | France | 1.1 |

The Rider: Thanks! Yeah, Qatar is also one of the sponsor goals (top 10), so they wanted to ride here.

Tour of Qatar – Stage 1
Stage Preview
The first stage of the Tour of Qatar was a flat stage of 142 kilometres. We wanted to attack, of course. That’s our plan for this tour and it might also be the plan for a big part of the season.
There were a lot of attacks at the start of the stage. It seemed that a lot of teams wanted to be in the breakaway. This breakaway had 21 riders. The last ones were caught already after the first immediate sprint.
After that, there came a new breakaway with first seven, and later eight riders. Hill was there from our team and he took a second place at the second immediate sprint.
The breakaway was long at the head of the race, but the peloton was already chasing it.
So with 16,6 kilometres to go, Hill and a few others decided to attack. But the peloton was riding a very high pace, so it’s seemed impossible.
And it was impossible. Around ten kilometres before the finish, the breakaway was caught.
The teams with sprinters were working very hard. We tried to get behind a sprinter and to stay at the front of the peloton.
And then, around 3,8 kilometres before the finish, there was a very big crash. A lot of riders were involved in that crash. 3 riders had to give up. One of them was the Irish road champion Brammeier. None of our riders were involved in that crash, so that was very good news for us.
We got a sprint with a group of 39 riders. Samuel Dumoulin was the fastest of them and took the win in the first stage of this year’s Tour of Qatar. Our best rider finished around P18, but we got all our eight riders at the top 39 of the general ranking. The biggest obstacle is the team-time-trial of tomorrow, but we have a gap of 1”29 to the number forty in the ranking.
This was a big surprise for us. We didn’t realised that Hill took the bonification seconds at the second immediate sprint, so he took the lead in the young rider ranking! This is great for us. He’s also fourth in the general classification. We’ll see what we can do in the Team-Time-Trial tomorrow.

Lucky that they could avoid the crash.
Hope Hill can hold on to the U25 jersey, but with that TTT, it's nearly impossible

Jesleyh: Yes, we're very happy about that. That's why we're always at the front of the peleton. It'll be difficult, especially with that TTT, but also with the bonification seconds.

Tour de San Luis – Stage 2
Stage Preview
The second stage of the Tour of Qatar was a team-time-trial of eleven kilometres. We knew it’ll be very difficult for us to keep our good place.
The first team which was the favourite for today’s win was CCC-Polsat. They drove a 14’48”, which was a decent time.
Team NetApp – Endura was another favourite for today. They had Jan Barta, who’s the national time-trial champion of the Czech Republic. They finished in front of CCC-Polsat.
And here we are, with Hill in the youth jersey. Our team was standing third in the team classification, so we were starting very late. It was our first team-time-trial, and we’ve got some nice pictures of it from some photographers.
Our team was really doing their best to put a good time.
Very beautiful in the desert.
Almost at the finish, but we put a disappointed time at the finish. We finished in one-to-last position, so that isn’t very well. We lost a lot of time , but we’re still with all our riders in the top 39.
Sojasun was also one of today’s favourites. They drove a really good third time. RusVelo was leading at that moment.
Only AG2R could beat the time of RusVelo, because they’re the last team. But they didn’t, so Rusvelo won the team time-trial. Dumoulin lost his leader’s jersey to Julien Simon of the Sojasun team. Artem Ovechkin got the stage on his name, so he’s today’s winner. Tomorrow we’ll be there with the third stage of the Tour of Qatar.

That is an achievement not to finish last at that TT.
When I played that stage I came last and had to win the next 4 stages to win GC! |

The Rider: We're happy that we didn't finished last at all. GC is impossible for us, just as stage wins, so we'll go for the mountain jersey. Oops, there isn't one. Just attacking and see what happens.

Tour of Qatar – Stage 3
Stage Preview
The third stage was a flat stage. And, as many other times, we decided to attack.
Today we sent Rodrigues into the breakaway. After fifty kilometres and a lot of attacks later, we got a breakaway with nine cyclists.
Here they are, around five kilometres before the first intermediate sprint. We wanted to take some points with Rodrigues.
So we did. Rodrigues took second place in both first and second intermediate sprint. That’s very good for us.
And with a gap of maximum five minutes, the peloton was already chasing the breakaway. And around nineteen kilometres to the finish, six man decided to attack. Rodrigues was one of them.
But they had no chance. The peloton, with the team of the leader Simon, was riding a very high pace. So it was sure that we got a mass sprint.
Dumoulin won the sprint and took over the leader jersey with the bonifications. We drove a decent stage today, but we had no chance in the sprint. So we’ll try to attack every day.

Tour of Qatar – Stage 4
Stage Preview
Today was the fourth stage of the Tour of Qatar, and I can tell you; it was a very strange stage. At the start there were a lot of attacks. And every time we sent another rider with them, so I am a bit confused and I’ve forgotten who of our team were attacking.
So, this was the first attack of the stage with, uhhh, well, I don’t know. So the first attack was with a rider of our team, but they were caught. And the attacks after this one were also caught.
Then Rodrigues did a nice move. He won the first intermediate sprint, and in the background Sobczyk took third place! Very nice for us.
And then, we finally got a breakaway. One of our riders was at that breakaway, don’t know who. Oh, yes, I already know. It was Webb.
Why do you think I remembered it? Because he took second place in the second intermediate sprint! Yeah, and this was the fifth time I didn’t forgot to export the results. But this was very good for us.
After the breakaway was caught (yes, the peloton was chasing at them and took them back), the peloton broke up into two parts. We had only three riders in the first group, and they were already getting tired by staying in that group. And at the end, all our riders lost the contact to the group.
Simon won the stage, Dumoulin was nowhere today. So Simon took over the leader jersey back again. Our riders all lost time, but they didn’t lose any positions. So that’s good news for us. We’ll be back tomorrow, with the fifth stage of the Tour of Qatar.

Tour of Qatar – Stage 5
Stage Preview
Today was a flat stage (of course), and we tried to attack.
So we did. But we had a lot of problems. I don’t know why, but it seems that the peloton doesn’t want us in the breakaway anymore. We had some problems with it already, but today they didn’t want to let us go. So after the first intermediate sprint, we decided to stay in the peloton. It was annoying. Really annoying.
And yes, of course today the peloton let the breakaway go. So they were fighting for the stage win. A rider of the breakaway, Tratnik, decided to attack. Trying to win the stage.
But we were angry, really angry. And Hill was angry too. So he decided to attack. Not for the stage win, but to take back the breakaway. We knew the peloton would chase him, and they did. Sorry Tratnik, but the peloton took you 1600 meters too early. And so there was a mass sprint.
Simon won the sprint, Traksel came really close, but not close enough. The peloton broke in the last kilometre, but we didn’t lose any time. Tomorrow is the last stage, and we hope to be in the breakaway again, but it’ll be difficult.
